Joseph's brothers return from Egypt
Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore and their money to each into his sack, and to give them food for the way; and they made them so.
And they carried their grain on their donkeys, and went away.
And one of them opened his sack to give food to his ass in the sale, he espied his money; for behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.
And he said to his brothers: They returned my money, and will it even in my sack. Then their hearts failed, and they were afraid, saying to one another: What is this that God has done to us?
And they came to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan; and they told him all that happened to them, saying:
The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us, and treated us as spies of the land;
But we said to him, we are true men; we are not spies;
We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is with our father in the land of Canaan.
And that man, the lord of the land, said to us: Hereby know ye that ye are true men; leave one of your brothers with me, and take food for the famine of your houses, and go,
And bring me your youngest brother; then shall I know that ye are not spies, but honest men; then I will give your brother and trade in the land.
And it happened as they emptied their sacks, behold, each had a bundle of money was in his bag; and saw the bundles of money, they and their father, and they were afraid.
And Jacob their father said to them, Ye have bereaved me, Joseph is not, and Simeon is not; now bear the Benjamin. All these things are against me.
And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if not to make the bring of it to me in my hand, and I will bring.
And he said, not go down with you my son; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone. If it happens a disaster in the way which ye go, faei down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
