The order of the tribes in the camp

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 The children of Israel shall set up their tents, every man under his standard, according to the insignia of the house of his fathers; and they shall stand before the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pit their tents.

3 And they shall set their tabernacles from the east side toward the east, and they shall be the standard of the army of Judah, according to their squadrons; and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be prince of the children of Judah.

4 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and six hundred.

5 And next to him shall be their tents of the tribe of Issachar; and Nathanael the son of Zuar shall be prince of the children of Issachar.

6 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7 Then the tribe of Zebulun; and Eliab the son of Helon shall be prince of the children of Zebulun.

8 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9 All those who were numbered of the army of Judah, one hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their squadrons, shall march first.

10 And the standard of the army of Reuben, according to his armies, shall be to the south side: and Elazhur the son of Sedur shall be prince of the children of Reuben.

11 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

12 And the tribe of Semeon shall lie by the tents thereof; And Shelumiel the son of Zadokadai shall be prince of the children of Simeon.

13 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14 And the tribe of Gad. and Elisaph the son of Reuel shall be prince of the children of Gad.

15 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

16 All that were numbered in the army of Reuben were a hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty, according to their squadrons: and they shall march in the second place.

17 And the tabernacle of the congregation shall go with the army of the Levites in the midst of the armies: as they have pitched their tents, so shall they go every one in his place, according to their banners.

18 And the standard of the army of Ephraim shall be to the west, according to their squadrons; and Elishama the son of Ammihud shall be prince of the children of Ephraim.

19 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.

20 And the tribe of Manasseh was with him; and Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur shall be prince of the children of Manasseh.

21 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

22 And the tribe of Benjamin: and Abidan the son of Gideoni shall be prince of the children of Benjamin:

23 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

24 All that were numbered in the host of Ephraim were a hundred and eight thousand and a hundred, according to their squadrons: and they shall march in the third place.

25 And the standard of the host of Dan shall be toward the north, according to his armies: and Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai shall be prince of the children of Dan.

26 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

27 And the tribe of Asher shall lie down beside it, and Pagiel the son of Ocran shall be prince of the children of Asher.

28 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29 And the tribe of Naphtali: and Airam the son of Enan shall be prince of the children of Naphtali.

30 And his army, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31 All that were numbered in the army of Dan were a hundred and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred: they shall march in the last place; according to their flags.

32 These are they that were numbered of the children of Israel according to the house of their fathers: all that were numbered of the hosts by their bands were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.

33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel, as the Lord commanded Moses.

34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses; so they settled the camp according to their banners, and so they marched, every one according to his generations, according to the house of his fathers.
