1 और यहूदा का राजा यहोशापात कुशल क्षेम से अपने घर यरूशलेम को लौट गया।

5 और उस ने देश के सब दृढ़ नगरोंमें, नगर नगर में न्यायी ठहराए।

6 और उस ने न्यायियोंसे कहा, देखो तुम क्या करते हो; क्योंकि तुम मनुष्य से नहीं, परन्तु यहोवा से न्याय करते हो, और न्याय के विषय में वह तुम्हारे संग है।

The Prophet Jehu Rebukes Jehoshaphat

1 Now Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned home to Jerusalem in peace.

2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore great wrath will come upon you from the Lord.”

3 But good things have been found in you, because you have removed the groves from the land and prepared your heart to seek God.

4 So Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem and went through the people again from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and he turned them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

5 And he appointed judges in the land in every fortified city, city by city.

6 And he said to the judges, “Take heed what you do; For you do not judge for man, but for the Lord, and He is with you in the matter of judgment.

7 Now therefore let the fear of the Lord be with you: keep it, and do it; for there is no iniquity with the Lord God, nor is there any partiality, nor taking of gifts.

8 And Jehoshaphat also appointed some of the Levites and of the priests and of the heads of the fathers' houses of Israel over the judgment of the Lord, and over legal cases: and they returned to Jerusalem.

9 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall you walk in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a whole heart.

10 And in every difference that shall come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, between statutes and ordinances, warn them, that they may not incur guilt before the Lord, and that wrath may come upon you and your brethren: do so, and you shall not incur guilt.

11 And behold, Amariah the high priest shall be over you in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, prince of the house of Judah, in all matters of the king; and the officers, the Levites, are before you: be strong therefore, and do it; and the Lord will be with the good.

O profeta Jeú repreende a Josafá

1 E Josafá, rei de Judá voltou à sua casa em paz, a Jerusalém.

2 E Jeú, filho de Hanani, o vidente, lhe saiu ao encontro, e disse ao rei Josafá: Devias tu ajudar o ímpio, e amar aqueles que ao Senhor aborrecem? Por isso virá sobre ti grande ira de diante do Senhor.

3 Boas coisas contudo se acharam em ti; porque tiraste os bosques da terra, e preparaste o teu coração, para buscar a Deus.

4 Habitou pois Josafá em Jerusalém: e tornou a passar pelo povo desde Berseba até as montanhas de Efraim, e fez com que tornassem ao Senhor Deus de seus pais.

5 E estabeleceu juízes na terra, em todas as cidades fortes, de cidade em cidade.

6 E disse aos juízes: Vede o que fazeis; porque não julgais da parte do homem, senão da parte do Senhor, e ele está convosco no negócio do juízo.

7 Agora pois, seja o temor do Senhor convosco: guardai-o, e fazei-o; porque não há no Senhor Deus iniqüidade nem aceitação de pessoas, nem aceitação de presentes.

8 E também estabeleceu Josafá a alguns dos levitas e dos sacerdotes e dos chefes dos pais de Israel sobre o juízo do Senhor, e sobre as causas judiciais: e tornaram a Jerusalém.

9 E deu-lhes ordem, dizendo: Assim andai no temor do Senhor com fidelidade, e com coração inteiro.

10 E em toda a diferença que vier a vós de vossos irmãos, que habitam nas suas cidades, entre sangue e sangue, entre lei e mandamento, entre estatutos e juízos, admoestai-os, que se não façam culpados para com o Senhor, e não venha grande ira sobre vós, e sobre vossos irmãos: fazei assim, e não vos fareis culpados.

11 E eis que Amarias, o sumo sacerdote, presidirá sobre vós em todo o negócio do Senhor; e Zebadias, filho de Ismael, príncipe da casa de Judá, em todo o negócio do rei; também os oficiais, os levitas, estão perante vós: esforçai-vos, pois, e fazei-o; e o Senhor será com os bons.

The War Against Ramoth Gilead and the Death of Ahab

28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

29 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go to battle; but you put on your own clothes." So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went to battle.

30 But the king of Syria commanded the captains of his chariots, "Fight neither with small nor great, but only with the king of Israel."

31 And it came to pass, when the captains of Jehoshaphat's chariots saw them, that they said, "This is the king of Israel," and they surrounded him to fight. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him. And God turned them away from him.

 32 When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from following him. 

33 Then a man bent his bow in his simplicity and struck the king of Israel between the joints and the armor. Then he said to the charioteer, "Let your hand live, and take me out of the army, for I am badly wounded."

 34 And the battle raged there, but the king of Israel remained standing in the chariot facing the Syrians until evening, and he died at the time of sunset.

28 Subiram pois o rei de Israel e Josafá rei de Judá, a Ramote-Gileade.

29 E disse o rei de Israel a Josafá: Disfarçando-me eu, então entrarei na peleja; tu porém veste as tuas vestiduras. Disfarçou-se pois o rei de Israel, e entraram na peleja.

30 Deu ordem porém o rei da Síria aos capitães dos carros que tinha, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno, nem contra grande, senão só contra o rei de Israel.

31 Sucedeu pois que, vendo os capitães dos carros de Josafá, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel, e o cercaram para pelejarem; porém Josafá clamou, e o Senhor o ajudou. E Deus os desviou dele.

32 Porque sucedeu que, vendo os capitães dos carros, que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de segui-lo.

33 Então um homem armou o arco na sua simplicidade, e feriu o rei de Israel entre as junturas e a couraça. Então disse ao carreteiro: Viva a tua mão, e tira-me do exército, porque estou mui ferido.

34 E naquele cresceu a peleja, mas o rei de Israel susteve-se em pé no carro defronte dos siros até à tarde, e morreu ao tempo do pôr-do-sol.

17 तब इस्राएल के राजा ने यहोशापात से कहा, क्या मैं ने तुम से न कहा या, कि यह मनुष्य मेरे विषय में भलाई की नहीं, परन्तु बुरी की भविष्यद्वाणी करता है?

18 और उस ने कहा, मैं ने यहोवा का वचन सुना है। मैं ने प्रभु को अपने सिंहासन पर बैठे हुए देखा, और सारी स्वर्गीय सेना उसके दाहिने और बायीं ओर खड़ी थी।

24 मीका ने कहा, सुन, जिस दिन तू छिपने को एक कोठरी से दूसरी कोठरी में फिरेगा, तब तू इसे देखेगा।

Alliance between Jehoshaphat and Ahab

1 Now Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honor, and he became related to Ahab.

2 And after some years he went to Samaria to Ahab; and Ahab killed sheep and oxen in abundance for himself and for the people who were with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.

3 For Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he said to him, As you are, so will I be; and my people as your people; we will be with you in this battle.

4 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD this day.

5 Then the king of Israel gathered together the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I forsake it?" They said, "Go up, for God will deliver it into the king's hand."

 6 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there still no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of him?"

 7 Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he never prophesies good of me, but always evil; he is Micah the son of Imlah." And Jehoshaphat said, "Let the king not speak so."

 8 Then the king of Israel called an eunuch and said, "Bring Micah the son of Imlah here quickly."

 9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in the square at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them.

10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said, Thus says the Lord: With these you shall smite the Syrians until you have consumed them all.

11 And all the prophets prophesied the same thing, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

12 And the messenger who went to call Micah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets are good to the king in one mouth; let your word also be as one of them, and speak what is good.

13 But Micah said, As the Lord lives, I will speak what my God says to me.

14 So he came to the king, and the king said to him, “Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forsake it?” And he said, “Go up, and you will prosper; and it will be given into your hands.”

15 And the king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you, that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

16 Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘They have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.’”

17 Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that this man would not prophesy good of me, but evil?”

18 And he said, “I have heard the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.”

19 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And he said, One saith this way, and another saith that.

 20 Then a spirit came forth, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. And the LORD said unto him, By what? 

21 And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt persuade him, and also prevail: go forth, and do so. 

22 And now, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets: and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. 

23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

 24 And Micah said, Behold, thou shalt see him in that day, when thou shalt go from chamber to chamber to hide. 

25 And the king of Israel said, Take Micah, and bring him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son. 

26 And ye shall say, Thus saith the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, until I come in peace. 

27 And Micah said, If thou return in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, all you peoples!

1 Tinha pois Josafá riquezas e glória em abundância: e aparentou-se com Acabe.

2 E ao cabo de alguns anos foi ter com Acabe a Samaria: e Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que vinha com ele: e o persuadiu a subir com ele a Ramote-Gileade.

3 Porque Acabe, rei de Israel, disse a Josafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu comigo a Ramote-Gileade? E ele lhe disse: Como tu és, serei eu; e o meu povo, como o teu povo; seremos contigo nesta guerra.

4 Disse mais Josafá ao rei de Israel: Consulta hoje, peço-te, a palavra do Senhor.

5 Então o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e disse-lhes: Iremos à guerra contra Ramote-Gileade, ou deixá-lo-ei? E eles disseram: Sobe; porque Deus a dará na mão do rei.

6 Disse porém Josafá: Não há ainda aqui profeta algum do Senhor, para que o consultemos?

7 Então o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Ainda há um homem por quem podemos consultar ao Senhor; porém eu o aborreço, porque nunca profetiza de mim bem, senão sempre mal; este é Mica, filho de Inlá. E disse Josafá: Não fale o rei assim.

8 Então chamou o rei de Israel um eunuco: e disse: Traze aqui depressa a Mica, filho de Inlá.

9 E o rei de Israel, e Josafá, rei de Judá estavam assentados cada um no seu trono, vestidos com as suas vestiduras, e estavam assentados na praça, à entrada da porta de Samaria, e todos os profetas profetizavam na sua presença.

10 E Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, fez para si uns chifres de ferro, e disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Com estes feriras aos siros, até todo os consumires.

11 E todos os profetas profetizavam o mesmo dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade, e prosperarás; porque o Senhor a dará na mão do rei.

12 E o mensageiro, que foi chamar a Mica, lhe falou, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma boca, são boas para com o rei; seja pois também a tua palavra como a um de um deles, e fala o que é bom.

13 Porém Mica disse: Vive o Senhor, que o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.

22 Agora pois, eis que o Senhor pôs um espírito de mentira na boca destes teus profetas: E o Senhor falou o mal a teu respeito.

23 Então Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, se chegou, e feriu a Mica no queixo, e disse: Por que caminho passou de mim o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti?

24 Disse Mica: Eis que o verás naquele dia, quando andares de câmara em câmara, para esconderes.

1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 And he placed men of war in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of David his father, and sought not Baalim.

4 But sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5 And the Lord established the kingdom in his hand: and all Judah gave gifts to Jehoshaphat: and he had riches and honour in abundance.

6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord, and he took away also the high places and the groves of Judah. 

​​7 And in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, Bencail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

10 And the fear of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms of the earth that were round about Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat. 

11 And some of the Philistines brought gifts to Jehoshaphat with the tribute money; and the Arabians brought him small cattle, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.

12 And Jehoshaphat grew and became exceedingly great, and built forts and cities of store in Judah. ​​

13 And he did much work in the cities of Judah, and men of war, and mighty men of valor in Jerusalem.

6 E exaltou-se o seu coração nos caminhos do Senhor e ainda de mais tirou os altos e os bosques de Judá.

7 E no terceiro ano do seu reinado enviou ele os seus príncipes, a Bencail, e a Obadias, e a Zacarias, e a Natanael, e a Micaia, para ensinarem nas cidades de Judá.

2 Then Asa brought out the silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of God and the king's house, and sent Ben-hadad king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying,

11 Now the acts of Asa, first and last, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

 12 And Asa became sick in his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign. His illness was extremely severe, and yet in his illness he did not seek the Lord, but sought physicians. 

13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.

2 And he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will be forsaken you."

3 And Israel was many days without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

4 But when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found.

5 And in those days there was no peace for him who went out or for him who came in, but great disturbances for all the inhabitants of the land.

6 For nation was broken against nation, and city against city, for God had troubled them with all their distress. 

7 But be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work will be rewarded.

8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of the prophet the son of Obed, he took courage and removed the abominations from all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He also repaired the altar of the Lord that was before the porch of the Lord.

9 He gathered all Judah and Benjamin together, and with them the strangers from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for there were very many people coming to him from Israel, because they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

10 They assembled at Jerusalem in the third month, in the tenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 On that same day they offered a sacrifice to the Lord of the spoil that they had brought: six hundred oxen and six thousand sheep.

12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul; 

13 And that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, from the least to the greatest, from man to woman. 

14 And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice, with shouting, and with trumpets and cornets. 

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and with all their will they sought him, and they found him: and the Lord gave them rest round about. 

16 And he also deposed Maacah the mother of King Asa, so that she was no longer queen; because she had made an abominable idol for the Asherah; and Asa destroyed her abominable idol, and broke it in pieces, and burned it at the Kidron Valley. 

17 But the high places were not removed from Israel; yet Asa's heart was perfect all his days.

18 And he brought the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that he himself had dedicated to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.

Asa abole a idolatria e renova o pacto do Senhor

1 Então veio o Espírito de Deus sobre Azarias, filho de Obede.

2 E saiu ao encontro de Asa, e disse-lhe: Ouvi-me, Asa, e todo o Judá e Benjamim: O Senhor está convosco, enquanto vós estais com ele, e, se o buscardes, o achareis; porém, se o deixardes, vós deixará.

3 E Israel esteve por muitos dias sem o verdadeiro Deus, e sem sacerdote que o ensinasse, e sem lei.

4 Mas quando na sua angústia se convertiam ao Senhor, Deus de Israel, e o buscavam, o achavam.

5 E naqueles tempos não havia paz nem para o que saía, nem para o que entrava, mas muitas perturbações sobre todos os habitantes daquelas terras.

6 Porque gente contra gente, e cidade contra cidade se despedaçavam; porque Deus os conturbara com toda a angústia.

7 Mas esforçai-vos, e não desfaleçam as vossas mãos; porque a vossa obra tem uma recompensa.

8 Ouvindo pois Asa estas palavras, e a profecia do profeta, filho de Obede, esforçou-se, e tirou as abominações de toda a terra de Judá e de Benjamim, como também das cidades que tomara nas montanhas de Efraim: e renovou o altar do Senhor, que estava diante do pórtico do Senhor.

9 E ajuntou a todo Judá, e Benjamim, e com eles os estrangeiros de Efraim e Manassés, e de Simeão; porque de Israel vinham a ele mui grande número, vendo que o Senhor seu Deus era com ele.

10 E ajuntaram-se em Jerusalém no terceiro mês; no ano decimo do reinado de Asa.

11 E no mesmo dia ofereceram em sacrifício ao Senhor, do despojo que trouxeram, seiscentos bois e seis mil ovelhas.

12 E entraram no concerto de buscarem o Senhor, Deus de seus pais, com todo o seu coração, e com toda a sua alma;

13 E de que todo aquele que não buscasse ao Senhor, Deus de Israel, morresse, desde o menor até o maior, e desde homem até à mulher.

14 E juraram ao Senhor, em alta voz, com júbilo e com trombetas e buzinas.

15 E todo o Judá se alegrou deste juramento; porque com todo o seu coração juraram, e com toda a sua vontade o buscaram, e o acharam: e o Senhor lhes deu repouso em redor.

16 E também a Maaca, mãe do rei Asa, ele a depôs, para que não fosse mais rainha; porquanto fizera a Asera um horrível ídolo; e Asa destruiu o seu horrível ídolo, e o despedaçou, e o queimou junto ao ribeiro de Cedron.

17 Os altos porém não se tiraram de Israel; contudo o coração de Asa foi perfeito todos os seus dias.

18 E trouxe as coisas que tinha consagrado seu pai, e as coisas que ele mesmo tinha consagrado à casa de Deus: prata, e ouro, e vasos.

19 E não houve guerra até ao ano trigésimo quinto do reinado de Asa.

Asa Reigns and Defeats Zerah the Ethiopian

1 Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land had peace for ten years.

2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

3 He took away the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, broke down the sacred stones, and cut down the Asherah poles.

4 He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandment.

5 He also took away the high places and the images of the sun from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet before him.

6 He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest, and there was no war against him in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.

7 Then he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars, while the land is still before us, for we seek the LORD our God; we sought him, and he has given us rest all around." They built and prospered.

 8 Now Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah who carried shields and spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin who carried shields and drew bows; all these were valiant men. 

9 Then Zerah the Ethiopian went out against them with an army of a thousand thousand and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah. 

10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah, near Mareshah. 

11 Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God and said, "Lord, there is no help for you, whether the mighty or the weak; help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you, and in your name we come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let no man prevail against you.

12 And the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many of the Ethiopians fell that there was no strength left in them; for they were defeated before the Lord and before his army, and they took away from there very much spoil.

14 And they attacked all the cities around Gerar, for the terror of the Lord was upon them; and they plundered all the cities, because there was much spoil in them.

15 They also attacked the cattle pens, and took away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.
