The Levites Are Not Counted

47 But the Levites, according to the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them,

48 Because the LORD had spoken to Moses, saying,

49 Thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither shalt thou take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

50 But thou shalt set the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all their vessels, and over all that is theirs; they shall bear the tabernacle and all its vessels; and they shall rule, and they shall set up their camp round about the tabernacle.

51 And when the tabernacle is gone, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle lies in the camp, the Levites shall set it up; and the stranger that comes will be.

52 And the children of Israel shall set up their tents, every man in his own company, and every man by his standard, according to his armies.

53 But the Levites shall set their tents round about the tabernacle of the testimony, that there may be no indignation upon the congregation of the children of Israel; therefore the Levites shall take heed to the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.

54And the children of Israel did so: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
