13 And there was no bread in all the land because the famine was very severe; so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan fainted because of hunger.
14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
15 For if Dissolving-money of the land of Egypt, and the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, saying, Give us bread; Why should we die in your presence? because money is lacking.
16 And Joseph said, Give your cattle, and I will give you for your cattle, if money missing.
17 And they brought their cattle to Joseph; and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and sheep, and cows and donkeys; and with bread that year for all their livestock.
18 And ending that year, came to him the second year, and said to him: Do not hide from my lord that the money is gone, and my master has the animals, and anything else left in the sight of the face of my lord, but our bodies and our land;
19 Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? For to us and to our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh, and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and the land be not desolate.
20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine was severe on them; and the land became Pharaoh's.
21 And as the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the earth of Egypt until the other end.
22 Only the land of the priests did not buy, for the priests had Pharaoh portion, and they ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them; why not sell their land.
23 Then Joseph said to the people, behold, today I have bought you and your land for Pharaoh; behold ye seed for you, that sow the land.
24 There is to be, but that the harvest will give the fifth to Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and you are in your houses, and that they may eat your children.
25 And they said life have given us; Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
26 Joseph as put it by statute to the day, on the land of Egypt, that Pharaoh should have the fifth, only the land of the priests did not become Pharaoh.
27 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they had possessions therein, and were fruitful and multiplied exceedingly.
28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; so that the days of Jacob, the years of his life, was an hundred forty-seven.
29 Coming up since the time of the death of Israel, called Joseph his son, and said unto him, If now I have found favor in your eyes, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and uses me charity it is true; I beg you not to bury me in Egypt,
30 But I Jahaz with my parents; so bring me out of Egypt, and bury me in their grave. And he said, I will do as you say.
31 And he said, Swear to me. And he swore to him; and Israel leaned on the headboard.

16 E José disse: Dai o vosso gado, e eu vo-lo darei por vosso gado, se falta dinheiro.
17 Então trouxeram o seu gado a José; e José deu-lhes pão em troca de cavalos, e de ovelhas, e das vacas e dos jumentos; e os sustentou de pão aquele ano por todo o seu gado.
18 E acabando aquele ano, vieram a ele no segundo ano, e disseram-lhe: Não ocultaremos ao meu senhor que o dinheiro é acabado, e meu senhor possui os animais, e nenhuma outra coisa nos ficou diante da face de meu senhor, senão o nosso corpo e a nossa terra;
19 Por que morreremos diante dos teus olhos, tanto nós como a nossa terra? Compra-nos a nós e á nossa terra por pão e nós e a nossa terra seremos servos de Faraó, e dá semente para que vivamos, e não morramos, e a terra não se desole.
20 Assim José comprou toda a terra do Egito para Faraó, porque os egípcios venderam cada um o seu campo, porquanto a fome era extrema sobre eles; e a terra ficou sendo de Faraó.
21 E quanto o povo, fê-lo passar ás cidades, desde uma extremidade da terra do Egito até á outra extremidade.
22 Somente as terras dos sacerdotes não a comprou, porquanto os sacerdotes tinham porção de Faraó, e eles comiam a sua porção que Faraó lhes tinha dado; por isso não venderam a sua terra.
23 Então disse José ao povo: eis que hoje vos tenho comprado a vós e a vossa terra para Faraó; eis aí tendes sementes para vós, para que semeeis a terra.
24 Há de ser, porém que das colheitas darei o quinto a Faraó, e as quatro partes serão vossas, para semente do campo, e para o vosso mantimento, e dos que estão nas vossas casas, e para que comam os vossos meninos.
25 E disseram: a vida nos tens dado; achemos graça nos olhos de meu senhor, e seremos servos de Faraó.
26 José pois pôs isto por estatuto até ao dia de hoje, sobre a terra do Egito, que Faraó tirasse o quinto: só a terra dos sacerdotes não ficou sendo de Faraó.
27 Assim habitou Israel na terra do Egito, na terra de Gósen, e nela tomaram possessão e frutificaram e multiplicaram-se muito.
28 E Jacó viveu na terra do Egito dezessete anos; de sorte que os dias de Jacó, os anos de sua vida, foram cento e quarenta e sete anos.
29 Chegando-se pois o tempo da morte de Israel, chamou a José seu filho, e disse-lhe: Se agora tenho achado graça aos seus olhos, rogo-te que ponhas a tua mão debaixo da minha coxa, e usa comigo de beneficência e verdade; rogo-te que não me enterres no Egito,
30 Mas que eu jaza com meus pais; por isso me levarás do Egito, e me sepultarás na sepultura deles. E ele disse: farei conforme a tua palavra.
31 E disse ele: Jura-me. E ele jurou-lhe; e Israel inclinou-se sobre a cabeceira da cama.
