Joshua 11
Joshua's victories over various kings
And it came to pass after this, that, when Jabin king of Hazor heard him, he sent Jobab king of mamdom, and the king of Sinron, and the king of Achsafe;
And to the kings, which were in the north, in the mountains, and in the plain south of Kineroth, and in the plains, and in Nafoth-dor, out of the sea;
To the Canaanite of the east and west, and to the Amorite, and to the Hittite, and to the Hezeur, and to the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite at the foot of Hermon, in the land of Mizpah.
And these, and all their armies, with them went forth many people, even as the sand that is on the sea shore in multitude: and many horses and chariots.
All these kings gathered together, and came and pitched by the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not before them; For at this hour tomorrow I will give them all wounded before the children of Israel. Their horses shall you hock, and their chariots shall they burn with fire.
And Joshua and all the men of war with him came in haste to them into the waters of Merom: and they suddenly came upon them.
And the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel, and smote them, and followed them unto the great Sidon, and unto Mephrefoth Maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; they hurt them until they left none.
And Joshua did unto him, as the LORD said unto him, His horses hefted, and his chariots burned with fire.
And at that time Joshua returned, and took Hazor, and smote his king with the sword: because Hazor was before the head of all these kingdoms.
And every soul that was in it smote with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; nothing was left of breath, and Hazor burned with fire.
And Joshua took all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them: as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
Only the Israelites did not burn the cities that were on their hills: save Hazor alone, which Joshua burned.
And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel plundered unto themselves: they smote all the men with the edge of the sword, until they destroyed them: none of their breath left alive.
As the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua: and so did Joshua; not a word took away from all that the Lord commanded Moses.
So Joshua took all that land, and the mountains, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the plains, and the plains, and the mountains of Israel, and their plains;
From the bald mountain that goes up to Seir, even to Baal-gade in the valley of Lebanon, to the roots of mount Hermon: he took all their kings, and smote them, and slew them.
For many days Joshua made war with all kings.
There was no city that made peace with the children of Israel, but the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon: they took all by war.
For the Lord came, that their hearts might be hardened, to go out to meet Israel in war, to destroy them utterly, that they should not have mercy on them; but to destroy them all, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
And Joshua came at that time, and cut off the Enakim from the mountains of Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.
None of the Enakim were left in the land of the children of Israel: they remained only in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdoth.
So Joshua took all this land according to all that the LORD had said unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to the children of Israel according to their divisions, according to their tribes: and the land rested from war.
