II Kings 22 Josiah Repairs the Temple

 II Kings 22

Josiah Repairs the Temple

1 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaish from Bozkath.

2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, walking in all the ways of his father David and not turning aside to the right or to the left.

3 In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the Lord, saying,

4 "Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and get the money that has been brought into the house of the Lord, which the keepers of the threshold have collected from the people.

5 And let them give it to the hands of those who have charge of the work and the oversight of the house of the Lord, that they may give it to those who do the work on the house of the Lord, to repair the breaches of the house:

6 To the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons: and to buy timber and dressed stone, to repair the breaches of the house:

7 But they did not count the money that was delivered into their hand, because they worked faithfully.

II Reis 22 Josias repara o templo

II Reis 22

Josias repara o templo

II Kings 21 Amon is an evil king, and his servants kill him

 II Kings 21

Amon is an evil king, and his servants kill him

19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshulemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, just as his father Manasseh had done.

21 For he walked in all the ways his father had walked, and served the idols his father had served, and bowed down to them.

22 So he forsook the Lord, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the Lord.

23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

24 But the people of the land struck down all who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26 And they buried him in his own sepulchre in the garden of Uzzah: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.

II Reis 21 Amom é um mau rei, e os seus servos o matam

II Reis 21

11 क्योंकि यहूदा के राजा मनश्शे ने ऐसे घृणित काम किए, अर्यात्‌ उसके पहिले एमोरी लोगोंसे भी बुरे काम किए, और अपक्की मूरतोंके द्वारा यहूदा से पाप करवाया;

II Kings 21 The Wickedness of Manasseh and the Threats of God

 II Kings 21

The Wickedness of Manasseh and the Threats of God

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hephshibah.

2 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had driven out of their possession before the children of Israel.

3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed, and he erected altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

4 And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, In Jerusalem I will put my Name.

5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

6 He even made his son pass through the fire, and used divination by the clouds, and used omens, and he appointed soothsayers and wizards, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

7 He also made a carved image of the Asherah which he had made in the house of which the Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.

8 And I will not make the foot of Israel move again from this land which I gave to their fathers, only if they observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded them.

9 But they would not listen, for Manasseh led them astray, so that they did worse than the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Then the Lord spoke through his servants the prophets, saying:

11 Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, doing worse than the Amorites who were before him, and has also made Judah sin with their idols;

12 Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah that whoever hears of it will have both his ears tingling.

13 I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plumb line of the house of Ahab; and I will cleanse Jerusalem, as a man cleans a dish and turns it over on his face.

14 And I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and give them into the hand of their enemies; and they will become a plunder and a spoil for all their enemies.

15 For they have done evil in my sight and provoked me to anger, from the day their fathers came out of Egypt even to this day.

16 Moreover, Manasseh also shed innocent blood very much, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to the other, besides his sin by which he made Judah sin, doing evil in the sight of the Lord.

17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin which he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzzah: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

II Reis 21 A impiedade de Manassés e as ameaças de Deus

II Reis 21

11 Porquanto Manassés, rei de Judá, fez essas abominações, fazendo pior do que quanto fizeram os amorreus, que antes dele foram, e até também a Judá fez pecar com os seus ídolos;

II Kings 20 The Embassy of the King of Babylon

 II Kings 20

The Embassy of the King of Babylon

12 At that time Berodach-Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

13 And Hezekiah listened to them and showed them all his treasure house, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointments, and his armory, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing that he did not show them, either in his house or in all his dominion.

14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, “What did these men say, and where did they come from to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They came from a far country, from Babylon.”

15 And he said, “What did they see in your house?” And Hezekiah said, They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.

16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord.

17 Behold, the days are coming, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, shall be carried to Babylon; not a thing shall be left, saith the Lord.

18 And even of your sons that shall come out of you, whom you shall beget, they shall take away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good. And he said, Shall not my days be peace and truth? 20 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

21 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

II Reis 20 A embaixada do rei de Babilônia

II Reis 20

A embaixada do rei de Babilônia

16 Então disse Isaías a Ezequias: Ouve a palavra do Senhor.

II Kings 20 Hezekiah falls ill

 II Kings 20

Hezekiah falls ill

1 In those days Hezekiah became sick to death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: Put your household in order, for you will die and not live.”

2 Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying,

3 “Oh, Lord, remember that I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done what is right in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 Before Isaiah had gone out of the middle of the courtyard, the word of the Lord came to him:

5 “Return and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of your father David: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

6 And I will add fifteen years to your days, and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for my own sake and for the sake of David my servant.

7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took it, and laid it on the wound; and he was healed.

8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What is the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?

9 And Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto you from the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: Shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?

10 And Hezekiah said, It is easy for the shadow to go down ten degrees; no, but the shadow will go back ten degrees. 11 Then Isaiah the prophet cried out to the Lord, and he turned the shadow back ten degrees, according to the degrees it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.

II Reis 20 Ezequias adoece

II Reis 20

Ezequias adoece

 II Kings 19

God Strikes the Assyrians and Delivers Judah

35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred and eighty-five thousand: and when he rose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead bodies.

36 Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt in Nineveh.

37 And it came to pass, when he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adram-melech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: but they escaped into the land of Ararat: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

II Reis 19 Deus fere os assírios e livra Judá

II Reis 19

II Kings 19 Isaiah Comforts Hezekiah

 II Kings 19

Isaiah Comforts Hezekiah

20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I have heard your request concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.

21 This is the word that the Lord spoke to him: The virgin daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you; the daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.

22 Whom have you defied and blasphemed? And against whom have you lifted up your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel?

23 By your messengers you have defied the Lord and said, ‘I will go up with my many chariots to the heights of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars and its beautiful fir trees; I will enter its outermost dwellings, even to the forest of its fruitful fields.

24 I have dug and drunk strange waters, and with the soles of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of the fortified places.

25 Have you not heard that I have done this before, and that I have formed it in ancient times? But now I have brought it about that you should make the fortified cities into desolate heaps.

26 Therefore their inhabitants have shortened their hands, and are astonished and confounded; they are like the grass of the field, and the green herb, and the hay on the housetops, and the corn that is burned before it rises.

27 But I know your sitting down, and your going out, and your coming in, and your fury against me.

28 Because of your fury against me, and because your rebellion has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.

29 And this shall be a sign unto thee; This year thou shalt eat that which groweth of itself, and the second year that which springeth of it; but in the third year sow, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

30 For the remnant of the house of Judah that is escaped, and is left, shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

31 For out of Jerusalem shall come forth the remnant, and out of mount Zion the zeal of the LORD shall do this.

32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there; neither shall he come before it with a shield, nor cast up a siege against it.

33 By the way that he came, by that he shall return; but he shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for the sake of my servant David.

II Reis 19 Isaías conforta Ezequias

II Reis 19

22 A quem afrontaste e blasfemaste?

27 Porém o teu assentar, e o teu sair e o teu entrar, eu o sei, e o teu furor contra mim.
