David prays to God to save him from his enemies and to forgive his sins

1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

2 My God, in you I trust; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.

3 Surely those who wait for you will not be put to shame; those who transgress without cause will be put to shame.

4 Make me know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.

5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all the day long.

6 Remember, O Lord, your compassion and your lovingkindness, for they are from everlasting.

7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; but according to your lovingkindness remember me, for your goodness' sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore he will teach sinners in the way.

9 He will guide the meek in judgment, and teach the meek his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth to those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great.

12 Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will teach him in the way he should choose.

13 His soul will dwell in goodness, and his descendants will inherit the land.

14 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear him; and he will make known his covenant to them.

15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Look upon me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are great; deliver me out of my troubles. 18 Look on my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins.

19 Look on my enemies, for they are increasing and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 Keep my soul and deliver me; do not let me be put to shame, for I trust in you.

21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I hope in you.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all their troubles.

1 A ti, Senhor, levanto a minha alma.

2 Deus meu, em ti confio, não me deixes confundido, nem que os meus inimigos triunfem sobre mim.

3 Na verdade, não serão confundidos os que esperam em ti: confundidos serão os que transgridem sem causa.

4 Faze-me saber os teus caminhos, Senhor, ensina-me as tuas veredas.

5 Guia-me na tua verdade, e ensina-me, pois tu és o Deus da minha salvação; por ti estou esperando todo o dia.

6 Lembra-te, Senhor, das tuas misericórdias e das tuas benignidades, porque são desde a eternidade.

7 Não te lembres dos pecados da minha mocidade, nem das minhas transgressões; mas, segundo a tua misericórdia, lembra-te de mim, por tua bondade, Senhor.

8 Bom e reto é o Senhor; pelo que ensinará o caminho aos pecadores.

9 Guiará os mansos retamente: e aos mansos ensinará o seu caminho.

10 Todas as veredas do Senhor são misericórdia e verdade para aqueles que guardam o seu concerto e os seus testemunhos.

11 Por amor do teu nome Senhor, perdoa a minha iniqüidade, pois é grande.

12 Qual é o homem que teme ao Senhor? Ele o ensinará no caminho que deve escolher.

13 A sua alma pousará no bem, e a sua descendência herdará a terra.

14 O segredo do Senhor é para os que o temem; e eles lhes fará saber o seu concerto.

15 Os meus olhos estão continuamente no Senhor, pois ele tirará os meus pés da rede.

16 Olha para mim, e tem piedade de mim, porque estou solitário e aflito.

17 As ânsias do meu coração se têm multiplicado, tira-me dos meus apertos.

18Olha para minha aflição e para a minha dor, e perdoa todos os meus pecados.

19 Olha para os meus inimigos, pois se vão multiplicando e me aborrecem com ódio cruel.

20 Guarda a minha alma, e livra-me; não me deixes confundido, porquanto confio em ti.

21 Guardem-me a sinceridade e a retidão, porquanto espero em ti.

1 The earth is the Lord's, and all that is in it, the world, and those who dwell therein.

2 For he founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers.

3 Who shall ascend the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall enter his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation of them that seek, that seek thy face, O God of Jacob.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; be lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters.

3 He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness, for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The Messiah Suffers, but Triumphs

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from the words of my roaring, and have not helped me?

2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not hear; by night, and I have no rest.

3 But you are holy, inhabiting the praises of Israel.

4 Our fathers trusted in you; they trusted, and you delivered them.

5 To you they cried, and were saved; in you they trusted, and were not put to shame.

6 But I am a worm, and no man, a reproach to men, and despised by the people.

7 All who see me mock me; they stretch out their lips, they shake their heads, saying,

8 He trusted in the Lord; let him deliver him; let him deliver him, for he delights in him.

 9 But you are the one who took me from the womb, who preserved me while I was still at my mother's breasts.

10 I was cast upon you from the womb; you have been my God from my mother's belly.

17 I could count all my bones; they see and look at me.

18 They divide my garments among them, and cast lots for my clothing.

19 But you, O Lord, do not be far from me; my strength, make haste to help me.

20 Deliver my soul from the sword, my darling from the power of the dog.

21 Save me from the mouth of the lion; answer me from the horns of the unicorns.

22 Then I will declare your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.

23 You who fear the Lord, praise him; all you descendants of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all you descendants of Israel.

24 For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, nor has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried, he heard him.

 25 My praise will come from you in the great assembly; I will pay my vows before those who fear him.

26 The meek will eat and be satisfied; those who seek him will praise the Lord; your heart will live forever.

27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all generations will worship before you.

28 For the kingdom belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.

29 All the great ones of the earth will eat and worship, and all who go down to the dust will bow down before him, and those who cannot keep their lives.

30 A seed will serve him; they will speak of the Lord from generation to generation.

31 They will come and declare his righteousness to a people who are born, because he has done it.

22 Então declararei o teu nome aos meus irmãos: louvar-te-ei no meio da congregação.

23 Vós, que temeis ao Senhor, louvai-o; todos vós, descendência de Jacó, glorificai-o; e temei-o todos vós, descendência de Israel.

24 Porque não desprezou nem abominou a aflição do aflito, nem escondeu dele o seu rosto; antes, quando ele clamou, o ouviu.

1 The king rejoices in your strength, O Lord; he greatly rejoices in your salvation.

2 You have given him his heart's desire; you have not withheld the prayer of his lips.

3 For you have filled him with the blessings of goodness; you have set a crown of pure gold on his head.

4 He asked life of you, and you have given it to him, even length of days forever and ever.

5 His glory is great in your salvation; you have clothed him with honor and majesty.

6 For you have blessed him forever; you have filled him with joy with your presence.

7 For the king trusts in the Lord; through the mercy of the Most High he will never be shaken.

8 Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you.

 9 You will make them like a fiery furnace when you reveal yourself; the Lord will devour them in his wrath, and fire will consume them.

10 You will destroy their fruit from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of men.

11 Because they intended evil against you; they devised a plan, but they will not prevail.

12 Therefore you will turn their backs on them; with your arrows on the strings you will aim at their faces.

1 O Rei se alegra em tua força, Senhor; e na tua salvação grandemente se regozija.

2 Cumpriste-lhe o desejo do seu coração, e não desatendeste as súplicas dos seus lábios.

3 Pois o provês das bênçãos de bondade; pões na sua cabeça uma coroa de ouro fino.

4 Vida te pediu, e lha deste, mesmo longura de dias para sempre e eternamente.

5 Grande é a sua glória pela tua salvação; de honra e de majestade o revestiste.

6 Pois o abençoaste para sempre: tu o enches de gozo com a tua face.

7 Porque o rei confia no Senhor, e pela misericórdia do Altíssimo nunca vacilará.

8 A tua mão alcançará todos os teus inimigos, a tua mão direita alcançará aqueles que te aborrecem.

9 Tu os farás como um forno aceso quando te manifestares; o Senhor os devorará na sua indignação, e o fogo os consumirá.

10 Seu fruto destruirás da terra, e a sua descendência dentre os filhos dos homens.

11 Porque intentaram o mal contra ti; maquinaram um ardil, mas não prevalecerão.

12 Portanto tu lhes farás voltar as costas; e com tuas flechas postas nas cordas lhes apontarás ao rosto.

13 Exalta-te, Senhor, na tua força; então cantaremos e louvaremos o teu poder.

8 कुछ लोग झुककर गिर जाते हैं, परन्तु हम उठकर सीधे खड़े हो जाते हैं।

6 Agora sei que o Senhor salva o seu ungido: ele o ouvirá desde o seu santo céu, com a força salvadora da sua destra.

The excellence of creation and its laws, as well as of the word of God

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

2 Day after day they utter speech, and night after night they show wisdom.

3 Their voice is heard without speech or language,

4 Through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,

5 Who is like a bridegroom coming out of his tent, and rejoicing like a mighty man running on his way.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit to the end of them; and nothing can escape his heat.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

11 By them also your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his own errors? Purge me from hidden sins.

13 Keep your servant also from pride, lest it get the upper hand over me; then I will be blameless, and I will be clean from the great transgression.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Deliverer.

A excelência da criação e suas leis, assim como da palavra de Deus

 

1 Os céus manifestam a glória de Deus e o firmamento anuncia a obra das suas mãos.

2 Um dia faz declaração a outro dia, e uma noite mostra sabedoria a outra noite.

3 Sem linguagem, sem fala, ouvem-se as suas vozes,

4 Em toda a extensão da terra, e as suas palavras até ao fim do mundo. Neles pôs uma tenda para o sol,

5 Que é qual noivo que sai do seu tálamo, e se alegra, como um herói, a correr o seu caminho.

6 A sua saída é desde uma extremidade dos céus, e o seu curso até à outra extremidade deles; e nada se furta ao seu calor.

7 A lei do Senhor é perfeita, e refrigera a alma: o testemunho do Senhor é fiel, e dá sabedoria aos símplices.

8 Os preceitos do Senhor são retos, e alegram o coração: o mandamento do Senhor é puro, e alumia os olhos.

9 O temor do Senhor é limpo, e permanece eternamente; os juízos do Senhor são verdadeiros e justos juntamente.

10 Mais desejáveis são do que o ouro, sim do que muito ouro fino; e mais doces do que o mel e o licor dos favos.

11 Também por eles é admoestado o teu servo; e em os guardar há grande recompensa.

12 Quem pode entender os próprios erros? Expurga-me tu dos que me são ocultos.

13 Também da soberba guarda o teu servo, para que se não assenhoreie de mim: então serei sincero, e ficarei limpo de grande transgressão.

14 Sejam agradáveis as palavras da minha boca e a meditação do meu coração perante a tua face, Senhor. Rocha minha e Libertador meu!
