Leviticus 16How Aaron Must Enter The Sanctuary1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, after the two sons of Aaron died, when they came before the LORD, and died.2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron thy brother, That he go not into the sanctuary at all times, into the veil, before the mercy seat that is upon the ark, that he die not; Because I appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.3 And Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.4 And he shall put on the holy garment of linen, and shall have linen coats of linen upon his flesh, and shall gird himself with a linen girdle, and shall cover himself with a linen miter: these are holy garments; Flesh in water, and clothe them.5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-he-goats for a sin-offering, and one ram for a burnt-offering.6 And Aaron shall offer the bullock of the sin-offering, which shall be for him; And make an atonement for himself and for his house.7 And he shall take both the goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.8 And Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.9 And Aaron shall bring the goat, upon which the lot shall fall by the LORD, and offer it for a sin offering.10 But the goat, upon which the lot shall fall to be a goat, shall stand before the Lord alive to make atonement with him, to send him into the wilderness as a goat out of the ground.
