II Chronicles 36 Zedekiah Reigns

 II Chronicles 36

Zedekiah Reigns

11 Zedekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.

12 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord his God; he did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke for the Lord.

13 Moreover, he rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had sworn an oath to him by God. But he hardened his neck and became very stubborn in his heart, and did not return to the Lord, the God of Israel.

14 And all the chief priests and the people transgressed more and more, following all the abominations of the heathen, and they defiled the house of the Lord, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

15 And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent his word to them by his messengers, rising early and sending them; because he had compassion on his people and his dwelling place.

16 But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people so that there was no remedy.

17 For he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of his sanctuary; he had no pity on young men, or on young women, or on old men, or on the feeble-minded; he gave them all into his hand.

18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king and of his princes, he carried them all to Babylon.

19 And they burned the house of the Lord, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem; and they burned all its palaces with fire, destroying also all its precious vessels.

20 And those who escaped the sword he carried away to Babylon, and they became his servants and his sons' servants until the reign of the kingdom of Persia.

21 That the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, until the land enjoyed its Sabbaths; all the days of its desolation it rested until seventy years were completed.

22 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it in writing, saying,

23 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up.

II Crônicas 36 Zedequias reina

II Crônicas 36

Zedequias reina

Jehoiachin Reigns

5 Jehoiachin was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem, and did evil in the sight of the Lord his God.

6 Then Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him, and bound him with fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

7 Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple in Babylon.

8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiachin, and his abominations which he did, and all that was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days, and did evil in the sight of the Lord.

1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in place of his father.

2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

3 For the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and condemned the land to a levy of one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold.

4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king of Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiachin. But Jehoahaz took Necho his brother and brought him to Egypt.

II Chronicles 35 Josiah provokes the king of Egypt and is killed

 II Chronicles 35

Josiah provokes the king of Egypt and is killed

20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates. And Josiah went out to meet him.

21 Then he sent messengers, saying, "What have I to do with you, king of Judah? As for you, I am not coming against you today, but against the house that is fighting against me. And God has said to me, 'Beware of opposing God, who is with me, or I will destroy you.'"

22 But Josiah did not turn his face away from him, but disguised himself to fight with him. He did not listen to the words of Necho that came from the mouth of God, but came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

23 And the archers shot at King Josiah: and the king said to his servants, Take me hence; for I am sorely wounded.

24 And his servants took him out of the chariot, and carried him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and they buried him in the tombs of his fathers: and all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25 And Jeremiah made a lamentation for Josiah: and all the male and female singers spake of Josiah in their lamentation unto this day: for they made them a statute in Israel; and, behold, they are written in the lamentation.

26 And the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his good deeds, as it is written in the law of the LORD:

27 And his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

II Crônicas 35

Josias provoca o rei do Egito e é morto

5 And be in the sanctuary according to the divisions of the paternal houses of your brothers, the children of the people: and let there be for each one a portion of the paternal houses of the Levites.

15 And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were at their station, according to the commandment of David, and of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, the king's seer, and the gatekeepers at every gate;

II Chronicles 35 The Passover Celebration in Jerusalem

 II Chronicles 35

The Passover Celebration in Jerusalem

1 Then Josiah celebrated the Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and they killed the Passover lamb on the tenth day of the first month.

2 He appointed the priests to their positions and encouraged them to serve in the house of the Lord.

3 He said to the Levites who taught all Israel and were consecrated to the Lord: "Put the sacred ark in the house that Solomon son of David, king of Israel, built. You will no longer have this burden on your shoulders. Now serve the Lord your God and his people Israel.

4 Prepare yourselves according to the houses of your fathers, according to your divisions, according to the order of David king of Israel and according to the order of Solomon his son.

5 And stand in the sanctuary according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of your brothers, the sons of the people, and let each one have a portion from the fathers' houses of the Levites.

6 And ye shall kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brethren, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

7 And Josiah gave to the children of the people lambs and goats out of the flock, all for the passover sacrifices, thirty thousand for all that were present, and three thousand oxen; these were of the king's substance.

8 And his princes gave willingly unto the people, and to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Jeiel the ruler of the house of God, gave to the priests for the passover sacrifices two thousand and six hundred head of cattle, and three hundred oxen.

9 And Conaniah, and Shemaiah, and Nethanel, his brethren, and Hashabiah, and Jeiel, and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, gave to the Levites for the Passover sacrifices five thousand head of sheep and five hundred oxen.

10 So the service was prepared; and the priests stood in their posts, and the Levites in their courses, according to the commandment of the king.

11 Then they slaughtered the Passover lambs; and the priests sprinkled the blood that had been received on their hands, and the Levites skinned the cattle.

12 And they set aside the burnt offerings to give to the sons of the people according to the divisions of the fathers' houses, to offer to the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses; and so they did with the oxen.

13 And they roasted the Passover with fire according to the ordinance, and they boiled the holy offerings in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and they distributed them quickly among all the people.

14 Then they prepared what was needed for themselves and for the priests; for the priests, the sons of Aaron, were busy until night with the sacrifice of the burnt offerings and the fat; and the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.

15 And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were at their post, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer, and the porters at each gate; they had no need to turn aside from their service, for their brethren the Levites prepared what was needed for them.

16 So the entire service of the Lord was established on that day, to celebrate the Passover and to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord, according to the commandment of King Josiah.

17 And the children of Israel who were present there celebrated the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.

18 For there had never been such a Passover celebrated in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet; nor had any king of Israel celebrated such a Passover as the one that Josiah celebrated with the priests and Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present there, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah this Passover was celebrated.

II Chronicles 34 Huldah the Prophetess Predicts the Doom of Jerusalem

 II Chronicles 34

Huldah the Prophetess Predicts the Doom of Jerusalem

22 Then Hilkiah and the king's messengers went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Harsha, keeper of the wardrobe (she lived in Jerusalem in the second half); and they spoke to her in this way.

23 And she said to them, "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Tell the man who sent you to me:

24 Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the curses that are written in the book that was read before the king of Judah.

25 Because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands; therefore My wrath has been poured out on this place, and it will not be quenched.

26 But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, thus shall you say to him: Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the words which you have heard:

27 Because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants, and you humbled yourself before me, and tore your clothes, and wept before me, therefore I have heard you, says the Lord.

28 Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all this evil that I will bring upon this place and upon its inhabitants.' So they returned with this answer to the king.

29 Then the king summoned and assembled all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30 Then the king went up to the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the Levites and all the people from the greatest to the least, and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.

31 Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that are written in this book.

32 And he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin stand up; and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

33 And Josiah removed all the abominations out of all the lands that belonged to the children of Israel, and he did all that were in the lands that were written in the book. and he compelled all who were present in Israel to serve the Lord their God with such worship: All his days they did not turn aside from following the Lord, the God of their fathers.

II Chronicles 34 Josiah Repairs the Temple. Hilkiah Finds the Book of the Law

 II Chronicles 34

Josiah Repairs the Temple. Hilkiah Finds the Book of the Law

8 In the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purified the land and the temple, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah and Maaseiah the ruler of the city and Joah the son of Jehoahaz the recorder to repair the temple of the Lord his God.

9 They came to Hilkiah the high priest and gave the money that had been brought into the temple of the Lord, which the Levites who kept the door had collected from Manasseh, Ephraim and all the rest of Israel, as well as from all Judah and Benjamin. Then they returned to Jerusalem.

10 They gave it to those who had charge of the work and oversight of the temple of the Lord, and they gave it to those who did the work and labor in the temple of the Lord, to repair and repair the temple.

11 And they gave it to the foremen and builders, to buy hewn stone and timber for the joints, and to repair the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

12 And these men did the work faithfully; and the overseers over them were Joath and Obadiah, Levites of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam of the sons of the Kohathites, to advance the work, and other Levites, all who were skilled in musical instruments.

13 And they were over the burdenbearers and overseers of all who did any work; and of the Levites were the scribes, and the officers, and the gatekeepers.

14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.

15 And they were in charge of the work, and of the workmen ... and of the workmen, and of the workmen and of the workmen and of the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the workmen and the work 15 Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord." Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan.

16 Shaphan brought the book to the king and reported to the king, saying, "Your servants have done everything they were told to do."

17 They gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord and gave it to the overseers and to those who did the work.

18 Shaphan the scribe told the king, "Hilkiah the priest gave me a book." Shaphan read from it before the king.

19 When the king heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.

20 Then the king sent Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's minister, saying,

21 "Go, inquire of the Lord for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah about the words of this book that has been found, for the wrath of the Lord is great and has been poured out on us, because our fathers did not keep the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book."

II Crônicas 34 Josias repara o templo. Hilquias acha o livro da lei

II Crônicas 34

Josias repara o templo.

E Hilquias deu o livro a Safã.
