Leviticus 16The annual feast of atonements29 And this shall be a statute for ever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work, neither the natural nor the stranger that sojourneth among you.30 For in that day shall be made an atonement for you, to cleanse you: and ye shall be purified from all your sins before the Lord.31 It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls: this is a perpetual statute.32 And the priest who is anointed, and who is holy, to administer the priesthood in the place of his father, shall make atonement, having clothed the linen garments, the holy garments:33 So shall the holy sanctuary atoned for; He shall also expiate the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar; He shall likewise make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the congregation.34 And this shall be a perpetual statute to you, to make atonement for the children of Israel of all their sins once in the year. And Aaron did as the LORD commanded Moses.
