Deuteronomy 17 The punishment of idolatry

Deuteronomy 17
The punishment of idolatry
1 Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God an ox or small cattle that is defective or evil: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
2 When in the midst of you, in any of your gates which he gives you to the Lord your God, if any man or woman is found to do evil in the sight of the Lord your God through his covenant.
3 Whatever it is, and serve other gods, and bow down to them, or to the sun, or to the moon, or to every army of heaven; which I did not command;
4 And if it be denounced, and you hear it; then shalt thou ask him, and, behold, it being true, and certain, that this abomination was done in Israel;
5 And thou shalt bring the man or woman that did this evil to thy gates, even the man or woman, and stone them with stones, till they die.
6 By the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, he that shall die shall die: by the mouth of one witness shall he not die.
7 The hand of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death. and afterward the hand of all the people: thus shalt thou bring evil from among you.
