Nadab and Abihu die before the Lord
1 And the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, took every man his censer, and put fire thereon, and put incense upon it, and brought strange fire before the face of the LORD, which he commanded them not.
2 And fire came out from before the LORD, and consumed them; And they died before the Lord.
3 And Moses said unto Aaron, This is the thing which Jehovah hath spoken, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come unto me, and I will be glorified before all the people. But Aaron was silent.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, Come, take your brothers from before the sanctuary, out of the camp.
5 And they came and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6 And Moses said to Aaron and to his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, Ye shall not uncover your heads, nor rend your garments, lest ye die, neither shall there come a great indignation upon all the congregation: but your brethren, all the house of Israel, Lament this fire which the Lord has kindled.
7 Neither shalt ye go forth out of the congregation, lest ye die; For the oil of the Lord's anointing is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,
9 You shall not drink wine or strong drink, and your sons with you shall not drink when you enter the tabernacle of the congregation, lest you die: it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations;
10 And to make the difference between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,
11 And to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
