1 E falou Eliseu áquela mulher cujo  filho vivificara, dizendo: Levanta-te, e vai-te, tu e tua família, e peregrina onde puderes peregrinar; porque o Senhor chamou a fome, a qual também virá à terra por sete anos.

2 E levantou-se a mulher e fez conforme a palavra do homem de Deus: porque foi ela com a sua família, e peregrinou na terra dos filisteus sete anos.

3 E sucedeu que, ao cabo dos sete anos, a mulher voltou da terra dos filisteus, e saiu a clamar ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras.

4 Ora o rei falava a Geazi, moço do homem de Deus, dizendo: Conta-me, peço-te, todas as grandes obras que Eliseu tem feito.

5 E sucedeu que, contando ele ao rei como vivificara a um menino morto, eis que a mulher cujo filho vivificara clamou ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras: então disse Geazi: Ó rei meu senhor, esta é a mulher, e este o seu filho a quem Eliseu vivificou.

1 Then Elisha said, "Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord: Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria."

2 But a certain captain, on whose hand the king was leaning, answered the man of God and said, "If the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this be done?" And he said, "Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but you will not eat of it."

3 And four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the gate, and they said to each other, "Why should we stay here until we die?"

4 If we say, "Let us go into the city," there is a famine in the city, and we will die there; and if we stay here, we will die also. So let us go now and find ourselves in the camp of the Syrians; and if they kill us, we will only die.

5 And they rose up at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they came to the entrance of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no man there.

 6 For the Lord had caused the camp of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses, as of a great army; and they said one to another, Behold, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. 

7 So they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, and the camp as it was, and fled for their lives.

 8 And when these lepers came to the entrance of the camp, they went into a tent, and ate and drank, and took from there silver, and gold, and garments, and went and hid them. Then they returned, and went into another tent, and took from there also some things, and hid them.

 9 Then they said to one another, “We have done no good; this day is a day of good news. And we have kept quiet. If we wait until the morning light, some evil will come upon us. So now let us go and tell the king’s house.” 

10 So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city, and told them, “We came to the camp of the Syrians, and behold, there was no one there, nor any voice of man, but horses tied and donkeys tied, and the tents as before.” 

11 So they called to the gatekeepers, and they told the king’s house. 

12 Then the king rose up in the night and said to his servants, “Now I will tell you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry.” So they went out of the camp and hid themselves in the field, saying, “When they come out of the city, we will take them alive and enter the city.”

 13 Then one of his servants answered and said, Let us take five of the horses of the remnant that are left here (see, they are like the whole multitude of the Israelites who are left here, and see, they are like the whole multitude of the Israelites who have perished), and let us send them away and see.

14 So they took two chariot horses, and the king sent them after the army of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

15 And they went after them to the Jordan; and, behold, all the way was full of garments and supplies, which the Syrians had thrown away in haste. And the messengers returned and reported it to the king.

16 Then the people went out and plundered the camp of the Syrians: and a measure of flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD. 

17 And the king had set the captain on whose hand he leaned at the gate: and the people trampled him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, which he spake when the king came down to him. 

18 For it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, To-morrow about this time shall two measures of barley be sold for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria. 

19 And the captain answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, could it be done according to this word? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

 20 And so it came to pass unto him, for the people trampled him in the gate, and he died.

3 E quatro homens leprosos estavam à entrada da porta, os quais disseram uns aos outros: Para que estaremos nós aqui até morremos?

4 Se dissermos: Entremos na cidade, há fome na cidade, e morreremos aí; e se ficarmos aqui, também morreremos: vamos nós pois agora, e demos conosco no arraial dos siros:  e se nos matarem, tão somente morreremos.

5 E levantaram-se ao crepúsculo, para irem ao arraial dos siros; e chegando à entrada do arraial dos siros, eis que não havia ali ninguém.

6 Porque o Senhor fizera ouvir no arraial dos siros ruídos de carros e ruídos de cavalos, como ruído de um grande exército; de maneira que disseram uns aos outros: Eis que o rei de Israel alugou contra nós os reis dos heteus e os reis dos egípcios, para virem contra nós.

7 Pelo que se levantaram, e fugiram no crepúsculo, e deixaram as suas tendas, e os seus cavalos, e os seus jumentos, e o arraial como estava: e fugiram para salvarem a sua vida.

8 Chegando pois estes leprosos à entrada so arraial, entraram numa tenda, e comeram e beberam e tomaram dali prata, ouro, e vestidos, e foram, e os esconderam: então voltaram, e entraram em outra tenda, e dali também tomaram alguma coisa, e a esconderam.

9 Então disseram uns para os outros: Não fazemos bem: este dia é dia de boas novas. e nos calamos; se esperarmos até à luz da manhã, algum mal nos sobrevirá; pelo que agora vamos e anunciemos à casa do rei.

10 Vieram pois, e brandaram aos porteiros da cidade, e lhes anunciaram, dizendo: Fomos ao arraial dos siros e eis que lá não havia ninguém, nem voz de homem, porém, só cavalos atados, e jumentos atados, e as tendas como estavam dantes.

11 E chamaram os porteiros, e estes anunciaram dentro da casa do rei.

12 E o rei se levantou de noite, e disse a seus servos: Agora vos farei saber o que é que os siros nos fizeram: bem sabem eles que esfaimados estamos; pelo que saíram do arraial, a esconder-se pelo campo, dizendo: Quando saírem da cidade, então os tomaremos vivos, e entraremos na cidade.

13 Então um dos seus servos respondeu e disse: Tomem-se pois cinco dos cavalos do resto que ficou aqui dentro ( eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que ficaram aqui de resto, e eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que já pereceram) e enviemo-los, e vejamos.

14 Tomaram pois dois cavalos de carro; e o rei os enviou após o exército dos siros, dizendo: Ide, e vede.

15 E foram após eles até ao Jordão, e eis que todo o caminho estava cheio de vestidos e de aviamentos, que os siros, apressando-se, lançaram fora: e voltaram os mensageiros, e o manunciaram ao rei.

16 Então saiu o povo e saqueou o arraial dos siros: e havia uma medida de farinha por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, conforme a palavra do Senhor.

17 E pusera o rei à porta o capitão em cuja mão se encostava: e o povo o atropelou na porta, e ele morreu, como falara o homem de Deus, o que falou quando o rei descera a ele.

24 And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army together, and went up and besieged Samaria.

25 And there was a severe famine in Samaria: for, behold, they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and a fourth of a haunch of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

26 And it came to pass, as the king passed by the wall, that a woman called to him, saying, Help me, my lord, O king.

27 And he said unto her, If the LORD help thee, whence shall I help thee, from the threshing-floor, or from the winepress?

28 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she said, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and to morrow we will eat my son.

29 So we boiled my son, and did eat him: But the next day I said to her, “Give your son, that we may eat,” and she hid her son.

30 When the king heard the woman’s words, he tore his clothes and passed by on the wall. The people saw that he had sackcloth on his body inside.

31 And he said, “May God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on him today.”

32 Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man from before him. But before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Have you seen how the son of the murderer has sent to take my head off? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door on him and push him out with the door. Is there not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?” 

33 And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him, and said, Behold, this evil cometh from the Lord: what more shall I expect of the Lord?

26 E sucedeu que, passando o rei pelo muro uma mulher lhe brandou, dizendo: Acode-me, ó rei meu senhor.

27 E ele lhe disse: Se o Senhor te não acode, donde te acudirei eu, da eira ou do lagar?

28 Disse-lhe mais o rei: Que tens? E disse ela: Esta mulher me disse: Dá cá o teu filho, para que hoje o comamos, e amanhã comeremos o meu filho.

29 Cozemos pois o meu filho, e o comemos; mas dizendo-lhe eu ao outro dia: Dá cá o teu filho para que o comamos; escondeu o seu filho.

30 E sucedeu que, ouvindo o rei as palavras desta mulher, rasgou os seus vestidos, e ia passando pelo muro; e o povo viu que trazia cilício por dentro, sobre a sua carne.

31 E disse: Assim me faça Deus, e outro tanto, se a cabeça de Eliseu, filho de Safate, hoje ficar sobre ele.

32 Estava então Eliseu assentado em sua casa, e também os anciãos estavam assentados com ele. E enviou o rei um homem de diante de si; mas, antes que o mensageiro viesse a ele,  disse ele aos anciãos: Vistes como o filho do homicida mandou tirar-me a minha cabeça? Olhai, quando vier o mensageiro, fechai-lhe a porta, e empurrai-o para fora com a porta; porventura não vem ruído dos pés de seu senhor após ele?

33 E, estando ele ainda falando com eles, eis que o mensageiro descia a ele; e disse: Eis que este mal vem do Senhor; que mais pois esperaria do Senhor?

8 Now the king of Syria was at war with Israel; and he consulted with his servants, saying, "My encampment will be at such and such a place."

9 But the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you do not pass by such and such a place, for the Syrians have come down there."

10 So the king of Israel sent to the place of which the man of God had spoken to him, and had warned him, and he kept himself there, not once or twice.

11 Then the heart of the king of Syria was troubled because of this incident, and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you not tell me which of us is for the king of Israel?"

12 And one of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha the prophet, who is in Israel, has told the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.

13 And he said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And they told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

14 And he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

15 And the servant of the man of God rose up early and went out, and, behold, an army with horses and chariots compassed the city. And his servant said to him, Alas, my lord! what shall we do?

16 And he said, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw; and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 

18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, and said, Smite these people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha. 

19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, nor this the city: follow me, and I will lead you to the man whom ye seek. And he led them to Samaria. 

20 And it came to pass, when they came to Samaria, that Elisha said, O Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, that they might see; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria. 

21 And when the king of Israel saw them, he said unto Elisha, Shall I smite them, shall I smite them, my father? 

22 But he said, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldst thou smite them whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

23 And he made them a great feast, and they ate and drank. And he sent them away, and they went to their master. And no more bands of Syrians came into the land of Israel.

12 E disse um dos seus servos: Não, ó rei meu senhor; mas o profeta Eliseu, que está em Israel, faz saber ao rei de Israel as palavras que tu falas na tua câmara de dormir.

13 E ele disse: Vai, e vê onde ele está, para que envie, e mande trazê-lo. E fizeram-lhe saber, dizendo: Eis que está em Dotã.

14 Então enviou para lá cavalos, e carros, e um grande exército, os quais vieram de noite, e cercaram a cidade.

15 E o moço do homem de Deus se levantou mui cedo, e saiu, e eis que um exército tinha cercado a cidade com cavalos e carros; então o seu moço lhe disse: Ai, meu senhor! Que faremos?

16 E ele disse: Não temas; porque mais são os que estão conosco do que os que estão com eles.

3 And one said, Please go with your servants. And he said, I will go.

4 And he went with them; and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down timber.

5 And it came to pass, as one of them felled a beam, that the iron fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, my lord! for it was borrowed.

6 And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place, and he cut down a stick, and cast it in, and made the iron swim.

7 And he said, Lift it up. Then he reached out his hand and took it.

21 So Gehazi chased after Naaman; and when Naaman saw him running after him, he jumped down from the chariot to meet him and said to him, “Is all well?”

22 And he said, “All well; my master sent me, saying, ‘Behold, two young men of the sons of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”

23 And Naaman said, “Please take two talents.” So he urged him, and tied up two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing. and he put them on two of his servants, who carried him before him.

24 When he came to the top, he took them from their hands and put them in the house. Then he sent the men away, and they went.

25 Then he went in and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, “Where have you come from, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant has not gone anywhere.”

26 But he said to him, “Was not my heart with you when the man returned from his chariot to meet you? Was it time for you to take silver, and to take clothing, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and male and female servants?”

27 Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” So he went out from before him a leper as white as snow.

24 E, chegando ele à altura, tomou-os das suas mãos, e o depositou na casa: e despediu aqueles homens, e foram-se.

25 Então ele entrou, e pôs-se diante de seu senhor. E disse-lhe Eliseu: Donde vens, Geazi? E disse: Teu servo não foi nem a uma nem a outra parte.

1 Now Naaman, the captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man in the sight of his master, and highly respected, for the LORD had delivered him from the Syrians. And he was a mighty man of valor, but a leper.

2 And there came out bands from Syria and from the land of Israel, and they took captive a young girl, and she ministered to Naaman's wife.

3 And she said to her mistress, Would that my master were with the prophet that is in Samaria; he would recover him of his leprosy!

4 Then Naaman went in and told his master, saying, Thus and thus said the young girl who is of the land of Israel.

5 Then the king of Syria said, Go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. So he went and took ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of raiment.

6 And he took the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter comes to you, know that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may recover him of his leprosy.

7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man should send to me to recover a man of his leprosy? therefore, I pray you, mark, and see that he seeks an occasion against me.

8 And it came to pass, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of Elisha's house.

 10 Then Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you, and you will be clean.” 

11 But Naaman was very angry and went away, saying, “Behold, I thought to myself, ‘He will surely come out and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and heal the leper. 

12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?’ So he turned and went away in a rage. 

13 Then his servants came near and spoke to him, saying, “My father, if the prophet had told you something great, would you not have done it? How much more, when he said to you, ‘Wash and be clean.’ ” 

14 Then he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh returned like the flesh of a little boy, and he was clean. 

15 Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came and stood before him and said, "Behold, I have learned that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing from thy servant." 

16 But he said, "As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will not take it." And he urged him to take it, but he refused. 

17 And Naaman said, "Be it so; nevertheless, let thy servant be given a yoke of earth, for thy servant will no more offer burnt offering or sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD." 

18 In this matter may the Lord forgive your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I also have to bow down in the house of Rimmon; when I bow down in this way in the house of Rimmon, may the Lord forgive your servant in this matter.

19 And he said to him, "Go in peace." And he went a little way from him.

8 Sucedeu porém que, ouvindo Eliseu, homem de Deus, que o rei de Israel rasgara os seus vestidos, mandou dizer ao rei: Por que rasgaste os teus vestidos? Deixa-o vir a mim, e saberá que há profeta em Israel.

9 Veio pois Naamã com os seus cavalos, e com o seu carro, e parou à porta da casa de Eliseu.

10 Então Eliseu lhe mandou um mensageiro, dizendo: Vai, e lava-te sete vezes no Jordão, e a tua carne te tornará e ficarás purificado.

11 Porém Naamã muito se indignou, e se foi, dizendo: Eis que eu dizia comigo: Certamente ele sairá, por-se-à em pé, e invocará o nome do Senhor seu Deus, e passará a sua mão sobre o lugar, e restaurará o leproso.

12 Não são porventura Abana e Farpar, rios de Damasco, melhores do que todas as águas de Israel? Não me poderia eu lavar neles, e ficar purificado? E voltou-se, e se foi com indignação.

13 Então chegaram-se a ele os seus servos, e lhe falaram, e disseram: Meu pai, se o profeta te dissera alguma grande coisa, porventura não o farias? Quanto mais, dizendo-te ele: Lava-te, e ficarás purificado.

14 Então desceu, e mergulhou no Jordão sete vezes, conforme a palavra do homem de Deus: e a sua carne tornou, como a carne de um menino, e ficou purificado.

15 Então voltou ao homem de Deus, ele e toda a sua comitiva, e veio, e pôss-se diante dele, e disse: Eis que tenho conhecido que em toda a terra não há Deus senão em Israel: agora pois te peço que tomes uma benção do teu servo.

16 Porém ele disse: Vive o Senhor em cuja presença estou, que a não tomarei. E instou com ele para que tomasse, mas ele recusou.

17 E disse Naamã: Seja assim; contudo dê-se a este teu servo uma carga de terra de um jugo de mulas; porque nunca mais oferecerá este teu servo holocausto nem sacrifício a outros deuses, senão o Senhor.

18 Nisto perdoe o Senhor a teu servo: Quando meu senhor entra na casa de Rimom para ali adorar, e ele se encosta na minha mão, e eu também me tenha de encurvar na casa de Rimom; quando assim me encurvar na casa de Rimom, nisto perdoe o Senhor a teu servo.

19 E ele lhe disse: Vai em paz. E foi-se dele a uma pequena distância.

42 और एक मनुष्य बाल शालिसा से आया, और परमेश्वर के भक्त के पास पहिली उपज की रोटी, अर्यात्‌ जौ की बीस रोटियां, और भूसे में हरी हरी बालें ले आया, और कहा, लोगोंको दे, कि वे खाएं।

43 परन्तु उसके सेवक ने कहा, मैं इसे सौ पुरूषोंके साम्हने क्योंकर रखूं? और उस ने कहा, इसे लोगों को दे दो, कि वे खाएं; क्योंकि यहोवा यों कहता है, वह खाया जाएगा, और तृप्त हो जाएगा।

44 तब उस ने उसे उनके साम्हने रख दिया, और यहोवा के वचन के अनुसार उन्होंने खाया, और बचा भी रखा।
