II Samuel 16 The advice that Aquithophel and Hushai give to Absalom

 II Samuel 16

The advice that Aquithophel and Hushai give to Absalom

15 And Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem: and Ahithophel with him.

16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king, long live the king!

17 But Absalom said to Hussai, Is this kindness to your friend? Why didn't you go with your friend?

18 And Hussai said to Absalom, Nay, but him that chooseth the LORD, and all the people, and all the men of Israel, will I be his, and with him will I abide.

19 And besides, whom shall I serve? Could it not be in front of his son? As I served before your father, so I will be before you.

20 Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Advise among yourselves what we should do.

21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's concubines, which he has left to guard the house; and so shall all Israel hear that thou hast made thyself an abomination to thy father: and the hands of all that are with thee shall be strengthened.

22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom in the land: and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23 And it was the counsel of Aquithophel, which counseled in those days, as if the word of God had been consulted: such was all the counsel of Aquithophel, both to David and to Absalom.
