The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 60
Jerusalem is restored to its glory
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.
Lift up your eyes all around and see; they all gather together and come to you; your sons will come from afar, and your daughters will be carried on your side.
Then you will see and be radiant, and your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth of the sea will be brought to you, and the riches of the nations will come to you.
Herds of camels will cover you, young camels of Midian and Ephah; All will come from Sheba: they will bring gold and incense, and they will proclaim the praises of the Lord.
All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will ascend my altar with acceptance, and I will glorify the house of my glory.
Who are these that fly like clouds, and like doves to their windows?
Surely the islands will wait for me, and first the ships of Tarshish, to bring your children from afar, their silver and their gold with them, in the sanctification of the name of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.
And the sons of foreigners will build your walls, and their kings will serve you; for in my wrath I struck you, but in my kindness I have had mercy on you.
And your gates will be open continually; they will not be shut day or night; so that they may bring to you the riches of the nations, and their kings led in procession.
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly destroyed.
The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the cypress, the pine, and the box tree together, to adorn the place of my sanctuary, and I will glorify the place where my feet dwell.
The children of the oppressors shall come to you, bowing down; all who despised you shall prostrate themselves at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you the city of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Instead of the contempt and abhorrence to which you were subjected, so that no one passed through you, I will make you an everlasting excellency, a joy from generation to generation.
You shall suckle the milk of nations, and be nourished at the breasts of kings; And you will know that I am the Lord, your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
Instead of bronze I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver, and instead of wood bronze, and instead of stones iron; and I will make your inspectors peace and your tax collectors righteousness.
No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor desolation or destruction within your borders; but you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.
The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning will end.
And all your people will be righteous; they will inherit the land forever; They will be shoots planted by me, the work of my hands, so that I may be glorified.
The smallest one will become a thousand, and the least one a mighty nation. I, the Lord, will do this swiftly in its time.
