Leviticus 17
The ban on eating blood
10 And any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that eat any blood, against that soul that eateth blood, I will set my face, and will cut off from his people.
11 For the soul of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood which shall make atonement for the soul.
12 Therefore I have said unto the children of Israel, There shall neither blood be eaten of the soul nor the stranger that sojourneth among you shall eat blood.
13 And any man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who hunt for a beast or a fowl that is eaten, shall shed his blood, and cover it with powder;
14 For he is the soul of all flesh; His blood is for his soul: therefore I have said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not eat the blood of any flesh: for the soul of all flesh is his blood; Anyone who eats it will be excised.
15 And every soul among the strangers, or among strangers, that shall eat a dead body, or that which is lacerated, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself with water, and be unclean until the even; Then it will be clean.
16 But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he will bear his iniquity.
