Exodus 14
God announces the ruin of Egypt
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel to return, and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baalzephon: in front of him assentareis the field by the sea.
Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them.
And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, to persecute them, and I will be glorified in Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord. And they did so.
Therefore being told the king of Egypt that the people fled, moved the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants against the people, and said, Why did it have let Israel go, so that we do not serve?
And he made ready his chariot, and took his people;
And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over them all.
For the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel; But the children of Israel went out with a high hand.
And the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his knights, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them, and greatly afraid; then the children of Israel cried to the Lord.
And they said to Moses: There were no graves in Egypt, that we take away from there, to die in the wilderness? Why have you done this to us, to have us out of Egypt?
Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? because it better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert.
Moses but said to the people: Fear not; stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will you; for the Egyptians you see today you, never will see forever:
The Lord will fight for you and you hold your peace.
