14 और एलीशा अपनी बीमारी से ऐसा बीमार हो गया कि वह मर गया; और इस्राएल का राजा यहोआश उसके पास आकर उसके मुंह पर गिरकर रोने लगा, और कहने लगा, हे मेरे पिता, हे इस्राएल के रथ, और उनके सवार!

15 एलीशा ने उस से कहा, धनुष और तीर ले ले। और उसने धनुष-बाण ले लिया।

16 तब इस्राएल के राजा ने कहा, अपना हाथ धनुष पर चढ़ा। और उस ने उस पर अपना हाथ रखा; और एलीशा ने अपने हाथ राजा के हाथों पर रखे।

19 तब परमेश्वर का जन उस पर बहुत क्रोधित हुआ, और कहा, तुझे तो उसे पांच या छः बार मारना चाहिए था; फिर तो तू अरामियोंको तब तक मारता, जब तक कि वह उन्हें भस्म न कर दे; परन्तु अब तू अरामियों को केवल तीन बार ही मारता।

Elisha falls ill and Jehoash comes to him

14 Now Elisha was sick with his illness, and he died. And Jehoash king of Israel went down to him and wept on his face, and said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!

15 And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and arrows.” And he took a bow and arrows.

16 Then the king of Israel said, “Put your hand on the bow.” And he put his hand on it. And Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

17 And he said, “Open the window toward the east.” And he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot.” And he shot, and said, “The arrow of the LORD’s salvation is the arrow of salvation against the Syrians; for you will strike the Syrians at Aphek until you have consumed them.”

18 And he said, “Take the arrows.” And he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, "Strike the ground." And he struck it three times, and it stopped.

19 Then the man of God was very angry with him, and said, "You should have struck it five or six times; then you would have struck the Syrians until you had consumed them; but now you will strike the Syrians only three times."

15 E Eliseu lhe disse: Toma um arco e flechas. E tomou um arco e flechas.

16 Então disse o rei de Israel: Põe a tua mão sobre o arco. E pôs sobre ela a sua mão; e Eliseu pôs as suas mãos sobre as mãos do rei.

17 E disse: Abre a janela para o oriente. E abriu-a. Então disse Eliseu: Atira. E atirou; e disse: A flecha do livramento do Senhor é a flecha do livramento contra os siros; porque ferirás os siros em Afeque, até os consumir.

18 Disse mais: Toma as flechas. E tomou-as. Então disse ao rei de Israel: Fere a terra. E feriu-a três vezes, e cessou.

19 Então o homem de Deus se indignou muito contra ele, e disse: Cinco ou seis vezes a deverias ter ferido: então feririas os siros até os consumir: porém agora só três vezes ferirás os siros.

1 अहज्याह के पुत्र यहूदा के राजा योआश के राज्य के तेईसवें वर्ष में येहू का पुत्र यहोआहाज शोमरोन में इस्राएल पर राज्य करने लगा, और सत्रह वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा।

2 और उस ने वह किया जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में बुरा जान पड़ा; क्योंकि वह नबात के पुत्र यारोबाम, जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया या, उसके पापों के अनुसार चला; वह उनसे अलग नहीं हुआ।

3 इस कारण यहोवा का कोप इस्राएल पर भड़क उठा, और उस ने उनको अराम के राजा हजाएल के वश में कर दिया, और हजाएल के पुत्र बेनदाद के वश में कर दिया।

4 परन्तु योआहाज ने यहोवा के साम्हने बिनती की; और यहोवा ने उसकी सुन ली; क्योंकि उस ने इस्राएल पर अन्धेर देखा, क्योंकि अराम के राजा ने उन पर अन्धेर किया था।

5 और यहोवा ने इस्राएल को एक उद्धारकर्ता दिया, और वे अरामियों के हाथ से निकल गए; और इस्राएली पहिले के समान अपने डेरे में बस गए।

6 तौभी वे यारोबाम के घराने के, जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया या, उसके पापों से अलग न हुए; वरन उन पर चलते रहे, और शोमरोन में जंगल भी बना रहा।

12 यहोआश की और सब विजयें, और जो कुछ उसने किया, और उसकी शक्ति जिस से वह यहूदा के राजा अमस्याह से लड़ा, वह सब क्या इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में नहीं लिखा है?

Jehoahaz and Joash, Kings of Israel

1 In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seventeen years.

2 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, for he followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin; he did not depart from them.

3 Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael all those days.

4 But Jehoahaz pleaded before the Lord, and the Lord heard him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Aram oppressed them.

5 And the LORD gave Israel a savior, and they came out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as before. 

6 (However, they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, which he made Israel to sin; but walked in them: and the grove also remained in Samaria.) 

7 For he left no people to Jehoahaz, save fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen: for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had ground them to powder.

 8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 

9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Joash his son reigned in his stead. 

10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.

11 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, but walked in them.

12 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

13 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat on his throne: and Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

1 No ano vinte e três de Joás, filho de Acazias, rei de Judá, começou a reinar Joacaz, filho de Jéu, sobre Israel, em Samaria, e reinou dezessete anos.

2 E fez o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor; porque seguiu os pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que fez pecar a Israel; não se apartou deles.

3 Pelo que a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Israel: e deu-os na mão de Hazael, rei da Síria, e na mão de Benadade, filho de Hazael, todos aqueles dias.

4 Porém Joacaz suplicou diante da face do Senhor; e o Senhor o ouviu; pois viu opressão de Israel, porque os oprimia o rei da Síria.

5 E o Senhor deu um salvador a Israel, e saíram de debaixo das mãos dos siros: e os filhos de Israel habitavam nas suas tendas, como dantes.

6 (Contudo não se apartaram dos pecados da casa de Jeroboão, que fez pecar a Israel; porém andaram neles: e também o bosque ficou em pé em Samaria)

7 Porque não deixou a Joacaz mais povo, senão só cinqüenta cavaleiros, e dez carros, e dez mil homens de pé: porquanto o rei da Síria os tinha destruído e os tinha feito como o pó rilhando-os.

8 Ora o mais dos sucessos de Joacaz e tudo quanto fez mais, e o seu poder, porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?

9 E Joacaz dormiu com seus pais, e o sepultaram em Samaria. E Joás, seu filho reinou em seu lugar.

10 No ano trinta e sete de Joás, rei de Judá, começou a reinar Jeoás, filho de Joacaz, sobre Israel, em Samaria, e reinou dezesseis anos.

11 E fez o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor: não se apartou de nenhum dos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que fez pecar a Israel, porém andou neles.

12 Ora o mais dos sucessos de Jeoás, e tudo quanto fez mais, e o seu poder, com que pelejou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?

13 E Jeoás dormiu com seus pais, e Jeroboão se assentou no seu trono: e Jeoás, foi sepultado em Samaria, junto aos reis de Israel.
