The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 52
Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for henceforth there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.
Shake off the dust, arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem; loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
For thus says the Lord: You were sold for nothing; you shall be redeemed without money.
For thus says the Lord God: My people went down to Egypt in times past to sojourn there, and Assyria oppressed them without cause.
And now, what have I to do here, says the Lord, since my people have been taken away without cause? Those who rule over them howl, says the Lord; and my name is continually blasphemed all day long.
Therefore my people shall know my name, for this reason, in that day; for I am he who says: Behold, here I am.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy, for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord returns to Zion.
Break forth into joyful song together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Depart, depart, go out from there, touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her, purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the Lord.
For you will not go out in haste, nor will you go fleeing; for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
