Samuel 30 David establishes the law of division of the prey

Samuel 30

David establishes the law of division of the prey

Then all the wicked, and the sons of Belial, among the men that went with David, answered, and said, Since they have not gone with us, we will not give them of the spoil which we have delivered; but let each one take his wife and children, and go.

But David said, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, whereby the LORD hath given us, which hath guarded us, and hath given the troops against us into our hands.

And who in such would listen to you? for what is the part of those who went down to battle, so shall be the part of those who are left with the baggage; they will also dish out.

Which was so from that day forward, because he made it a statute and a right in Israel to this day.

And when David came to Siklag, he sent of the spoil to the elders of Judah, his friends, saying, Behold a blessing for you from the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;

To Bethel, and to Ramoth in the south, and to Jater,

And to Aroer, and to Sifmoth, and to Estemoa,

And to Racals, and to those who were in the Jerameeeelite cities, and in the cities of the Kenites.

And to those of Hormah, and to those of Korahan, and to those of Assault.

And to those of Hebron, and to all the places where David walked, he and his men.
