The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 28 Prophecy against the King of Tyre

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 28

Prophecy against the King of Tyre

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because your heart is so proud, and you say, ‘I am a god; I sit enthroned as a god in the depths of the sea,’ though you are a mere mortal and not God, and you set your mind on being like God,

3 Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that can be hidden from you.

4 By your wisdom and understanding you have gained wealth and acquired gold and silver for your treasuries.

5 By the greatness of your wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart is so proud because of your wealth,

6 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you set your mind on being like God,

7 Behold, I will bring strangers upon you, the most formidable of the nations, who shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and shall tarnish your splendor.

8 They shall bring you down to the pit, and you shall die the death of those slain in the midst of the seas.

9 Will you still say before him who kills you, ‘I am God’? But you are a man, and not God, in the hand of him who pierces you.

10 You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers; for I have spoken it, says the Lord God.
