Kings 10
Solomon's Wealth
- And the weight of the gold that was brought to Solomon yearly was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold;
- Besides the merchants, and the hire of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the land.
- And King Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold he weighed for each buckler;
- And three hundred shields of beaten gold he weighed for each shield; and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
- And the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
- And the throne had six steps, and the head of the throne was round behind, and had a backrest on both sides up to the seat: and two lions stood by the backrests.
There were twelve lions on the six steps on either side; nothing like it had ever been done in any of the kingdoms.
All King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; there was no silver in them, for it was not valued in the days of Solomon.
For the king had the navies of Tarshish at sea with the navies of Hiram; and the navies of Tarshish returned once in three years, bringing gold and silver, ivory, apes and peacocks.
So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
And all the earth sought the face of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and apparel, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, and so forth, year by year.
And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen, so that he had one thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he brought them into the chariot cities; and others remained with the king in Jerusalem.
And the king made silver in Jerusalem as great as stones, and cedars as plentiful as the sycamore trees that are in the plain.
And they brought horses out of Egypt for Solomon: and the king's merchants took them by droves, a herd for a certain price.
And a chariot went up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: and so they brought them out by their means for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria.
