The purification of the soldiers
13 But Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation went out to meet them outside the camp.
14 And Moses was very angry with the officers of the host, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, who came from the service of that war.
15 And Moses said to them, Did you let all women live?
16 Behold, these are they which in the counsel of Balaam have given the children of Israel a trespass against Jehovah in the business of Peor: therefore the plague was among the congregation of the LORD.
17 Now therefore, slay the whole man among the children; and slayeth every woman that knoweth any man, and lieth with him.
18 But all the female children, who knew no man lying with him, let you live.
19 And ye shall dwell seven days without the camp: whosoever shall slay any person, and whosoever hath touched any dead, on the third day, and on the seventh day shall ye purify yourselves and your captives.
20 And thou shalt cleanse all the garments, and all the garments, and all the work of goats' hair, and all the vessels of wood.
21 And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of the war, that went forth to the battle: This is the statute of the law which the LORD commanded Moses.
22 But gold and silver, and copper, and iron, and tin, and lead;
23 Every thing that can withstand the fire you shall make pass through the fire, that it may be cleansed: yet it shall be atoned for with the water of separation: but whosoever can not bear fire, ye shall cause him to pass through the water.
24 And ye shall wash your garments on the seventh day, that ye may be clean: and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
