Psalms 137
Longing for the Homeland
By the rivers of Babylon we sat down yea, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
We hung our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
For they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that destroyed us required us to make them mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
But how shall we sing the song of the LORD in a strange land?
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember thee, if I do not set Jerusalem above my chief joy.
Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem, for they said, Destroy it, destroy it, even to its foundations.
Ah! Daughter of Babylon, who will be laid waste, happy is the one who repays you as you have done to us.
Happy is the one who takes your children and dashes them against the rocks.
