Numbers 36
The heirs' marriages
And the heads of the fathers of the generation of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the children of Joseph, came and spake before Moses, and before the rulers of the fathers of the children of Israel.
And they said, The LORD commanded to give this land to my lord by lot for an inheritance to the children of Israel: and it was given unto my lord by the LORD, that the inheritance of our brother Solomon should be given to his daughters.
And they shall marry one of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, and their inheritance shall be diminished from the inheritance of our fathers, and added to the inheritance of the tribe of whomsoever they go: so shall it be taken out of the lot of our inheritance.
And the year of the jubilee of the children of Israel shall come, and their inheritance shall be added unto the inheritance of the tribe of them that are married: and their inheritance shall be taken out of the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
And Moses commanded the children of Israel, according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the children of Joseph speaketh well.
This is the word which Jehovah hath commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them be for wives to whom it seemeth good in their eyes, as long as they marry in the family of the tribe of their father.
And the inheritance of the children of Israel shall go from tribe to tribe: for the children of Israel shall come every man to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
And every daughter that inheriteth any inheritance from the tribes of the children of Israel shall marry one of the generation of the tribe of her father: that the children of Israel may each possess the inheritance of their fathers.
And the inheritance shall not pass from one tribe to another: for the tribes of the children of Israel shall come every man to his inheritance.
As the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad;
For Macla, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah and Noah, the daughters of Selophad, married the sons of their uncles.
Of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph, they were women: so their inheritance was tribe of the family of their father.
These are the commandments and judgments which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho.
