The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 44
The Promise of Deliverance. The Coming of Cyrus
Remember these things, O Jacob, and O Israel, for you are My servant; I formed you; you are My servant, O Israel; I will not forget you.
I have blotted out your transgressions like a thick mist, and your sins like a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
Sing for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done this; break forth into singing, O lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains; break forth into singing, O forests, and all you trees within you; for the Lord has redeemed Jacob and glorified Himself in Israel.
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: I am the Lord who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens and spreads out the earth by myself;
Who frustrates the signs of the liars and makes diviners mad; who turns wise men back and upsets their knowledge;
I am the one who confirms the word of his servant and fulfills the counsel of his messengers; who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited,' and to the cities of Judah, 'You shall be rebuilt,' and I will raise up its ruins;
Who says to the deep, 'Be dry,' and I will dry up your rivers;
Who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd, and he will accomplish all my pleasure;' who says to Jerusalem, 'Be built,' and to the temple, 'Your foundations are laid.'
