Psalm 141
The Psalmist Prays to Be Kept in the Midst of Temptation
O Lord, I cry to you; hear me; incline your ear to my voice when I call to you.
Let my prayer be set before you like incense, and the lifting up of my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to evil, or to engage in wickedness with those who practice iniquity; and do not eat their delicacies.
Let the righteous strike me, and it will be a kindness; and let him rebuke me, and it will be a precious oil, which my head will not reject; for I will continue to pray despite their wickedness.
When their judges are thrown down from the rock, they will hear my words, for they are pleasant.
As when one plows and breaks up the earth, so are our bones scattered at the mouth of the grave.
But my eyes are upon you, O God, the Lord; in you I trust; do not forsake my soul.
Keep me from the snare of the workers of iniquity.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, until I have escaped.
