The mourning for Jacob and his burial
Then Joseph fell on his father's face; and wept over him and kissed him.
And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel.
And fulfilled for him forty days; for so are fulfilled the days of those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.
After 4 for the days of weeping, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh's house, saying; If now I have found favor in your eyes, I pray you speak against the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
My father made me swear, saying, Behold, I die; in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore, I pray thee, that I go, and bury my father; then back.
And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father as he made you swear.
And Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
As well as all the house of Joseph and his brothers and his father's house; only they left in Goshen land their children, and their flocks, and their herds.
And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and the competition was great.
And they came as will threshing spinal, which is beyond the Jordan, made a big and very serious tears, and made his father a mourning seven days.
And seeing the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, the mourning in the spinal floor, said: è this great mourning of the Egyptians. So he called up his Abelmizraim name, which is beyond the Jordan.
And they made him their children just as he commanded him,
For his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for burial inheritance, Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
