Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dreams
And it came to pass, after two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed, and behold, I was standing by the river,
And behold, there came up out of the river seven cows, beautiful in sight and fatty meat, and they fed in the meadow.
And behold, there came up out of the river after them seven other cows, ugly and lean meat; and stood by the other cows on the river beach.
And the ugly cows in sight, and lean meat, ate up the seven sleek and fat cows will. And Pharaoh awoke.
And he slept and dreamed outa time, and behold, sprouted from the same foot seven ears of corn and good.
And behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them.
And the thin ears devoured the seven large and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream.
And it came to pass in the morning his spirit pertubou up, and sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men; and Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none to interpret the Pharaoh.
Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying: From my sins remember today:
And while Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in prison in the house of the captain of the guard, me and the chief baker,
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he, each according to the interpretation of his dream.
And I was there with us a Hebrew youth, servant to the captain of the guard, and told them to him, and played us our dreams, to each interpreted according to his dream.
And as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored to my office, and him hanged.
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him out of the dungeon; and shaved and changed his clothes, and came to Pharaoh.
And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret but you heard that when you hear a dream to interpret it.
And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Behold, in my dream I was standing on the river beach,
And behold, there came up from the river seven kine of flesh and beautiful in sight, and they fed in the meadow.
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, very ugly in sight, and lean meat; I have not seen other such, as to the ugliness in all the land of Egypt.
And the lean and ugly cows ate up the first seven fat cows;
And went into his bowels, but it was not known who had come into his bowels; because it was still as ugly as at the beginning. Then I woke up.
And I saw in my dream, and behold, the same foot rose seven full and good ears;
And, behold, seven dry ears, and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
And the seven thin ears devoured the seven good ears. And I said to the magicians, but there was none to interpret mo.
Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, Pharaoh's dream is one; what God will do, he has declared to Pharaoh.
The seven good kine are seven years; the seven good ears are seven years; the dream is one.
And the seven lean, ugly cows in sight, which came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind; will be seven years of famine.
This is the word which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: what God will do, he showed it to Pharaoh.
And behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout the land of Egypt.
And after they get up to seven years of famine, and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine shall consume the land;
And it will not be known plenty in the land because of that famine afterwards; for it will be very grievous.
And the dream fou doubled twice to Pharaoh, it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it.
So now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and set him over the land of Egypt.
Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years,
And let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and keep;
So will keeping for providing the land for the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
And the thing was good to Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
