 II Kings 24

Zedekiah Reigns, and He and His People Are Deported to Babylon

18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

19 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

20 For this happened because the Lord was angry with Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out of his sight. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

II Kings 24 The Beginning of the Captivity of Judah

 II Kings 24

The Beginning of the Captivity of Judah

8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

9 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father had done.

10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

11 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon also came against the city while his servants were besieging it.

12 Then Jehoiachin king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he and his mother, his servants, his princes, and his eunuchs; and the king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign.

13 And he took from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house, and he took them captive. and he broke in pieces all the vessels of gold that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had said.

14 And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the carpenters and smiths; none were left but the poor people of the land.

15 So Jehoiachin carried away to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his eunuchs, and the mighty men of the land, he carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon.

16 And all the mighty men of valor, even seven thousand, and carpenters and smiths, even a thousand, and all the men skilled in war, the king of Babylon carried away captive to Babylon.

17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his uncle king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

II Reis 24 O princípio do cativeiro de Judá

II Reis 24

II Kings 24

 II Kings 24

1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiachin was his servant three years; then he turned and rebelled against him.

2 And God sent against him the Chaldean bands, the Syrian bands, the Moabite bands, and the Ammonite bands; and he sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

3 And indeed, according to the word of the Lord, so it happened to Judah, that he removed it out of his sight, because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done.

4 And because of the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood; and therefore the Lord would not pardon.

5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiachin, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

6 And Jehoiachin slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

7 And the king of Egypt went no more out of his land: for the king of Babylon took all that belonged to the king of Egypt, from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates.

II Reis 24

II Reis 24

II Kings 23 Jehoahaz Reigns, and is Taken Captive to Egypt

 II Kings 23

Jehoahaz Reigns, and is Taken Captive to Egypt

31 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

32 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.

33 But Pharaoh Necho had him imprisoned at Riblah in the land of Hamath, so that he might not reign in Jerusalem. He imposed a fine of one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold on the land.

34 Pharaoh Necho also made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah, and changed his name to Jehoiachin. But he took Jehoahaz with him and came to Egypt and died there.

35 And Jehoiachin gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh, and he gave the gold to Pharaoh. but he taxed the land to give the money according to Pharaoh's command: from each man according to his valuation he exacted the silver and gold of the people of the land, to give it to Pharaoh Necho.

36 Jehoiachin was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

37 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.

II Reis 23 Joacaz reina, e é levado cativo para o Egito

II Reis 23

27 और यहोवा ने कहा, जैसा मैं ने इस्राएल को अपने साम्हने से दूर किया है, वैसे ही मैं यहूदा को भी दूर करूंगा, और इस नगर यरूशलेम को जिसे मैं ने चुन लिया है, और जिस भवन के विषय में मैं ने कहा है, कि वहां मेरा नाम बना रहेगा, उसको भी त्याग दूंगा;

II Kings 23 The Celebration of the Passover

 II Kings 23

The Celebration of the Passover

21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the Passover to the Lord your God, as it is written in the Book of the Covenant.

22 For there had not been such a Passover as this since the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah.

23 But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah this Passover was kept to the Lord in Jerusalem.

24 And the mediums, and the sorcerers, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, Josiah did away with, that he might perform the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the Lord.

25 And before him there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; and after him there arose none like him.

26 Yet the Lord did not turn away from the fierceness of his great anger, which burned against Judah because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him.

27 And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I removed Israel; and I will cast off this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

29 In his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the Euphrates River. King Josiah went to meet him, and when he saw him, he killed him at Megiddo.

30 His servants carried him dead from Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and anointed him and made him king in his father's place.

II Reis 23 A celebração da páscoa

II Reis 23

II Kings 23 The Altar at Bethel Desecrated and Demolished

 II Kings 23

The Altar at Bethel Desecrated and Demolished

15 And the altar that was in Bethel, and the high place that Jeroboam the son of Nebat had made, who had made Israel sin, he also tore down that altar, and he burned the high place, and crushed it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole.

16 And Josiah turned and saw the tombs that were there in the hill, and sent and took the bones from the tombs and burned them on the altar, and thus defiled it, according to the word of the LORD, which the man of God had proclaimed when he proclaimed these words.

17 And he said, “What is this monument that I see?” And the men of the city said to him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came to Judah and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar at Bethel.”

18 And he said, “Let him alone; let no one disturb his bones.” So they left the bones with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.

19 Moreover Josiah took away all the houses of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger; and he did to them according to all the acts that he had done at Bethel.

20 And he sacrificed all the priests of the high places who were there on the altars, and burned human bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem.

II Reis 23 O altar de Betel é profanado e derrubado

II Reis 23

II Kings 23 Josiah Gathers All the People and Renews the Lord's Covenant

 II Kings 23

Josiah Gathers All the People and Renews the Lord's Covenant

1 Then the king gave orders, and all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem assembled before him.

2 Then the king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great. And he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.

3 Then the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk with the Lord and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all their heart and with all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in the book. And all the people stood by the covenant.

4 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to remove from the temple of the Lord all the vessels that had been made for Baal and for the Asherah and for all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and brought their ashes to Bethel.

5 He also removed the priests whom the kings of Judah had set to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

6 He also removed the Asherah from the house of the Lord outside Jerusalem as far as the Kidron Valley, and burned it at the Kidron Valley, and ground it to powder and scattered its powder on the graves of the people.

7 He also tore down the houses of the shameless young men who were in the house of the Lord, where the women wove little houses for the Asherah poles.

8 He brought all the priests from the cities of Judah and defiled the high places where the priests burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba. He also tore down the high places at the entrance to the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on the left hand of the one entering the gate of the city.

9 But the priests of the high places did not sacrifice on the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but ate unleavened bread among their brothers.

10 He also defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Children of Hinnom, so that no one would make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech. 11 He also took away the horses that the kings of Judah had set apart for the sun at the entrance to the house of the Lord, near the chamber of Nathan-melech the eunuch, who was in the precincts; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

12 The king also tore down the altars that were on the roof of the upper room of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars that Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, and he took them from there in pieces, and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.

13 The king also defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, on the right side of Mount Masith, which Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Hamosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

14 He also broke down the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.

II Reis 23 Josias ajunta todo o povo e renova o pacto do Senhor

II Reis 23

Josias ajunta todo o povo e renova o pacto do Senhor
