The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 42 The Restoration of the Temple: The Holy Chambers

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 42

The Restoration of the Temple: The Holy Chambers

After this he brought me out to the outer court toward the north, and led me to the chambers that were in front of the building on the north side.

The north entrance was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide.

In front of the twenty cubits that the inner court was, and in front of the pavement that the outer court was, there was gallery against gallery on three levels.

And before the chambers there was a walkway ten cubits wide on the inside, and a path one cubit wide; and their entrances were toward the north.

And the upper chambers were narrower, because the galleries here took up more space than in the lower and middle chambers of the building.

For they were three stories high, and they did not have columns like the columns of the courts; Therefore, from the ground they narrowed more than those below and those in the middle.

And the wall that was outside, opposite the chambers, on the way to the outer court, before the chambers, was fifty cubits long.

For the length of the chambers that were in the outer court was fifty cubits; and behold, in front of the temple there were one hundred cubits.

And from the lower part of these chambers was the entrance on the east side, when one enters them from the outer court.

In the width of the wall of the court toward the east, before the separate place, and before the building, there were also chambers.

And the way in front of them was like the chambers, and it faced the north; according to its length, so was its width; and all its exits were also according to its features, and according to its entrances.

And according to the entrances of the chambers, which faced the southward way, there was also an entrance at the top of the way, from the way in front of the right wall, to the way eastward, when one enters by them.

Then he said to me, “The northward chambers and the southward chambers, which are before the separate place, are holy chambers, where the priests, who approach the Lord, shall eat the most holy things; there they shall put the most holy things, and the food offerings, and the sin offering, and the guilt offering, for the place is holy.

When the priests enter, they shall not go out of the sanctuary to the outer court, but shall put on their garments with which they minister, for they are holy; and they shall put on other garments, and so approach the place belonging to the people.”

And when he had finished measuring the inner temple, he brought me out by way of the gate that faces east; and he measured all around.

He measured the east side with the measuring rod, five hundred rods with the measuring rod all around.

He measured the north side, five hundred rods with the measuring rod all around.

He also measured the south side, five hundred rods with the measuring rod.

He went around to the west side and measured five hundred rods with the measuring rod.

He measured on all four sides; and there was a wall all around, five hundred rods long and five hundred rods wide, to make a separation between the holy and the profane.
