The Psalmist Prays to Be Delivered from the Liar and the Slanderer

1 In my distress I cried to the Lord, and he heard me.

2 O Lord, deliver my soul from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.

3 What will a deceitful tongue give you?

4 Sharp arrows from a mighty man, with burning coals of juniper.

5 Woe to me, a sojourner in Meshech, who dwells in the tents of Kedar!

6 My soul has long dwelt with those who hate peace.

7 I am at peace, but even as I speak they are at war.
