Deuteronomy 27 The order to raise a standard and record the law in it

Deuteronomy 27
The order to raise a standard and record the law in it
1 And they commanded Moses and the elders to the people of Israel, saying, Keep all these commandments which I command you this day:
2 And it shall come to pass, that on the day that thou shalt go over the Jordan to the land which the LORD thy God shall give thee, thou shalt lift up great stones, and shave them with whitewash.
3 And when it is past, thou shalt write in them all the words of this law, to enter into the land which Jehovah thy God shall give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD God of thy fathers said unto thee.
4 And when ye pass over the Jordan, ye shall lift up these stones, which I command you this day, to mount Ebal, and shall fall with lime.
5 And there thou shalt build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones; Thou shalt not lift iron upon them.
6 And thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God with whole stones, and shalt offer upon it a burnt offering unto the LORD thy God.
7 And thou shalt sacrifice peace offerings, and eat there before the LORD thy God, and be glad.
8 And thou shalt write on these stones all the words of this law, and speak them well.
9 And Moses and the Levite priests spake unto all Israel, saying, Hear and hear, O Israel! In this day you have become the people of Jehovah your God.
10 Because thou shalt obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
