अमस्याह ने एदोमियों को हराया

1 जब अमस्याह राज्य करने लगा तब वह पच्चीस वर्ष का या, और उनतीस वर्ष तक यरूशलेम में राज्य करता रहा; और यह उसकी माता यरूशलेम की योआदान का नाम था।

2 और उस ने वही किया जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में ठीक है, परन्तु सच्चे मन से नहीं।

3 और ऐसा हुआ, कि जब उसका राज्य दृढ़ हो गया, तब उस ने अपने उन कर्मचारियोंको घात किया, जिन्होंने उसके पिता राजा को घायल किया या;

4 परन्तु उस ने अपके लड़केबालोंको घात न किया, पर जैसा यहोवा ने मूसा की व्यवस्था की पुस्तक में लिखा है, वैसा ही किया, कि पुत्र के कारण पिता न मरें, और न पिता के कारण पुत्र मरें; परन्तु हर एक अपने पाप के कारण मरेगा।

5 और अमस्याह ने यहूदा को इकट्ठा किया, और सारे यहूदा और बिन्यामीन में उनके पितरोंके घरानोंके अनुसार हजार-हजार और सैकड़ों-सैकड़ों पुरूषोंके अनुसार उनको नियुक्त किया; और उस ने बीस वर्ष वा उससे अधिक अवस्था वालों को गिन लिया, और उन में से तीन लाख चुने हुए पुरूष निकले जो सेना में भर्ती होते थे, और भाला और ढाल लिये हुए थे।

6 और उस ने एक सौ किक्कार चान्दी के बदले इस्राएल में से एक लाख शूरवीरोंको ले लिया।

7 परन्तु परमेश्वर का एक जन उसके पास आकर कहने लगा, हे राजा, इस्राएल की सेना को अपने साय न जाने दे; क्योंकि यहोवा इस्राएल के संग नहीं, वरन एप्रैम के वंश के भी संग नहीं है।

8 परन्तु यदि तू जाए, तो ऐसा ही कर, कि युद्ध के लिथे यत्न कर; परमेश्वर तुझे शत्रु के साम्हने गिरा देगा; क्योंकि परमेश्वर में हमें सहारा देने और गिराने की शक्ति है।

9 और अमस्याह ने परमेश्वर के भक्त से कहा, जो सौ किक्कार चान्दी मैं ने इस्राएलियोंको दी है, उसका क्या किया जाएगा? और परमेश्वर के जन ने कहा, यहोवा को तुझे इस से भी अधिक देना है।

Amaziah Defeats the Edomites

1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Joadan of Jerusalem.

2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not with a whole heart.

3 So it came to pass, when the kingdom was established for him, that he slew his servants who had struck down the king his father.

4 Yet he did not slay his sons, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the Lord commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, neither shall children be put to death for their fathers; but each man shall die for his own sin."

5 Then Amaziah gathered Judah together and appointed them by their fathers' houses, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, throughout Judah and Benjamin. and he numbered them, from twenty years old and upward, and found of them three hundred thousand chosen men, who went out to the army, bearing spear and shield. 

6 He also hired one hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver. 

7 But a man of God came to him, saying, O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel, that is, with the children of Ephraim. 

8 But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle: God will cause you to fall before the enemy; for there is power in God to help and to cast down. 

9 Then Amaziah said to the man of God, What then shall be done with the hundred talents of silver which I have given to the armies of Israel? And the man of God said, The LORD can give you more than that. 

10 Then Amaziah separated the armies that had come to him from Ephraim, that they might go to their place; Therefore his anger was kindled against Judah, and they returned to their place in great anger.

11 So Amaziah took courage, and led his people out, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote ten thousand of the children of Seir.

12 And the children of Judah captured ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock; and they threw them down from the top of the rock, and they all dashed to pieces.

13 But the men of the army whom Amaziah had sent away, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Bethhoron, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.

5 E Amazias ajuntou a Judá e os pôs segundo as casas dos pais, por chefes de milhares, e por chefes de centenas, por todo Judá e Benjamim; e os numerou, de vinte anos e daí para cima, e achou deles trezentos mil escolhidos que saíam ao exército, e levavam lança e escudo.

6 Também de Israel tomou a soldo cem mil varões valentes, por cem talentos de prata.

7 Porém um homem de Deus veio a ele, dizendo: Ó rei, não deixes ir contigo o exército de Israel; porque o Senhor não é com Israel, a saber, com os filhos de Efraim.

8 Se porém fores, faze-o, esforça-te para a peleja: Deus te fará cair diante do inimigo; porque força há em Deus para ajudar e para fazer cair.

9 E disse Amazias ao homem de Deus: Que se fará pois dos cem talentos de prata que dei às tropas de Israel? E disse o homem de Deus: Mais tem o Senhor que te dar do que isso.

10 Então separou Amazias as tropas que lhe tinham vindo de Efraim, para que se fossem ao seu lugar; pelo que se acendeu a sua ira contra Judá, e voltaram para o seu lugar em ardor de ira.

11 Esforçou-se pois Amazias, e conduziu o seu povo, e foi-se ao Vale do Sal; e feriu dos filhos de Seir dez mil.

12 Também os filhos de Judá prenderam vivos dez mil, e os trouxeram ao cume da rocha; e do mais alto da rocha os lançaram abaixo, e todos arrebentaram.

13 Porém os homens das tropas, que Amazias despedira, para que não fossem com ele à peleja, deram sobre as cidades de Judá, desde Samaria, até Betorom, e feriram deles três mil, e saquearam grande despojo.

27 और उसकी सन्तान का, और उस पर जो पद सौंपा गया था उसकी बड़ाई, और परमेश्वर के भवन की स्थापना के विषय में, देखो, यह सब राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में लिखा है। और उसका पुत्र अमस्याह उसके स्यान पर राज्य करने लगा।

23 And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the army of Syria came up against him, and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people; and they sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.

24 For although the army of the Syrians came with a small number of men, yet the Lord delivered into their hands an army of a great multitude, because they had forsaken the Lord, the God of their fathers. So they executed judgments upon Joash.

25 And when they departed from him (for they left him in great sickness), his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they slew him in his bed, and he died. And they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings. 

26 Now these were the ones who conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Josabad the son of Shimreth the Moabitess.

27 And as for his sons, and the greatness of the office that was given to him, and the building of the house of God, behold, they are written in the history of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his place.

23 E sucedeu, no decurso de um ano, que o exército da Síria subiu contra ele, e vieram a Judá e a Jerusalém, e destruíram dentre o povo a todos os príncipes do povo; e todo o seu despojo enviaram ao rei de Damasco.

24 Porque, ainda que o exército dos siros viera com poucos homens, contudo o Senhor deu na sua mão um exército de grande multidão, porquanto deixaram ao Senhor, Deus de seus pais. Assim executaram os juízos contra Joás.

25 E, retirando-se dele (porque em grandes enfermidades o deixaram) seus servos conspiraram contra ele por causa do sangue do filho do sacerdote Joiada, e mataram na sua cama, e morreu: e o sepultaram na cidade de Davi, porém não o sepultaram nos sepulcros dos reis.

26 Estes pois foram os que conspiraram contra ele: Zabade, filho de Simeate, a amonita, e Josabade, filho de Sinrete, a moabita.

27 E, quanto a seus filhos, e à grandeza do cargo que se lhe impôs, e ao estabelecimento da casa de Deus, eis que está escrito na história do livro dos reis. E Amazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

18 और वे यहोवा के भवन से चले गए; वे अपने पुरखाओं के परमेश्वर थे, और उन्होंने जंगल की मूरतोंऔर मूरतोंकी उपासना की; तब इस अपराध के कारण यहूदा और यरूशलेम पर बड़ा क्रोध भड़का।

The Idolatry of Joash

17 But after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and bowed down before the king; and the king listened to them.

18 And they forsook the house of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherah poles and the idols: and great wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of this iniquity.

19 But he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the Lord, and they testified against them, but they would not listen.

20 And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood over the people, and said to them, Thus says God: Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord? Therefore you shall not prosper; because you have forsaken the Lord, he will also forsake you.

21 And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones, at the king's command, in the court of the house of the Lord.

22 So King Joash did not remember the kindness his father Jehoiada had done to him, but killed his son, and as he died he said, "The Lord will see and require it."

19 Porém enviou profetas entre eles, para os fazer tornar ao Senhor, os quais protestaram contra eles, mas eles não deram ouvidos.

20 E o Espírito de Deus revestiu a Zacarias, filho do sacerdote Joiada, o qual se pôs em pé acima do povo, e lhes disse: Assim diz Deus: Por que transgredis os mandamentos do Senhor? Portanto não prosperareis; porque deixastes ao Senhor, também ele vos deixará.

21 E eles conspiraram contra ele, e o apedrejaram com pedras, por mandado do rei, no pátio da casa do Senhor.

22 Assim o rei Joás não se lembrou da beneficência que seu pai Joiada lhe fizera, porém, matou-lhe o filho, o qual morrendo, disse: O Senhor o verá, e o requererá.

1 जब योआश राज्य करने लगा तब वह सात वर्ष का या, और यरूशलेम में चालीस वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा; और यह उसकी माता सीबिया अर्थात बेर्शेबा का नाम था।

2 और यहोयादा याजक के जीवन भर योआश ने वही किया जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में ठीक था।

3 और यहोयादा ने दो स्त्रियां ब्याह लीं; और उससे बेटे और बेटियाँ उत्पन्न हुईं।

4 और इसके बाद ऐसा हुआ कि योआश के मन में यहोवा के भवन को नया बनाने की इच्छा उत्पन्न हुई।

5 तब उस ने याजकोंऔर लेवियोंको इकट्ठा करके उन से कहा, यहूदा के नगरोंमें जाकर सारे इस्राएल से प्रति वर्ष अपने परमेश्वर के भवन की मरम्मत के लिथे रूपया इकट्ठा किया करो; और तुम इस काम में जल्दी करो। परन्तु लेवियों ने जल्दबाजी न की।

6 और राजा ने प्रधान यहोयादा को बुलाकर उस से कहा, तू ने लेवियोंमें यह क्यों न पूछा, कि वे यहूदा और यरूशलेम से यहोवा के दास मूसा और इस्राएल की मण्डली की भेंट को साक्षीपत्र के तम्बू में ले आएं?

7 इसलिये कि अतल्याह दुष्ट थी, उसके पुत्रोंने परमेश्वर का भवन नाश किया, और यहोवा के भवन की सब पवित्र वस्तुएं भी उन्होंने बाल देवताओं के लिये उपयोग कीं।

8 और राजा ने आज्ञा दी, और उन्होंने एक सन्दूक बनाकर बाहर यहोवा के भवन के द्वार पर खड़ा किया।

9 और यहूदा और यरूशलेम में यह प्रचार किया गया, कि जो भेंट यहोवा के दास मूसा ने जंगल में इस्राएल को दी थी, उसे वे यहोवा के पास ले आएं।

10 तब सब हाकिम और सब प्रजा के लोग आनन्दित हुए, और भेंट ले आकर सन्दूक में तब तक डालते रहे, जब तक काम पूरा न हो गया।

11 और ऐसा हुआ कि जिस समय वे राजा की आज्ञा के अनुसार सन्दूक को लेवियोंके हाथ से ले आए, और यह देखकर कि उस में बहुत धन हो गया या, तब राजा के मुंशी और महायाजक के हाकिम ने आकर सन्दूक को खाली किया, और उसको लेकर उसके स्यान पर रख दिया; वे प्रति दिन ऐसा ही करते रहे, और बहुत सा धन इकट्ठा करते रहे।

12 जिसे राजा और यहोयादा ने यहोवा के भवन के काम करनेवालोंको दे दिया, और यहोवा के भवन की मरम्मत के लिथे राजमिस्त्रियोंऔर बढ़ईयोंको, और यहोवा के भवन की मरम्मत के लिथे लोहारोंऔर तालेवालोंको काम पर लगाया।

13 और जो काम के अधिकारी थे, उन्होंने अपने हाथ से काम की मरम्मत का काम बढ़ाया; और उन्होंने परमेश्वर के भवन को उसके मूल स्वरूप में लौटा दिया, और उसे दृढ़ किया।

Joash Gives Orders to Repair the Temple

1 Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 And Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

3 And Jehoiada took him two wives, and he begat sons and daughters.

4 And it came to pass after this, that it came into the heart of Joash to renovate the house of the Lord.

5 Then he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out into the cities of Judah, and gather money from all Israel, to repair the house of your God year by year; and ye shall hasten the matter. But the Levites did not hasten.

6 Then the king summoned Jehoiada the chief and said to him, “Why didn’t you inquire among the Levites to bring the offering of Moses the servant of the Lord and the congregation of Israel from Judah and Jerusalem to the tent of meeting?

7 Because Athaliah was wicked, her sons destroyed the house of God and even all the holy things in the house of the Lord they used for Baalim.”

8 Then the king gave orders, and they made an ark and set it outside at the door of the house of the Lord.

9 And it was announced throughout Judah and Jerusalem that they should bring to the Lord the offering that Moses the servant of the Lord had imposed on Israel in the wilderness.

10 Then all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and they brought the offering and threw it into the ark until the work was finished. 

11 And it came to pass, when they brought in the ark by the hand of the Levites, according to the king's commandment, and saw that there was much money, that the king's scribe and the deputy of the high priest came and emptied the ark, and took it up, and returned it to its place. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance. 

12 And the king and Jehoiada gave it to those who had charge of the work of the service of the house of the LORD; and they hired masons and carpenters to renew the house of the LORD, and also smiths and metalworkers to repair the house of the LORD. 

13 And those who had charge of the work increased the repair of the work by their hands, and they restored the house of God to its former state, and strengthened it. 

14 And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, and made with it vessels for the house of the LORD, vessels for ministering and for offerings, and perfumers, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings continually in the house of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada.

15 And Jehoiada grew old, and died full of days; he was one hundred and thirty years old when he died.

16 And they buried him in the City of David with the kings, because he had done well in Israel, and toward God and his house.

5 Ajuntou pois os sacerdotes e os levitas, e disse-lhes: Saí pelas cidades de Judá, e ajuntai dinheiro de todo o Israel para reparar a casa do vosso Deus de ano em ano; e vós apressai este negócio. Porém os levitas não se apressaram.

6 E o rei chamou a Joiada, o chefe, e disse-lhe: Por que não fizeste inquirição entre os levitas, para que trouxessem de Judá e de Jerusalém a oferta de Moisés, servo do Senhor, e da congregação de Israel, à tenda do testemunho?

7 Porque, sendo Atália ímpia, seus filhos arruinaram a casa de Deus, e até todas as coisas sagradas da casa do Senhor empregaram em Baalim.

8 E deu o rei ordem e fizeram uma arca, e a puseram fora, à porta da casa do Senhor.

11 E sucedeu que, ao tempo que traziam a arca pelas mãos dos levitas, segundo o mandado do rei, e vendo que já havia muito dinheiro, vinha o escrivão do rei, e o deputado do sumo sacerdote, e esvaziavam a arca, e a tomavam, e a tornavam ao seu lugar: assim faziam de dia em dia, e ajuntaram dinheiro em abundância.

12 O qual o rei e Joiada davam aos que tinham cargo da obra do serviço da casa do Senhor, e alugaram pedreiros e carpinteiros, para renovarem a casa do Senhor, como também ferreiros e serralheiros, para repararem a casa do Senhor.

13 E os que tinham cargo da obra faziam que a reparação da obra fosse crescendo pela sua mão: e restauraram a casa de Deus no seu estado, e a fortaleceram.

14 E, depois de acabarem, trouxeram o resto do dinheiro para diante do rei e de Joiada, e dele fizeram vasos para a casa do Senhor, vasos para ministrar, e oferecer, e perfumadores e vasos de ouro e de prata. E continuamente sacrificaram holocaustos na casa do Senhor todos os dias de Joiada.

15 E envelheceu Joiada, e morreu farto de dias: era da idade de cento e trinta anos quando morreu.

16 E o sepultaram na cidade de Davi com os reis; porque tinha feito bem em Israel. E para com Deus e a sua casa.

The Covenant that Jehoiada Made

16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and the people, and the king, that they should be the people of the Lord.

17 Then all the people went into the house of Baal, and they tore it down, and broke down its altars, and its images; and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

18 And Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord under the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had appointed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with joy and with singing, according to the ordinance of David.

19 And he placed doorkeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord, that no one unclean in any way might enter it.

20 Then he took the centurions, the mighty men, and those who held authority among the people, and all the people of the land, and brought the king out of the house of the Lord; and they entered the king's house by the greater gate, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

21 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was at peace, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.

16 E Joiada fez aliança entre si, e o povo, e o rei, que seriam o povo do Senhor.

17 Depois todo o povo entrou na casa de Baal, e a derrubaram, e quebraram os seus altares, e as suas imagens, e a Matã, sacerdote de Baal, mataram diante dos altares.

18 E Joiada ordenou os ofícios na casa do Senhor, debaixo da mão dos sacerdotes, os levitas a quem Davi designara na casa do Senhor para oferecerem os holocaustos do Senhor, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, com alegria e com canto, conforme a instituição de Davi.

19 E pôs porteiros às portas da casa do Senhor, para que não entrasse nela ninguém imundo em coisa alguma.

20 E tomou os centuriões, e os poderosos, e os que tinham domínio entre o povo e todo o povo da terra e  conduziu o rei da casa do Senhor e entraram na casa do rei pela porta maior, e assentaram o rei no trono do reino.

21 E todo o povo da terra se alegrou, e a cidade ficou em paz, depois que mataram a Atália à espada.

7 और लेवीय अपके अपके हाथ में हथियार लिये हुए राजा को चारों ओर से घेर लेंगे; और जो कोई घर में प्रवेश करेगा वह मर जाएगा; परन्तु जब राजा आए, और बाहर जाए, तब तू उसके संग रहेगा।

8 और लेवियोंऔर सब यहूदियोंने यहोयादा याजक की आज्ञा के अनुसार किया; और हर एक पुरूष ने अपने अपने पुरूष ले लिये, अर्यात्‌ जो विश्रामदिन को भीतर जाते थे, और जो विश्रामदिन को बाहर जाते थे; क्योंकि याजक यहोयादा ने वर्गों को ख़ारिज नहीं किया था।

9 और यहोयादा याजक ने शतप्रधानोंको वे भाले, ढालें, और अंगूठियां जो राजा दाऊद के थे, जो परमेश्वर के भवन में थीं दे दीं।

10 और उस ने सब लोगोंको अपके अपके हाथ में हथियार लिये हुए, भवन की दाहिनी ओर से बाईं ओर, वेदी और भवन की अलंग से लेकर राजा के चारों ओर खड़ा किया।

Jehoiada the Priest Anoints Joash King of Judah

1 But in the seventh year Jehoiada took courage, and took with him into a covenant the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Joram, and Ishmael the son of Johanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adalah, and Elishaphat the son of Shikri.

2 They went around Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah and the heads of the fathers' houses of Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

3 And the whole assembly made a covenant with the king of the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the Lord said concerning the sons of David.

4 This is the thing that ye shall do: A third part of you, the priests and the Levites, who come in on the sabbath, shall be doorkeepers at the gates;

 5 And a third part shall be in the king's house, and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD. 

6 But no man shall enter into the house of the LORD, save the priests and the Levites that minister; they shall enter, because they are holy: but the people shall keep the charge of the LORD. 

7 And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever entereth into the house shall die: but ye shall be with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out. 

8 And the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest had commanded: and they took every man his men, both those that came in on the sabbath, and those that went out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed the divisions. 

9 And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears, and the shields, and the shields that had been King David's, which were in the house of God. 

10 Then he arranged all the people, each with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, from the altar and the house, around the king.

11 Then they brought out the king's son and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. Then Jehoiada and his sons anointed him king. Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, "Long live the king!"

12 When Athaliah heard the voice of the people running to praise the king, she came to the people to the house of the Lord.

13 And she looked, and behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced and blew the trumpets, and the singers also played musical instruments, and gave the signal to sing praises. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried out, "Treason, treason!" 

14 But Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were in charge of the army and said to them, “Take her out of the ranks, and whoever follows her shall die by the sword, for the priest had said, ‘You shall not kill her in the house of the Lord.’ ” 

15 So they seized her, and she went to the entrance of the horse gate of the king’s palace, and they killed her there.

1 Porém no sétimo ano Joiada se esforçou, e tomou consigo em aliança os chefes das centenas, a Azarias, filho de Jorão, e a Ismael, filho de Joanã, e a Azarias filho de Obede, e a Maaséias, filho de Adalas, e a Elisafate, filho de Sicri.

2 Estes rodearam a Judá e ajuntaram os levitas de todas as cidades de Judá e os cabeças dos pais de Israel, e vieram para Jerusalém.

3 E toda aquela congregação fez aliança com o rei da casa de Deus: e Joiada lhes disse: Eis que o filho do rei reinará, como o Senhor falou a respeito dos filhos de Davi.

4 Esta é a coisa que haveis de fazer: uma terça parte de vós, os sacerdotes e os levitas que entram de sábado, serão porteiros das portas;

5 E uma terça parte estará na casa do rei; e a outra parte à porta do fundamento; e todo o povo estará nos pátios da casa do Senhor.

6 Porém ninguém entre na casa do Senhor, senão os sacerdotes e os levitas que ministram; estes entrarão porque santos são; mas o povo vigiará a guarda do Senhor.

7 E os levitas rodearão ao rei em volta, cada um com as suas armas na mão; e qualquer que entrar na casa morrerá; porém vós estareis com o rei, quando entrar e quando sair.

8 E fizeram os levitas e todo o Judá conforme a tudo o que ordenara o sacerdote Joiada; e tomou cada um os seus homens, os que entravam no sábado com os que saíam no sábado; porque o sacerdote Joiada não tinha despedido as turmas.

9 Também o sacerdote Joiada deu aos chefes de centenas as lanças, e os escudos, e as rodelas que foram do rei Davi, os quais estavam na casa de Deus.

10 E dispôs todo o povo, e a cada um com as suas armas na mão, desde a banda direita da casa até à banda esquerda da casa, da banda do altar e da casa, à roda do rei.

11 Então tiraram para fora ao filho do rei, e lhe puseram a coroa; deram-lhe o testemunho, e o fizeram rei: e Joiada e seus filhos o ungiram rei: e Joiada e seus filhos o ungiram, e disseram: Viva o rei!

12 Ouvindo pois Atália a voz do povo que corria para louvar o rei, veio ao povo à casa do Senhor;

13 E olhou, e eis que o rei estava perto da sua coluna, à entrada, e os chefes e as trombetas junto ao rei; e todo o povo da terra estava alegre, e tocava as trombetas, e também os cantores tocavam instrumentos músicos, e davam a entender que se deviam cantar louvores: então Atália rasgou os seus vestidos, e clamou: Traição, traição!

14 Porém o sacerdote Joiada tirou para fora os centuriões que estavam postos sobre o exército e disse-lhes: Tirai-a para fora das fileiras, e o que seguir, morrerá à espada; porque dissera o sacerdote: Não a matareis na casa do Senhor.

15 E eles lhe lançaram as mãos, e ela foi à entrada da porta dos cavalos, da casa do rei; e ali a mataram.

10 When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family of the house of Judah.

11 But Jehoshaphat, the king's daughter, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and brought him out from among the king's sons who were being killed, and put him and his nurse in the bedchamber. So Jehoshaphat, the daughter of King Joram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was Ahaziah's sister), hid him from Athaliah's sight, so that she did not kill him.

12 And she was hidden with them in the house of God six years, and Athaliah reigned over the land.
