Psalms 135
God is praised for his goodness, power, and justice. The Vanity of Idols
Praise the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord; praise him, you servants of the Lord.
You who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praises to his name, for it is pleasant.
For the Lord has chosen Jacob as his own, Israel as his peculiar treasure.
For I know that the Lord is great, and that our God is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain; he brings out the winds from his storehouses.
He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both man and beast;
Who performed signs and wonders in the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon his servants;
Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings;
Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;
And gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel his people.
Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever, and thy remembrance, O LORD, to all generations.
For the LORD will judge his people, and will repent for his servants' sake.
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes they have, but they see not.
They have ears, but they hear not; there is no breath in their mouths.
May those who make them be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
Bless the Lord, house of Israel; bless the Lord, house of Aaron.
Bless the Lord, house of Levi; praise the Lord, you who fear the Lord.
Blessed be the Lord from Zion, who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the Lord.
