Samuel 18 The song of women unworthy of Saul

Samuel 18

The song of women unworthy of Saul

And the women tingled, answered one another, and said, Saul smote his thousands, but David his ten thousands.

Then Saul was very angry, and that word seemed bad to him, and he said, Ten thousands gave to David, and to me only thousands: indeed, what does he lack, if not just the kingdom?

And from that day on, Saul had David in suspicion.

And it came to pass the other day that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and prophesied in the middle of the house: and David touched the harp with his hand, as from day to day: Saul, however, had a spear in his hand .

And Saul threw the spear, saying, I will drive David into the wall. But David dodged him twice.

And Saul feared David, because the Lord was with him and had departed from Saul.

So Saul turned him away from him and made him chief of a thousand: and he went out and came in before the people.

And David conducted himself prudently in all his ways, and the Lord was with him.

And when Saul saw that he was being so prudent, he was afraid of him.

But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.
