Psalm 144 Thanksgiving for God's Protection and Prayer for Further Deliverance

 Psalm 144

Thanksgiving for God's Protection and Prayer for Further Deliverance

Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

My lovingkindness and my fortress; you are my high tower and my deliverer; my shield, in whom I trust, who subdues my people for me.

O Lord, what is man, that you take notice of him? Or the son of man, that you make much of him?

Man is like vanity; his days are like a passing shadow.

Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

Flash forth your lightning, and scatter them; send out your arrows, and scatter them.

Stretch out your hands from on high; rescue me; rescue me from many waters, from the hand of strange children,

Whose mouth speaks vanity, and whose right hand is the right hand of falsehood.

To you, O God, I will sing a new song; with the psaltery and the ten-stringed instrument I will sing praises to you.

He gives victory to kings, who delivers David his servant from the deadly sword.

Rescue me, and rescue me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaks vanity, and whose right hand is the right hand of iniquity.

That our sons may be like plants, flourishing in their youth; that our daughters may be like polished cornerstones, like the pillars of a palace.

That our storerooms may be filled with all manner of food; so that our livestock may produce thousands and tens of thousands in our streets.

so that our oxen may be strong enough for work; so that there will be no raids, no outcry, no clamor in our streets.

blessed are the people to whom this happens! blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.
