The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 27

The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 27

In that day the Lord will punish with his great and strong sword leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.

In that day there will be a vineyard of red wine; sing to it.

I, the Lord, keep it, and will water it continually, so that no one will harm it; I will guard it night and day.

There is no wrath in me: who would set briers and thorns before me in battle? I would go against them and burn them together.

Or seize my strength, and make peace with me; yes, let him make peace with me.

The days will come when Jacob will take root, and Israel will blossom and bud, and they will fill the face of the world with fruit.

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck him? Or did he kill him as he killed those he killed?

You contended with her with measure when you rejected her; he took her away with his strong wind, in the time of the east wind.

Therefore the iniquity of Jacob will be atoned for, and this will be all the fruit of his sin: when he makes all the stones of the altar like limestone broken into pieces, the Asherah poles and the sun-images will not be able to stand.

For the fortified city is desolate, a dwelling place rejected and forsaken like a wilderness; there the calves will graze, there they will lie down, and they will devour her branches.

When her branches are dry, they will be broken off; the women will come and set them on fire, for this people is not a people of understanding. Therefore his Maker will not have mercy on them, and his Forming her will show them no favor.

And it will be in that day that the Lord will winnow her fruit from the streams of the River to the River of Egypt; and you, O children of Israel, will be gathered one by one.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown, and those that were lost in the land of Assyria, and those that were outcasts in the land of Egypt, shall come again, and shall worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
