The Majesty of God's Kingdom: The Punishment of the Wicked: An Exhortation to Piety and Rejoicing

1 The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many islands be glad.

2 Clouds and darkness are around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

3 A fire goes before him; it burns up his enemies on every side.

4 His lightnings give light to the world; the earth saw and trembled.

5 The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.

7 Let all who serve carved images be put to shame, who boast of worthless idols; bow down before him, all you gods.

8 Zion heard and was glad; and the children of Judah rejoiced because of your righteousness, O Lord.

9 For you, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth, far above all gods.

10 You who love the Lord, hate evil; he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, O righteous, and give thanks in remembrance of his holiness.

2 Nuvens e obscuridade estão ao redor dele; justiça e juízo são a base do seu trono.

3 Adiante dele vai um fogo que abrasa os seus inimigos em redor.

4 Os seus relâmpagos alumiam o mundo; a terra viu e tremeu.

5 Os montes se derretem como cera na presença do Senhor, na presença do Senhor de toda a terra.

6 Os céus anunciam a sua justiça, e todos os povos vêem a sua glória.

7 Confundidos sejam todos os que servem imagens de escultura, que se gloriam de ídolos inúteis: prostrai-vos diante dele, todos os deuses.

1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!

2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; proclaim his salvation from day to day!

3 Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all peoples.

4 For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods.

5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless; but the Lord made the heavens.

6 Glory and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!

8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

 9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns; the world also will be established, so that it will not be moved. He will judge the peoples with righteousness.”

11 Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that is in it.

12 Let the field be glad, and all that is in it; then all the trees of the forest will be glad,

13 Before the face of the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth.

6 Glória e majestade estão ante a sua face, força e formosura no seu santuário.

The Psalmist invites us to praise the Lord and to celebrate Him with a loud voice

1 Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us sing joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

2 Let us come before his face with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise to him with psalms.

3 For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods.

4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the heights of the mountains are his.

5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord who made us.

7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if you hear his voice,

8 Harden not your hearts as at Meribah, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness; 

9 When your fathers tempted me, they tested me and saw my work.

10 For forty years I was angry with that generation, and I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways."

A Plea for God's Justice Against Evildoers

1 O Lord, God, to whom vengeance belongs, O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.

2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the earth: render recompense to the proud.

3 How long, O Lord, how long will the wicked rejoice?

4 How long will they utter and speak hard things, and all the workers of iniquity boast?

5 They have cut down thy people, and afflicted thine inheritance.

6 They have slain the widow and the stranger, and slain the fatherless.

7 They have said, The Lord will not see; the God of Jacob will not regard this.

8 Pay attention, you brutal men among the people; and you fools, when will you be wise?

9 He who made the ear, shall he not hear? And he who formed the eye, shall he not see?

10 He who reproves the people, shall he not punish? And he who gives man knowledge, shall he not know?

11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12 Blessed is the man whom you rebuke, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law;

13 That you may give him rest from days of trouble, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, nor forsake his inheritance.

15 But judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will be for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul would have dwelt in silence.

18 When I said, "My foot slips," your lovingkindness, O Lord, held me up.

19 When my anxiety was multiplied within me, your comforts refreshed my soul.

20 Should the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which devises mischief under the law?

21 They rush upon the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.

22 But the Lord has been my refuge, and my God the rock in which I have taken refuge.

23 He will bring their iniquity upon them; he will destroy them in their own wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.

13 Para lhe dares descanso dos dias maus, até que se abra a cova para o ímpio.

14 Pois o Senhor não rejeitará o seu povo, nem desamparará a sua herança.

15 Mas o juízo voltará a ser justiça, e hão de seguí-lo todos os retos de coração.

16 Quem será por mim contra os malfeitores? Quem se porá ao meu lado contra os que praticam a iniqüidade?

17 Se o Senhor não fora em meu auxílio já a minha alma habitaria no lugar do silêncio.

18 Quando eu disse: O meu pé vacila; a tua benignidade, Senhor, me susteve.

19 Multiplicando-se dentro de mim os meus cuidados, as tuas consolações recrearam a minha alma.

20 Podia acaso associar-se contigo o trono de iniqüidade, que forja o mal tendo por pretexto a lei?

21 Acorrem em tropel contra a vida do justo, e condenam o sangue inocente.

22 Mas o Senhor foi o meu alto retiro; e o meu Deus a rocha em que me refugiei.

23 E fará recair sobre eles a sua própria iniqüidade; e os destruirá na sua própria malícia: o Senhor nosso Deus os destruirá.

1 The Lord reigns; he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed and girded with strength; the world also is established, and cannot be moved.

2 Your throne has been established since ancient times; you have been from everlasting.

3 The rivers, O God, raise their voice; the rivers lift up their waves.

4 But the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of mighty waters, than the mighty waves of the sea.

5 Your testimonies are very sure; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forever.

The Psalmist Praises God for His Work, Justice, and Grace

1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

2 That I may declare your lovingkindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night:

3 On an instrument of ten strings, and on the psaltery, and on the harp with a solemn sound.

4 For you, O Lord, have made me glad through your work; I will triumph in the works of your hands.

5 How great are your works, O Lord! How deep are your thoughts!

6 A brutish man knows nothing, and a fool does not understand this.

7 The wicked spring up like grass, and all the workers of iniquity flourish, but they are destroyed forever.

8 But you, O Lord, are the Most High forever.

9 For behold, your enemies, O Lord, behold, your enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10 But you will exalt my horn like the horn of a unicorn; I will be anointed with fresh oil.

11 My eyes shall see my desire upon my enemies, and my ears shall hear of the evildoers that rise up against me.

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing;

1 Bom é louvar ao Senhor, e cantar louvores ao teu nome, ó Altíssimo;

2 Para de manhã anunciar a tua benignidade, e todas as noites a tua fidelidade:

3 Sobre um instrumento de dez cordas, e sobre o saltério: sobre a harpa com som solene.

4 Pois tu, Senhor, me alegraste com os teus feitos: exultarei nas obras das tuas mãos.

5 Quão grandes são. Senhor, as tuas obras! Mui profundos são os teus pensamentos.

6 O homem brutal nada sabe, e o louco não entende isto.

7 Brotam os ímpios como a erva, e florescem todos os que praticam a iniqüidade, mas para serem destruídos para sempre.

8 Mas tu, Senhor, és o Altíssimo para sempre.

9 Pois eis que os teus inimigos, Senhor, eis que os teus inimigos perecerão; serão dispersos todos os que praticam a iniqüidade.

10 Mas tu exaltarás o meu poder, como o do unicórnio: serei ungido com óleo fresco.

11 Os meus olhos verão cumprido o meu desejo sobre os meus inimigos, e os meus ouvidos dele se certificarão quanto aos malfeitores que se levantam contra mim.

12 O justo florescerá como a palmeira; crescerá como o cedro no Líbano.

13 Os que estão plantados na casa do Senhor florescerão nos átrios do nosso Deus.

14 Na velhice ainda darão frutos: serão viçosos e florescentes;

15 Para anunciarem que o Senhor é reto: Ele é a minha rocha, e nele não há injustiça.

परमेश्वर में शरण लेने वालों की सुरक्षा

1 जो परमप्रधान के गुप्त स्थान में रहता है, वह सर्वशक्तिमान की छाया में निवास करेगा।

2 मैं यहोवा के विषय में कहूंगा, “वह मेरा शरणस्थान और गढ़ है, मेरा परमेश्वर; मैं उस पर भरोसा रखूंगा।”

3 क्योंकि वह तुम्हें बहेलिये के जाल से और घातक महामारी से बचाएगा।

4 वह तुम्हें अपने पंखों की आड़ में ले लेगा, और तुम उसके पंखों के नीचे शरण पाओगे। उसकी सच्चाई तुम्हारी ढाल और कवच है।

5 तुम रात के भय से नहीं डरोगे, न ही दिन में उड़ने वाले तीर से,

6 न ही अंधेरे में चलने वाली महामारी से, न ही दोपहर में विनाश करने वाली तबाही से।

7 तुम्हारे पास एक हजार और तुम्हारे दाहिने हाथ पर दस हजार गिर सकते हैं, लेकिन यह तुम्हारे पास नहीं आएगा।

8 केवल अपनी आँखों से तुम देखोगे और दुष्टों का प्रतिफल देखोगे।

9 क्योंकि हे यहोवा, तू मेरा शरणस्थान है; परमप्रधान तेरा निवासस्थान है। 

10 कोई विपत्ति तुझ पर न पड़ेगी, न कोई दु:ख तेरे डेरे के निकट आएगा।

11 क्योंकि वह अपने दूतों को तेरे निमित्त आज्ञा देगा, कि वे तेरे सब मार्गों में तेरी रक्षा करें।

12 वे तुझे हाथों हाथ उठा लेंगे, ऐसा न हो कि तेरे पांवों में पत्थर से ठेस लगे।

13 तू सिंह और नाग को रौंदेगा; जवान सिंह और सर्प को तू पैरों तले रौंदेगा।

14 उसने मुझ से प्रेम किया है, इसलिये मैं उसको छुड़ाऊंगा; मैं उसको ऊंचे स्थान पर रखूंगा, क्योंकि उसने मेरे नाम को जान लिया है।

15 वह मुझे पुकारेगा, और मैं उसको उत्तर दूंगा; संकट में मैं उसके संग रहूंगा; मैं उसको छुड़ाऊंगा और उसका आदर करूंगा।

The Security of Those Who Take Refuge in God

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in him I will trust.”

3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will take refuge. His truth is your shield and buckler.

5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 Nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 Only with your eyes will you look and see the reward of the wicked.

9 For you, O Lord, are my refuge; the Most High is your dwelling place. 

10 No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your tent.

11 For he will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways.

12 They will bear you up in their hands, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.

A segurança daquele que se refugia em Deus

 

1 Aquele que habita no esconderijo do Altíssimo, à sombra do Onipotente descansará.

2 Direi do Senhor: Ele é o meu Deus, o meu refúgio, a minha fortaleza, e nele confiarei.

3 Porque ele te livrará do laço do passarinheiro, e da peste perniciosa.

4 Ele te cobrirá com as suas penas, e debaixo das suas asas estarás seguro: A sua verdade é escudo e broquel.

5 Não temerás espanto noturno, nem seta que voe de dia,

6 Nem peste que ande na escuridão, nem mortandade que assole ao meio dia.

7 Mil cairão ao teu lado, e dez mil à tua direita, mas tu não serás atingido,

8 Somente com os teus olhos olharás, e verás a recompensa dos ímpios.

9 Porque tu, ó Senhor, és o meu refúgio! O Altíssimo é a tua habitação.

10 Nenhum mal te sucederá, nem praga alguma chegará à tua tenda.

11 Porque aos seus anjos dará ordem a teu respeito, para te guardarem em todos os teus caminhos.

12 Eles te sustentarão nas suas mãos, para que não tropeces com o teu pé em pedra.

13 Pisarás o leão e o áspide; calcarás aos pés o filho do leão e a serpente.

14 Pois que tão encarecidamente me amou, também eu o livrarei; pô-lo-ei num alto retiro, porque conheceu o meu nome.

15 Ele me invocará, e eu lhe responderei; estarei com ele na angústia; livra-lo-ei, e o glorificarei.

16 Dar-lhe-ei abundância de dias, e lhe mostrarei a minha salvação.
