15 And he departed from there, and met Jonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he saluted him, and said unto him, Is thy heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jonadab said, It is. If so, give me thy hand. And he gave him his hand, and took him up into his chariot.

16 And he said, Go with me, and thou shalt see my zeal for the LORD. And they put him in his chariot.

17 And he came to Samaria, and smote all that were left of the house of Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD, which he had spoken to Elijah.

18 And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

19 Therefore call to me now all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let not one be missing, for I have a great sacrifice to offer to Baal; whoever is missing shall not live. But Jehu did this craftily, to destroy the servants of Baal.

20 And Jehu said, Consecrate a solemn assembly to Baal. And they proclaimed.

21 And Jehu sent throughout all Israel: and all the servants of Baal came, and there was not a man of them that did not come: and they entered the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to the other.

22 Then he said to him that was in charge of the wardrobe, Bring forth the garments for all the servants of Baal. And he brought forth their garments. 

23 Then Jehu and Jehonadab the son of Rechab went into the house of Baal and said to the servants of Baal, "Search and see that there is none of the servants of the Lord here with you, but only the servants of Baal."

 24 As they were about to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu prepared eighty men outside and said to them, "If any of the men I give into your hands escape, your life will be for his life." 

25 When he had finished offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to his guard and his captains, "Go in and strike them down; let not one of them escape." So they struck them with the edge of the sword. The guards and the captains threw them out and went to the city of the house of Baal. 

26 They took the images out of the house of Baal and burned them. 

27 They also broke down the image of Baal, and tore down the house of Baal, and made it a cesspool, unto this day. 

28 So Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel. 

29 But Jehu did not turn aside from following the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, namely, the golden calves that were in Bethel and in Dan.

 30 And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in doing that which is right in my eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

 31 But Jehu took not heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart, nor did he turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin. 

32 In those days the Lord began to reduce the borders of Israel, because Hazael defeated them in all the borders of Israel: 

33 From the Jordan eastward, and all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, that is, Gilead, and Bashan. 

34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of Israel?

1 Then Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, "Gird up your loins, and take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.

2 When you come there, see where Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, is; and go in and get him up from among his brothers, and bring him into the inner room.

3 Then take the flask of oil and pour it on his head, and say, 'Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you king over Israel.' Then open the door and flee, and do not stay."

4 So the young prophet went to Ramoth-gilead.

5 And when he came in, behold, the captains of the army were sitting there; and he said, "Captain, I have a word to say to you." And Jehu said, Which of us all? And he said, To you, captain! 

6 Then he arose, and went into the house, and poured the oil upon his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the LORD, over Israel.

 7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, may be avenged at the hand of Jezebel. 

8 And the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab every male, both him that is shut up and him that is left in Israel. 

9 For I will do unto the house of Ahab as unto the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and as unto the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah. 

10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the parcel of ground of Jezreel; there shall be none to bury her. Then he opened the door, and fled. 

11 Then Jehu went out to his master's servants and said to him, "Is everything all right? Why did this madman come to you?" He said to them, "You know the man and his speech." 

12 But they said, "It is a lie; now tell us." And he said, "Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, 'Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you king over Israel.' 

13 Then they hurried and took each man his garment and put it under him on the top step. Then they blew the trumpet and said, "Jehu reigns." 

14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. Now Joram had besieged Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria. 

15 But King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds the Syrians had given him when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Jehu said, If it be your will, let no man go forth out of the city, nor escape, to go and tell it in Jezreel.

16 So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel: for Joram was lying there: and Ahaziah king of Judah had also come down to see Joram.

17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the troop of Jehu coming, and said, I see a troop. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet him, and say, Is it peace?

18 And the horseman went to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What have you to do with peace? Get behind me. And the watchman told him, saying, The messenger came unto them, and returneth not.

19 Then he sent another horseman; and he came unto them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What have you to do with peace? Get behind me.

20 And the watchman told him, saying, This man also came to them, but he is not returning; and his way is like the way of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he walks furiously.

21 Then Joram said, Prepare the chariot. And they prepared their chariot. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him in the parcel of ground of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he said, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of your mother Jezebel and her sorceries are so great?

23 Then Joram turned his hands, and fled: and he said to Ahaziah, There is treason, Ahaziah.

24 But Jehu bent his bow with all his might and struck Joram between the arms, so that the arrow came out through his heart, and he fell down in his chariot. 

25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Take him and throw him into the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. For remember that when you and I rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden on him, saying,

 26 “If I had not seen yesterday evening the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, declares the Lord, I would not have repaid you in this field, declares the Lord. Now therefore take him and throw him into this field, according to the word of the Lord.” 

27 When Ahaziah king of Judah saw it, he fled by the way of the garden house, but Jehu pursued after him and said, “Strike this chariot also at the ascent of Gur, which is near Jibleam.” And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

28 And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

29 And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah began to reign over Judah. ​​

30 And Jehu came to Jezreel: and when Jezebel heard of it, she painted her eyes, and adorned her head, and looked out of the window.

31 And when Jehu came in at the gate, she said, Is Zimri at peace, who slew his master?

36 And they returned, and told him: and he said, This is the word of the LORD: who spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, "In the parcel of land of Jezreel the dogs will eat the flesh of Jezebel.

16 In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, while Jehoshaphat was still reigning in Judah, Joram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

17 He was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the kings of the house of Ahab, for he had Ahab's daughter as his wife, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.

19 However, the Lord would not destroy Judah for the sake of his servant David, as he had promised him to give him a lamp for his sons forever.

20 In his days the Edomites rebelled against the rule of Judah, and they set up a king over themselves.

22 Nevertheless the Edomites rebelled against the rule of Judah to this day; and Libnah also rebelled at that time.

 23 Now the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of Judah? 

24 And Jehoram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

16 E no ano quinto de Jorão, filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, reinando ainda Josafá em Judá, começou a reinar Jorão, filho de Josafá, rei de Judá.

17 Era ele da idade de trinta anos quando começou a reinar, e oito anos reinou em Jerusalém.

18 E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como também fizeram os da casa de Acabe, porque tinha por mulher a filha de Acabe, e fez o que parecia mal aos olhos do Senhor.

19 Porém o Senhor não quiz destruir a Judá por amor a Davi, seu servo, como lhe tinha dito que lhe daria para sempre uma lâmpada a seus filhos.

20 Nos seus dias se revoltaram os edomitas contra o mando de Judá, e puseram sobre si um rei.

21 Pelo que Jorão passou a Zair, e todos os carros com ele: e ele se levantou de noite, e feriu os edomitas que estavam ao redor dele, e os capitães dos carros; e o povo se foi para as suas tendas.

22 Todavia os edomitas ficaram revoltados contra o mando de Judá até ao dia de hoje: então também, se revoltou Libna no mesmo tempo.

23 O mais dos sucessos de Jorão, e tudo quanto fez porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas de Judá?

24 E Jeorão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com seus pais na cidade de Davi: e Acazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

7 Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-Adam king of Syria was sick. And it was told him, saying, The man of God has come here.

8 Then the king said to Hazael, "Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord for him, saying, 'Shall I recover from this disease?'

9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present in his hand, forty camels' load of all that was good in Damascus. And he came and stood before him and said, 'Your son Ben-Adam king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, 'Shall I recover from this disease?'

10 And Elisha said to him, "Go and tell him, 'You will certainly not recover. For the Lord has shown me that he will certainly die.'

11 And he lifted up his eyes, and looked intently at him, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

12 And Hazael said, Why weepest thou, my lord? And he said, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their fortresses shalt thou set on fire, and their young men shalt thou slay with the sword, and shalt dash their little ones in pieces, and shalt rip up their pregnant women.

13 And Hazael said, What is thy servant, that he is but a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha said, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Aram.

14 And he departed from Elisha, and came to his lord: and his lord said unto him, What said Elisha to thee? And he said, He said unto me that thou shalt surely recover.

15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a blanket, and dipped it in water, and spread it upon his face, and died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.

7 Depois veio Eliseu a Damasco, estando Benadete, rei da Síria, doente, e lho anunciaram, dizendo: O homem de Deus é chegado aqui.

8 Então o rei disse a Hazael: Toma um presente na tua mão, e vai a encontrar-te com o homem de Deus: e pergunta por ele ao Senhor, dizendo: Hei de eu sarar desta doença?

9 Foi pois Hazael a encontrar-se com ele, e tomou um presente na sua mão, a saber: de tudo que era bom de Damasco, quarenta camelos carregados; e veio, e se pôs diante dele, e disse: Teu filho Benadade, rei da Síria, me enviou a ti, a dizer: Sararei eu desta doença?

10 E Eliseu lhe disse: Vai, e dize-lhe: Certamente não sararás. Porque o Senhor me tem mostrado que certamente morrerá.

11 E afirmou a sua vista, e fitou os olhos nele até se envergonhar: e chorou o homem de Deus.

12 Então disse Hazael: Por que chora meu senhor? E ele disse: Porque sei o mal que hás de fazer aos filhos de Israel: porás fogo às suas fortalezas, e os seus mancebos matarás à espada, e os seus meninos despedaçarás, e as suas pejadas fenderás.

13 E disse Hazael: Pois que é teu servo, que não é mais do que um cão, para fazer tão grande coisa? E disse Eliseu: O Senhor me tem mostrado que tu hás de ser rei da Síria.

14 Então partiu de Eliseu, e veio a seu senhor, o qual lhe disse: Que te disse Eliseu? E disse ele: Disse-me que certamente sararás.

15 E sucedeu ao outro dia que tomou um cobertor, e o molhou na água, e o estendeu sobre o seu rosto, e morreu. E Hazael reinou em seu lugar.

2 और उस स्त्री ने उठकर परमेश्वर के भक्त के वचन के अनुसार किया, और अपके घराने समेत पलिश्तियोंके देश में सात वर्ष तक परदेशी होकर रही।

3 और सात वर्ष के बीतने पर वह स्त्री पलिश्तियोंके देश से लौट आई, और अपके घर और भूमि के लिथे राजा के पास दोहाई देने को निकली।

4 तब राजा ने परमेश्वर के जवान गेहजी से कहा, एलीशा ने जो बड़े बड़े काम किए हैं, उन सभोंको मुझे बताओ।

5 और ऐसा हुआ कि जब उस ने राजा को यह समाचार दिया, कि उस ने एक मरे हुए बालक को जिलाया या, तब वह स्त्री, जिसका बेटा उस ने जिलाया था, अपने घर और अपनी भूमि के लिथे राजा के पास चिल्लाई; और गेहजी ने कहा, हे मेरे प्रभु, , हे राजा, यही वह स्त्री है, और यह उसका पुत्र है, जिसे एलीशा ने जीवित किया है।

The Shunammite Returns to Her Land

1 Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn, for the Lord has called a famine, and it will also be on the land for seven years.”

2 So the woman arose and did as the man of God had said, and she and her household sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 And it came to pass at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines, and went to cry to the king for her house and for her land.

4 And the king spoke to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

 5 And it came to pass, as he told the king how he had restored a dead child, that, behold, the woman whose son he had restored cried to the king for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life."

 6 And the king inquired of the woman, and she told him. Then the king appointed an officer to her, saying, "Restore to her all that was hers, and all the increase of the land from the day she left the land until now."
