Lamentation over Egypt

17 In the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me:

18 “Son of man, lament over the multitude of Egypt and bring them down to the lowest place, to those who go down to the pit.

19 Whom are you surpassing in beauty? Go down and lie with the uncircumcised.

20 Among those slain by the sword they shall fall; she is given over to the sword; drag her away, and all her multitude.

21 The mightiest of the mighty shall speak to her from the midst of Sheol, with those who help her: ‘They have gone down, and are among the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.’

22 Assyria is there, with all its assembly; its graves are all around it; They were all pierced through and fell by the sword.

23 Their graves were placed in the innermost part of the pit, and their assembly is around their grave: all of them were pierced through and fell by the sword, those who had caused terror in the land of the living.

24 There is Elam with all his multitude around his grave: all of them were pierced through and fell by the sword; they went down uncircumcised to the lowest parts of the earth; they caused terror in the land of the living, and they bore their shame with those who went down to the pit.

25 In the midst of the slain they placed a bed for him among all his multitude; around him are his graves: all of them are uncircumcised, pierced through by the sword; for they caused terror in the land of the living, and they bore their shame with those who went down to the pit; he was placed in the midst of the slain.

26 There are Meshech and Tubal with all their multitude; Around them are their graves: all of them are uncircumcised and slain by the sword, for they caused terror in the land of the living.

27 And they will not be found with the mighty men who fell from among the uncircumcised, who went down to the grave with their weapons of war and put their swords under their heads, and their iniquity is upon their bones, for they were the terror of the heroes in the land of the living.

28 You also will be broken among the uncircumcised, and you will lie with those who were slain by the sword.

29 There is Hedom, its kings and all its princes, who were placed in its power with those who were slain by the sword: these lie with the uncircumcised and with those who went down to the pit.

30 There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who went down with the slain, ashamed of the terror caused by their power; and they lie uncircumcised with those who were slain by the sword, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

31 Pharaoh will see them, and will be comforted with all his multitude; yes, Pharaoh himself, and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord God.

32 For I also have put my terror in the land of the living; therefore Pharaoh and all his multitude shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword, says the Lord God.
