Numbers 05
Proof of woman suspected of adultery
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When the wife of one turneth away, and transgresseth against him,
So that a man may lie down with her, and be hidden in the sight of her husband, and she shall conceal him, and if she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, and in the act not be taken,
And let the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and let his wife be jealous, because she be defiled, or the spirit of jealousy come upon her, and her jealous wife, and she be not defiled,
And the man shall bring his wife before the priest, and shall bring his offering together for it: a tenth of an ephah of barley meal, and on which he shall not dip oil, neither shall he make incense thereon, because it is a meat offering of jealousy , a memorial offering, which brings iniquity into remembrance.
And the priest shall bring it near, and set it before the LORD.
And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and he shall take the priest of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle, and shall lie down in the water.
And the priest shall present the woman before the Lord, and shall shew the woman's head; and the meat offering, which is the meat offering of jealousy, shall he put upon his hands, and the bitter water that bringeth the curse shall be in the hand of the priest.
And the priest shall summon her, and say unto the woman, If no man lay with thee, and if thou hast not departed from thy husband by uncleanness, from this bitter, cursing waters, thou shalt be free.
But if you have departed from your husband, and have defiled yourself, and some man has gone from your husband, he has lain with you;
And the priest shall conjure the woman with the conjuration of the curse; and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD shall make thee a curse and a fornication in the midst of thy people, the Lord causing thee to lay down the thigh, and to swell the belly.
And this cursing water shall enter into thy bowels, to cause thy belly to swell, and to make thy thigh low. Then the woman will say, Amen, Amen.
And the priest shall write these same curses in a book, and with the bitter water he shall put them out.
And the bitter water shall curse the woman, and the cursing water shall enter therein to bewail.
And the priest shall take the meat offering of the jealousy out of the hand of the wife, and shall wave the meat offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar.
And the priest shall take a handful of the meat offering, and the meat offering, and burn it on the altar: and he shall give the woman water to drink.
And when he had given her water to drink, if she had defiled herself and transgressed her husband, then the cursed water would enter her for bitterness, and her belly would swell, and her thigh fall down; and that woman shall be a curse among her people.
And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean, then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
This is the law of jealousy, when the woman in the power of her husband shall turn aside and be defiled;
Or when a man of jealousy spreads about the man and is jealous of his wife, then present the woman before the Lord and the priest in her shall perform all this law.
And the man shall be delivered from iniquity, but the woman shall bear her iniquity.
