1 और ऐसा हुआ कि हिजकिय्याह ने यह सुना, और अपने वस्त्र फाड़, और टाट ओढ़ लिया, और यहोवा के भवन में गया।

2 तब उस ने एल्याकीम भण्डारी, और शेब्ना मन्त्री, और टाट ओढ़े हुए याजकोंके पुरनियोंको आमोस के पुत्र यशायाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के पास भेजा।

17 हे यहोवा, यह सच है, कि अश्शूर के राजा जातियोंऔर देशोंको उजाड़ देते हैं।

18 और उन्होंने अपके देवताओंको आग में डाल दिया; क्योंकि वे देवता नहीं, परन्तु मनुष्य के हाथ, लकड़ी और पत्थर की बनाई हुई वस्तुएँ थे; इसलिए उन्होंने उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया.

Hezekiah Prays in the House of the Lord

1 When Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the Lord.

2 Then he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

3 And they said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah: This day is a day of trouble and of reproach and blasphemy, because the children have come to term, and there is no strength to bear them.

4 It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the Lord, the king of Assyria, has sent to reproach the living God and to reproach him with the words that the Lord your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that is left.

5 Then the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

 6 And Isaiah said to them, "Thus you shall say to your Lord; thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

 7 Behold, I will put a spirit within him, and he shall hear a noise, and he shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall with the sword in his own land." 

8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria fighting against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.

 9 And when he heard from Tirhakah king of Cush, saying, "Behold, he is come out to fight against you," he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying, 

10 Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, "Let not your God, in whom you trust, deceive you, saying, 'Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.' 

11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them utterly; will you deliver yourself?

12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them, whom they have destroyed, like Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden, who were in Telassar?

13 What has become of the king of Hamath, and of the king of Arpad, and of the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and of Ivvah?

14 So Hezekiah received the letters from the messengers and read them, and went up to the house of the Lord, and Hezekiah spread them out before the Lord.

15 And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said, O God of Israel, who dwellest between the cherubim, thou, thou alone, hast made heaven and earth.

16 Incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear: Open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, whom he sent to defy the living God.

17 It is true, O Lord, that the kings of Assyria are destroying the nations and the lands.

18 They have cast their gods into the fire, for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

19 Now therefore, O Lord our God, be pleased to deliver us out of their hand; and all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the Lord God.

Ezequias ora na casa do Senhor

 

1 E aconteceu que Ezequias, tendo-o ouvido, rasgou os seus vestidos, e se cobriu de saco, e entrou na casa do Senhor.

2 Então enviou a Eliaquim, o mordomo, e a Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes cobertos de sacos, ao profeta Isaías, filho de Amós.

3 E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia, e de vituperação, e de blasfêmia; porque os filhos chegaram ao parto, e não há força para os ter.

4 Bem pode ser que o Senhor teu Deus ouça todas as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem enviou o senhor, o rei da Assíria, para afrontar o Deus vivo, e para vituperá-lo com as palavras que o Senhor teu Deus tem ouvido: faze pois oração pelo resto que se acha.

5 E os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaías.

6 E Isaías lhes disse: Assim direis a vosso Senhor; assim diz o Senhor: Não temas as palavras que ouviste, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria me blasfemaram.

7 Eis que meterei nele um espírito, e ele ouvirá um ruído, e voltará para a sua terra: à espada o farei cair na sua terra.

8 Voltou pois Rabsaqué, e achou o rei da Assíria pelejando contra Libna, porque tinha ouvido que se havia partido de Laquis.

9 E, ouvindo ele dizer de Tiraca, rei de Cuse: Eis que há saído para te fazer guerra; tornou a enviar mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:

10 Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não te engane o teu Deus, em quem confias, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue na mão do rei da Assíria.

11 Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assíria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente; e tu te livrarás?

12 Porventura as livraram os deuses das nações, a quem destruíram como a Gozã e a Harã, e a Rezefe, e aos filhos de Édem, que estavam em Telassar?

13 Que é feito do rei de Hamate, e do rei de Arpade, e do rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, de Hena e de Iva?

14 Recebendo pois Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros, e lendo-as, subiu à casa do Senhor, e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor.

15 E orou Ezequias perante o Senhor, e disse: Ó Deus de Israel, que habitas entre os querubins, tu mesmo, só tu fizeste os céus e a terra.

16 Inclina, Senhor, o teu ouvido, e ouve; abre, Senhor, os teus olhos, e olha: e ouve as palavras de Senaqueribe, que enviou a este, para afrontar o Deus vivo.

17 Verdade é, ó Senhor, que os reis da Assíria assolam as nações e as terras.

18 E lançaram os seus deuses no fogo; porquanto deuses não eram, mas obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruíram.

19 Agora pois, ó Senhor nosso Deus, sê servido de nos livrar da sua mão; e assim saberão todos os reinos da terra que só tu és o Senhor Deus.

14 तब यहूदा के राजा हिजकिय्याह ने अश्शूर के राजा के पास लाकीश को कहला भेजा, कि मैं ने पाप किया है; मुझ से दूर हो जाओ; जो कुछ भी तुम मुझ पर थोपोगे मैं ले लूँगा। तब अश्शूर के राजा ने यहूदा के राजा हिजकिय्याह पर तीन सौ किक्कार चान्दी और तीस किक्कार सोना लगाया।

15 इसलिये जितनी चान्दी यहोवा के भवन में और राजभवन के भण्डारों में मिली वह सब हिजकिय्याह ने दे दी।

16 उस समय हिजकिय्याह ने यहोवा के मन्दिर के किवाड़ों में से, और उन चौखटों में से, जिनसे यहूदा के राजा हिजकिय्याह ने सोना ढांपा या, सोना काटकर अश्शूर के राजा को दे दिया।

17 परन्तु अश्शूर के राजा ने तर्तन, और रबशरीस, और लाकीश के रबशाके के पास हिजकिय्याह राजा के पास बड़ी सेना भेज दी; वे ऊपरी स्विमिंग पूल के जलसेतु के नीचे खड़े थे, जो कपड़े धोने के मैदान के रास्ते के बगल में है।

18 और उन्होंने राजा को बुलाया, और हिल्किय्याह का पुत्र एल्याकीम जो भण्डारी था, और शेब्ना जो मन्त्री था, और आसाप का पुत्र योआ जो राजधिपति था, वे उनके पास निकल गए।

20 तुम कहते हो (परन्तु तुम्हारे मुंह में यही वचन है, कि युद्ध के लिथे युक्ति और सामर्थ है। फिर अब तुम किस पर भरोसा रखते हो, कि मुझ से बलवा करते हो?

21 देख, अब तू मिस्र में उस टूटे हुए नरकट पर भरोसा रखता है, जिस पर यदि कोई टेक लगाए, तो वह उसके हाथ में घुसकर उसे छेद देगा; मिस्र का राजा फ़िरौन अपने सब भरोसा रखनेवालोंके प्रति वैसा ही है।

22 परन्तु यदि तू मुझ से कहे, कि हम अपके परमेश्वर यहोवा पर भरोसा रखते हैं, तो क्या यह वही नहीं है जिसके ऊंचे स्थानोंऔर वेदियोंको हिजकिय्याह ने यह कहकर ले लिया, कि तुम यरूशलेम की इस वेदी को दण्डवत् करना चाहोगे?

23 इसलिये अब अपके प्रभु अश्शूर के राजा को बन्धक दे, और यदि तू उनके लिये सवार दे सके, तो मैं तुझे दो हजार घोड़े दूंगा।

24 तो फिर तू मेरे प्रभु के छोटे से छोटे सेवकोंमें से एक हाकिम का मुंह क्योंकर फेर सकता है? परन्तु रथोंऔर सवारोंके कारण तुम मिस्र पर भरोसा रखते हो।

25 तो क्या मैं यहोवा के बिना इस स्यान को नाश करने को चढ़ गया हूं? यहोवा ने मुझसे कहा: इस देश पर चढ़ाई करो और इसे नष्ट कर दो।

29 राजा यों कहता है, हिजकिय्याह तुम को धोखा न दे; क्योंकि वह तुम्हें अपने हाथ से बचा न सकेगा;

30 और हिजकिय्याह यह कहकर तुम्हें यहोवा पर भरोसा नहीं रखता, कि यहोवा निश्चय हम को बचाएगा, और यह नगर अश्शूर के राजा के वश में न किया जाएगा।

31 हिजकिय्याह की न सुन; क्योंकि अश्शूर का राजा यों कहता है, कि मुझ से भेंट बान्ध लो, और मेरे पास आकर अपनी अपनी दाखलता और अंजीर के वृक्ष का फल खाओ, और अपने अपने कुण्ड में से जल पीओ।

Sennacherib invades Judah

13 But in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

14 Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, "I have sinned; depart from me; whatever you impose on me I will take." Then the king of Assyria imposed on Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15 So Hezekiah gave all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king's house.

16 At that time Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord and from the doorposts that Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan, and Rabsaris, and Rabshakeh, from Lachish, with a great army, to King Hezekiah, to Jerusalem: and they went up, and came to Jerusalem: and as they went up and came, they stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is by the way of the fuller's field.

 18 And they called the king: and Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to them.

 19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Tell Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this in which thou trustest? 

20 Thou sayest (but the word of thy lips is), There is counsel and power for war. In whom then do thou trust now, that thou rebellest against me? 

21 Now you trust in Egypt, a staff of broken reeds; if anyone leans on it, it will go through his hand and pierce it. This is how Pharaoh king of Egypt is to all who trust in him. 

22 But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the Lord our God,’ is this not the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You will bow down to this altar in Jerusalem?’ 

23 Now therefore give hostages to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able to give them riders. 

24 How then can you turn away the face of one of the least of my lord’s servants? Yet you trust in Egypt because of the chariots and horsemen. 

25 Now therefore have I come up against this place without the Lord to destroy it? The Lord said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it.’

 26 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, Shebna, and Joah said to Rabshakeh, "Please speak to your servants in Syriac, for we understand it, and do not speak to us in Judah in the ears of the people who are on the wall."

 27 But Rabshakeh said to them, "Did my lord send me to speak these words only to your lord and to you, and not to the men who sit on the wall, so that they may eat their dung and drink their urine with you?" 

28 So Rabshakeh stood up and cried out with a loud voice in Judah, and spoke, and said, "Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria. 

29 Thus says the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand. 

30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

31 Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make a bargain with me for a present, and come out to me, and let each of you eat his vine and his fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern,

32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees, oil and honey; then you will live and not die. Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is urging you, saying, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’

33 Have the gods of the nations been able to deliver each of their lands out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34 What about the gods of Hamath and Arpad? What has become of the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

35 Who are they among all the gods of the lands who have delivered their land out of my hand, so that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

36 But the people kept silent and did not answer him a word, for the king had commanded, “You shall not answer him.”

37 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

13 Porém no ano décimo quarto do rei Ezequias subiu Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, contra todas as cidades fortes de Judá, e as tomou.

14 Então Ezequias, rei de Judá, enviou ao rei da Assíria, a Laquis, dizendo: Pequei; retira-te de mim; tudo o que me impuseres levarei. Então o rei da Assíria impôs a Ezequias, rei de Judá, trezentos talentos de prata e trinta talentos de ouro.

15 Assim deu Ezequias toda a prata que se achou na casa do Senhor e nos tesouros da casa do rei.

16 Naquele tempo cortou Ezequias o ouro das portas do templo do Senhor, e das ombreiras, de que Ezequias, rei de Judá, as cobrira, e o deu ao rei da Assíria.

17 Contudo enviou o rei da Assíria a Tartã, e a Rabsáris e a Rabsaqué, de Laquis, com um grande exército, ao rei Ezequias, a Jerusalém: e subiram, e vieram a Jerusalém: e, subindo e vindo eles, pararam ao pé do aqueduto da piscina superior, que está junto ao caminho do campo do lavadeiro.

20 Dizes tu (porém a palavra de lábios é): Há conselho e poder para a guerra. Em quem pois agora confias, que contra mim te revoltas?

21 Eis que agora tu confias naquele bordão de cana quebrada, no Egito, no qual, se alguém se encostar, entrar-lhe-á pela mão e lha furará; assim é Faraó, rei do Egito, para com todos os que nele confiam.

22 Se porém me disserdes: No Senhor nosso Deus confiamos: porventura não é este aquele cujos altos e cujos altares Ezequias tirou, dizendo a Judá e a Jerusalém: Perante este altar vos inclinareis em Jerusalém?

23 Ora pois dá agora reféns ao meu senhor, o rei da Assíria, e dar-te-ei dois mil cavalos, se tu puderes dar cavaleiros para eles.

24 Como pois farias virar o rosto de um só príncipe dos menores servos de meu senhor? Porém tu confias no Egito, por causa dos carros e cavaleiros.

25 Agora pois subi eu porventura sem o Senhor contra este lugar, para o destruir? O Senhor me disse: Sobe contra esta terra, e destrói-a.

26 Então disse Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, e Sebna, e Joá, a Rabsaqué: Rogamos-te que fales aos teus servos em siríaco; porque bem o entendemos e não nos fales em judaico, aos ouvidos do povo que está em cima do muro.

27 Porém Rabsaqué lhes disse: Porventura mandou-me meu senhor só a teu senhor e a ti, para falar estas palavras e não antes aos homens, que estão sentados em cima do muro, para que juntamente convosco comam o seu esterco e bebam a sua urina?

28 Rabsaqué pois se pôs em pé, e clamou em alta voz em judaico, e falou, e disse: Ouvi a palavra do grande rei, do rei da Assíria.

29 Assim diz o rei: Não vos engane Ezequias; porque não vos poderá livrar da sua mão;

30 Nem tão pouco vos faça Ezequias confiar no Senhor, dizendo: Certamente nos livrará o Senhor, e esta cidade não será entregue na mão do rei da Assíria.

2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.

4 He removed the high places, broke the images, cut down the Asherah poles, and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until that day the children of Israel had burned incense to it; and they called it Nehushtan.

5 He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel, so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.

7 So the Lord was with him; wherever he went out he behaved himself wisely; and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and did not serve him.

8 He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza, and its borders, from the watchtower to the fortified city.

9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of King Hezekiah (9 which was the seventh year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel), that Shalmaneser king of Assyria went up against Samaria, and besieged it.

10 And they took it at the end of three years, in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, when they took Samaria.

 11 And the king of Assyria carried Israel away into Assyria, and brought them to Halah, and to Habor, by the river of Gozan, and to the cities of the Medes: 

12 Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant: and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded they neither hearkened unto, nor did.

24 And the king of Assyria brought people from Babel, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they took Samaria for an inheritance, and dwelt in its cities.

25 And it came to pass, when they first dwelt there, that they feared not the LORD: and the LORD sent lions among them, and they slew some of them.

26 And they spake unto the king of Assyria, saying, The nation whom thou hast brought away, and made to dwell in Samaria, knoweth not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and behold, they are slaying them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Take thither one of the priests whom we brought away from thence: and let them go and dwell there, and he will teach them the manner of the God of the land.

28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the Lord.

29 But every nation made its gods, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities where they dwelt.

30 And the people of Babel made Succoth-benoth; and the people of Cuthah made Nergal; and the people of Hamath made Ashima.

31 And the Avvites made Nibah and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Asdram-melech and Anam-melech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

32 So they feared the Lord: and from the lowest of the low they made priests of the high places, who ministered in the houses of the high places.

34 To this day they do according to their former customs: they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow his statutes, or his ordinances, or the law, or the commandment which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel. 

35 But the Lord had made a covenant with them and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them. 

36 But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, him you shall fear, and to him you shall bow down, and to him you shall sacrifice.

 37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do always, and you shall not fear other gods. 

38 And you shall not forget the covenant which I have made with you, nor shall you fear other gods. 

39 But you shall fear the Lord your God, and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. 

40 But they would not listen; they did according to their former custom. 

41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their carved images; their children also, and their children's children, as their fathers did, so do they to this day.

1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign, and he reigned over Israel in Samaria nine years.

2 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who were before him.

3 Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him, and Hoshea became his servant and gave him gifts.

4 But the king of Assyria found a conspiracy in Hoshea, because he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and had not paid the king of Assyria gifts year by year, as before. So the king of Assyria shut him up and put him in prison.

5 For the king of Assyria went up throughout the land and came to Samaria and besieged it three years.

6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor by the River Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. 

7 So it happened because the Israelites sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they feared other gods. 

8 They followed the statutes of the nations whom the LORD had driven out before the Israelites and of the kings of Israel whom they had made. 

9 The Israelites secretly did things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city. 

10 They set up sacred images and groves on every high hill and under every green tree. 

11 And they burned incense there in all the high places, like the nations whom the Lord had driven away before them, and they did wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger.

12 And they served the idols of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do these things.”

13 And the Lord testified to Israel and Judah by all the prophets and all the seers, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

14 But they would not listen; they stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God.

15 And they rejected his statutes and his covenant which he had made with their fathers, and his testimonies with which he testified against them; and they followed vanity and became vain, and after the nations that were around them, whom the Lord had commanded them not to do as they had done.

16 They forsook all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made themselves molten images, two calves, and made an idol of the Asherah, and bowed down to all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

17 They also made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and used divination and omens, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

18 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight; none remained but the tribe of Judah. ​​

19 Judah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel, which they had made. 

20 Therefore the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and oppressed them and gave them into the hands of plunderers, until he had removed them from his presence.

 21 For he tore Israel from the house of David and made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. Jeroboam led Israel away from following the Lord and made them sin a great sin.

 22 So the Israelites walked in all the sins that Jeroboam had done; they did not depart from them. 

23 Until the Lord removed Israel from his presence, as he had spoken through all his servants the prophets, so Israel was carried away from their own land to Assyria to this day.

3 Contra ele subiu Salmanasar, rei da Assíria: e Oséias ficou sendo servo dele, e dava-lhe presentes.

4 Porém o rei da Assíria achou em Oséias conspiração; porque enviara mensageiros a Sô, rei do Egito, e não pagava presentes ao rei da Assíria cada ano, como dantes; então o rei da Assíria o encerrou e aprisionou na casa do cárcere.

5 Porque o rei da Assíria subiu por toda a terra, e veio até Samaria, e a cercou três anos.

6 No ano nono de Oséias, o rei da Assíria tomou a Samaria, e transportou a Israel para a Assíria; e fê-los habitar em Hala, e em Habor, junto ao rio de Gozã, e nas cidades dos medos.

7 E sucedeu assim por os filhos de Israel pecarem contra o Senhor seu Deus, que os fizera subir da terra do Egito, de debaixo da mão de Faraó, rei do Egito; e temeram a outros deuses.

8 E andaram nos estatutos das nações que o Senhor lançara fora de diante dos filhos de Israel, e nos dos reis de Israel que eles fizeram.

9 E os filhos de Israel fizeram secretamente coisas que não eram retas, contra o Senhor seu Deus; e edificaram altos em todas as suas cidades, desde a torre dos atalaias até à cidade forte.

10 E levantaram estátuas e imagens do bosque, em todos os altos outeiros, e debaixo de todas as árvores verdes.

11 E queimaram ali incenso em todos os altos, como as nações, que o Senhor transportara de diante deles: e fizeram coisas ruins, para provocarem à ira o Senhor.

12 E serviram os ídolos, dos quais o Senhor lhes dissera: Não fareis estas coisas.

13 E o Senhor protestou a Israel e a Judá, pelo ministério de todos os profetas e de todos os videntes, dizendo: Convertei-vos de vossos maus caminhos, e guardai os meus mandamentos e os meus estatutos, conforme toda a lei que ordenei a vossos pais e que eu vos enviei pelo ministério de meus servos, os profetas.

14 Porém não deram ouvidos; antes endureceram a sua cerviz, como a cerviz de seus pais, que não creram no Senhor seu Deus.

15 E rejeitaram os seus estatutos, e o seu concerto, que fizera com seus pais. Como também os seus testemunhos, com que protestara contra eles; e andaram após a vaidade, e ficaram vãos; como também após as nações, que estavam em roda deles, das quais o Senhor lhes tinha dito que não fizessem como elas.

16 E deixaram todos os mandamentos do Senhor seu Deus, e fizeram imagens de fundição, dois bezerros: e fizeram um ídolo do bosque, e se prostraram perante todo o exército do céu, e serviam a Baal.

17 Também fizeram passar pelo fogo a seus filhos e suas filhas, e deram-se a adivinhações, e criam em agouros; e venderam-se para fazer o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor para o provocarem à ira.

18 Pelo que o Senhor muito se indignou sobre Israel, e os tirou de diante da sua face; nada mais ficou, senão só a tribo de Judá.

19 Até Judá não guardou os mandamentos do Senhor seu Deus; antes andaram nos estatutos de Israel, que eles fizeram.

20 Pelo que o Senhor rejeitou a toda a semente de Israel, e os oprimiu e os deu nas mãos dos despojadores, até que os tirou de diante da sua presença.

21 Porque rasgou a Israel da casa de Davi, e fizeram rei a Jeroboão filho de Nebate e Jeroboão apartou a Israel de seguir o Senhor, e os fez pecar um grande pecado.

22 Assim andaram os filhos de Israel em todos os pecados que Jeroboão tinha feito: nunca se apartaram deles.

10 Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria. And when he saw an altar that was in Damascus, King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest the likeness of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its workmanship.

11 And Uriah the priest built an altar according to all that King Ahaz had commanded from Damascus; so did Uriah the priest before King Ahaz came from Damascus.

12 When the king of Damascus came, the king saw the altar; and the king approached the altar and sacrificed on it.

13 And he burned his burnt offering and his grain offering, and poured out his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on it.

14 14 But the bronze altar that was before the Lord he took from before the house, from between his altar and the house of the Lord, and put it beside his altar on the north side.

15 Then King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, saying, "On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening grain offering, the king's burnt offering, his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their grain offering, and their drink offerings; and you shall sprinkle all the blood of the burnt offerings and all the blood of the sacrifices on it; but the bronze altar shall be mine, that I may inquire of it."

16 So Uriah the priest did according to all that King Ahaz commanded him. 

17 Then King Ahaz cut off the bands of the stands and took the laver off them, and the sea took it off the copper oxen that were under it and set it on a stone floor.

18 He also took away the Sabbath covering that they had built in the temple and the king's outer entrance out of the house of the Lord because of the king of Assyria.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz and what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

14 Porém o altar de cobre, que estava perante o Senhor, tirou de diante da casa, de entre o seu altar e a casa do Senhor, e pô-lo ao lado do seu altar, da banda do norte.

15 E o rei Acaz mandou a Urias o sacerdote, dizendo: No grande altar queima o holocausto da manhã, como também a oferta de manjares da noite, e o holocausto do rei, e a sua oferta de manjares e o holocausto de todo o povo da terra, a sua oferta de manjares, e as suas ofertas de bebidas; e todo o sangue dos holocaustos, e todo o sangue dos sacrifícios espargirás nele; porém o altar de cobre será para mim, para inquirir dele.

16 E fez Urias, o sacerdote, conforme tudo quanto o rei Acaz lhe ordenara.

17 E o rei Acaz cortou as cintas das bases, e de cima delas tomou a pia, e o mar tirou-o de sobre os bois de cobre que estavam debaixo dele, e pô-lo sobre um pavimento de pedra.

18 Também a coberta do sábado, que edificaram na casa, e a entrada de fora do rei retirou da casa do Senhor, por causa do rei da Assíria.

19 Ora o mais dos sucessos de Acaz, e o que fez, porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?

20 E dormiu Acaz com seus pais, e foi sepultado junto a seus pais, na cidade de Davi: e Ezequias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.

2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem. He did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God, as his father David had done.

3 For he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even his son passed through the fire, following the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the children of Israel.

4 He also sacrificed and burned incense on the high places and on the hills and under every tree.

5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel came up against Jerusalem to battle. They besieged Ahaz but could not defeat him.

6 At that time Rezin king of Syria restored Elath to Syria, and expelled the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath and have lived there to this day. 

7 Then Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son; come up and rescue me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who have risen up against me."

 8 Then Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king's house, and sent a present to the king of Assyria. 

9 And the king of Assyria listened to him, for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and captured it, and brought the people to Kir, and killed Rezin.
