Samuel 30 Siklag is plundered by the Amalekites

Samuel 30

Siklag is plundered by the Amalekites

So it came to pass, when David and his men came to Sheklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had come upon the south with a rush, and upon Shiklag, and had smitten Shiklag, and had set her on fire.

And they took captive the women that were in it, but they slew no one, neither small nor great; they just took them with them and went their way.

And David and his men came into the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire, and its wives, and its sons, and its daughters, were carried away captive.

Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice, and wept, until there was no more strength in them to weep.

Also the two wives of David were taken captive; Aquinoan, the Jezreelite, and Abigail, the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

And David was very distressed, because the people spoke of stoning him, because the spirit of all the people was in bitterness, every one because of his sons and his daughters: yet David exerted himself in the Lord his God.
