1 Respondeu mais o Senhor a Jó e disse:

2 Porventura o contender contra o Todo-poderoso é ensinar? Quem assim argui a Deus, responda a estas coisas.

3 Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor, e disse:

4 Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? A minha mão ponho na minha boca.

5 Uma vez tenho falado, e não replicarei; ou ainda duas vezes, porém não prosseguirei.

6 Então o Senhor respondeu a Jó desde a tempestade, e disse:

7 Cinge agora os teus lombos como varão; eu te perguntarei a ti, e tu me responderás.

8 Porventura também farás tu vão o meu juízo, ou me condenarás, para te justificares?

9 Ou tens braço como Deus, ou podes trovejar com voz como a sua?

10 Orna-te pois de excelência e alteza; e veste-te de majestade e de glória.

11 Derrama os furores da tua ira, e atenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o.

12 Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropela os ímpios no seu lugar.

13 Esconde-os juntamente no pó; atalhes os rostos em oculto.

14 Então também eu de ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te haverá livrado.

15 Contempla agora o beemote, que eu fiz contigo, que come a erva como o boi.

16 Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder nos músculos do seu ventre.

17 Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro; os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos.

18 Os seus ossos são como tubos de bronze; a sua ossada é como barras de ferro.

1 Do you know the time of the wild goats' young, or the pain of the hinds?

2 Do you count the months they fulfill? Or do you know the time of their birth?

3 They bow down to have their young, and cast away their pain.

4 Their young grow stiff, they grow up with the grain, they go out, and never return to them.

5 Who has sent out the wild donkey free? Or who has loosed the bands of the wild ass?

6 Whose home I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwellings?

7 He laughs at the noise of the city; he does not hear the many cries of the taskmaster.

8 He who searches the mountains is his pasture, and seeks out every green thing.

9 Will the unicorn serve you, or will he remain in your stable? 

10 Will you tie the unicorn to the trench with a rope, or will it break up the valleys after you?

11 Will you trust in him, because his strength is great, or will you leave your work to him?

12 Will you trust in him to bring back to you what you have sown and to gather it into your threshing floor?

13 The ostrich flaps her wings with joy, with the feathers of a stork.

14 She leaves her eggs on the ground and warms them in the dust.

15 She forgets that a foot may crush them, or that the beasts of the field may trample them.

16 She is harsh with her young, as if they were not hers; her labor is in vain, for she is without fear.

17 For God has deprived her of wisdom, and has not given her understanding.

18 She rises up on high in due time; she laughs at the horse and at his rider. 

19 Will you give strength to the horse? Or will you clothe his neck with mane? 

20 Or will you scare him like a locust? The fiery breath of his nostrils is terrible. 

21 He digs in the earth, and rejoices in his strength, and goes out to meet the armed.

 22 He laughs at fear, and is not dismayed, and does not turn back because of the sword. 

23 The quiver rattles against him, the flaming iron of the spear and the javelin.

 24 Shaking himself, and moving, he digs in the earth, and does not heed the sound of the trumpet. 

25 At the sound of the trumpet he says, "Hail!" And he smells war from afar, the thunder of princes, and the noise. 

26 Or does the hawk fly at your understanding, spreading its wings toward the south? 

27 Or does the eagle depart at your command, and make its nest on high?

28 It dwells and lives among the rocks, on the top of the rocks, and in strongholds.

29 From there it searches for its prey; its eyes see it from afar.

30 Its young suck blood; and where the slain are, there it is.

1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

3 Now gird up your loins like a man; and I will demand of you, and answer me.

4 Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.

5 Who has laid its measures, if you know? Or who has stretched the measuring line upon it?

6 On what are its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,

7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8 Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it overflowed and issued from its womb,

9 When I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling cloth?

 10 When I passed my decree upon it, and set up its doors and bars, 

11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, and no further; and here shall thy swelling waves be broken? 

12 Or hast thou commanded the dawn since thy days, or hast thou shown the dawn its place; 

13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? 

14 Everything is changed as clay under a seal, and put on as a garment; 

15 And their light is withheld from the wicked, and the lofty arm is broken. 

16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea, or hast thou walked in the deepest depths? 

17 Or have the gates of death been discovered unto thee, or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

 18 Or hast thou with understanding reached the breadth of the earth? Tell me, if thou knowest all this. 

19 Where is the way where light dwells? And where is the darkness?

20 That you should bring it to its borders, and know the paths of its house?

21 Surely you know, for you were born then, and because the number of your days is great.

22 Or have you entered into the treasures of the snow, or seen the treasures of the hail,

23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?

24 Where is the way where the light is divided, and the east wind is scattered over the earth?

25 Who has made a channel for the flood, and a path for the lightnings of thunder?

38 When the dust is melted into a lump, and the clods cling together?

39 Will you hunt prey for the lioness? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

40 When they crouch in their dens, and lie in wait in the covert?

41 Who provides food for the ravens, When their young cry to God, And wander about because they have no food?

5 God thunders marvelously with his voice; he does great things, which we do not understand.

6 For he says to the snow, "Fall to the earth," as he does to the downpour and its torrential rain.

7 He seals up the hands of every man, that all men may know his work.

8 And the beasts go into their hiding places and stay in their caves.

9 A wind blows from the chambers of the south, and cold from the north.

10 By the breath of God frost is given, and the broad waters are hardened.

11 He also carries away the thick clouds with moisture, and scatters the cloud of his light.

12 Then it spreads itself out according to his wise counsel, that it may do all that he commands it on the face of the inhabited world.

13 Whether for correction, or for his land, or for goodness, let him bring it.

14 Incline your ear to this, O Job; listen, and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 Do you know how God works, and makes his cloud shine?

16 Do you know the balancing of the thick clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?

17 Or how your garments are warm when there is calmness in the south on the earth? 

18 Or did you stretch out with him the heavens, which are firm as a molten mirror?

19 Teach us what we shall say to him, for we cannot set them in order because of the darkness.

20 Will anyone tell him what I have said? Or would a man wish that he were swallowed up?

21 And now the sun cannot be seen, that shines in the heavens; but the wind passes and purifies them,

22 Golden splendor comes from the north; for there is awesome majesty in God.

23 We cannot approach the Almighty; he is great in power, yet he oppresses no one in justice and greatness of righteousness.

1 Elihu continued and said:

2 Wait a little while longer, and I will show you that there are still reasons for God.

3 I will speak my mind from afar, and I will ascribe justice to my Maker.

4 For truly my words will not be false; there is one with you who is upright in his mind.

5 Behold, God is very great, yet he despises no one; he is great in strength of heart.

6 He will not let the wicked live, but he executes justice for the afflicted.

7 He does not take his eyes off the righteous, but he sets them on the throne forever, and they are exalted.

8 And if they are not bound with fetters, and bound with cords of affliction,

9 Then he will make known to them their work, and their transgressions, for they have prevailed in them.

10 He reveals it in their ears for their instruction, and tells them to turn from wickedness.

11 If they listen to him and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure.

12 But if they do not listen, they will be killed by the sword, and they will die without knowledge.

13 And the hypocrites in their hearts treasure up wrath for themselves; and when he binds them, they do not cry for help.

14 They die in their youth, and their lives perish among the sodomites.

15 He delivers the afflicted from their distress, and reveals himself in their ears in oppression.

16 So he will bring you out of trouble into a large place where there is no straitness, and the food of your table will be full of fatness.

17 But you are full of the judgment of the wicked; justice and righteousness sustain you. 

18 For there is wrath, beware lest you be carried away by your own sufficiency, and the great ransom turn away from you.

19 Would he so greatly value your riches, or all the exertions of your strength, that you should not be in distress?

20 Do not long for the night, when the peoples are taken from their place.

21 Beware of turning aside to iniquity, for you have chosen this rather than your misery.

22 Behold, God exalts by his strength; who teaches like him?

23 Who will call him to account for his way? Or who has said to him, 'You have done wrong'?

24 Remember to magnify his work, which men behold.

25 All men see it, and man sees it from afar.

26 Behold, God is great, and we do not comprehend him, and the number of his years cannot be calculated. 

27 For he gathers together the drops of water, which he pours out in rain from his vapor.

10 इसलिये हे समझदार पुरूषो, मेरी बात सुनो! परमेश्वर से दुष्टता को, और सर्वशक्तिमान से अधर्म को दूर रखो।

11 क्योंकि मनुष्य के काम के अनुसार वह उसे फल देगा; और हर एक को अपने अपने मार्ग के अनुसार खोज करने देता है।

12 और सच तो यह है कि परमेश्वर दुष्टता से काम नहीं करता; न ही सर्वशक्तिमान न्याय को बिगाड़ता है।

13 तुम्हें पृथ्वी का शासन किसने दिया है? और सारी दुनिया का निपटारा किसने किया?

14 यदि वह मनुष्य के विरुद्ध अपना मन लगाए, और उसके प्राण और आत्मा को अपने वश में कर ले,

15 सब प्राणी एक साथ नाश हो जायेंगे, और मनुष्य मिट्टी में मिल जायेगा।

16 इसलिये यदि तुम समझ रखते हो, तो यह सुनो; मेरे वचन की ओर कान लगाओ।

17 क्या न्याय से घृणा करने वाले को शासन करना चाहिए? और क्या तुम उस व्यक्ति को दोषी ठहराओगे जो न्यायी और शक्तिशाली है?

18 क्या कोई राजा से कहेगा, हाय! बेलियल? या राजकुमारों से: ओह! दुष्ट?

19 जो मनुष्य हाकिमों का पक्ष नहीं करता, और न धनी को निर्धन से अधिक समझता है, क्योंकि ये सब उसके हाथ के काम हैं।

24 वह बिना पूछे ही बलवानों को तोड़ डालता है, और उनके स्थान पर दूसरों को नियुक्त करता है।

25 क्योंकि वह उनके कामों को जानता है; रात में वह उन्हें उलट देता है, और वे कुचल जाते हैं।

26 वह उनको ऐसे दण्ड देता है, जैसे वे देखने वालों की दृष्टि में दुष्ट हैं;

27 क्योंकि वे उससे दूर हो गए और उसके मार्गों में से कुछ भी नहीं समझा;

28 कि वह कंगालों की दोहाई उसके पास पहुंचाए, और दीन लोगों की दोहाई उस तक पहुंचाए।

29 यदि वह चुप रहे तो कौन बाधा डालेगा? यदि वह अपना मुख छिपा ले, तो उसे कौन देख सकेगा, चाहे वह किसी जाति से हो, चाहे किसी एक मनुष्य से?

30 ताकि कोई पाखण्डी राजा न बने, और लोगों में कोई फंदा न हो।

31 सचमुच जो कोई परमेश्वर से कहे, 'मैंने दुख उठाया है, अब मैं पाप नहीं करूंगा';

32 जो मैं नहीं देखता, वह मुझे सिखा; अगर मैंने कुछ ग़लत किया है तो मैं उसे दोबारा कभी नहीं करूँगा।

33 तुझे प्रतिफल कैसे मिलेगा कि तू उसे तुच्छ जाने? फिर, चुनाव आप करेंगे, मैं नहीं; कौन है जो क्या जानता है? वह बोलता है.

34 समझदार लोग मेरे साथ कहेंगे, और बुद्धिमान मनुष्य जो मेरी बात सुनता है,

Elihu Accuses Job of Speaking Unfairly of God

1 Then Elihu answered and said,

2 Hear my words, you wise men; and, you who have understanding, give ear to me.

3 For the ear tests words as the palate tests food.

4 Let us choose what is right for ourselves; and let us know among ourselves what is good.

5 For Job said, "I am righteous, and God has taken away my right."

6 Despite my right, I am found a liar; my wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.

7 Who is like Job, who drinks mockery like water?

8 Who walks in the company of workers of iniquity, and associates with wicked men?

9 For he said, "It profits a man nothing to delight himself in God." 

10 Therefore, you men of understanding, listen to me. Far be it from God to do wickedness, and from the Almighty to do wickedness! 

11 For according to a man's work he will repay him, and he will cause every man to find according to his way. 

12 And indeed God will not do wickedly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice.

 13 Who has given him the government of the earth? And who has ordained the whole world? 

14 If he should set his heart against man, and should gather to himself his spirit and his breath, 

15 All flesh would perish together, and man would return to the dust. 

16 If there is understanding in you, hear this; incline your ear to the voice of my speech. 

17 Should he who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the just and mighty? 

18 Or will they say to a king, "Oh, Belial!" Or to princes, Oh, the wicked!

19 How much less he who shows no partiality to princes, nor esteems the rich more than the poor, for all are the work of his hands!

20 In a moment they die; and at midnight the people are troubled and pass away, and the mighty are taken without hand.

21 For his eyes are on the ways of every man, and he sees all his steps.

22 There is no darkness nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity hide.

23 For a man does not need much consideration to bring him to judgment before God.

24 He breaks down the mighty, without inquiry, and sets others in their place.

25 For he knows their works; in the night he overthrows them, and they are crushed.

26 He strikes them as the wicked in the sight of him who sees them; 

27 Because they have turned away from him, and have not understood any of his ways; 

28 That he might cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and that he might hear the cry of the afflicted.

 29 If he be silent, who then can disturb? If he hide his face, who then can behold him, whether it be for a people, or for one man? 

30 That the hypocrite may never reign, and there be no snare in the people. 

31 Surely he who said to God, "I have suffered, I will sin no more"; 

32 What I do not see, teach me; if I have done anything wicked, I will do it no more. 

33 How shall my recompense come from you, that you should despise it? Therefore, you, and not I, choose; who then is he that knoweth? Speak. 

34 Men of understanding will say with me, and the wise man that heareth me, 

35 Job spoke without knowledge; and his words lack prudence.

36 My father, let Job be tested to the end by his answers, like those of evil men.

37 For he adds transgression to his sin; he claps his hands among us and multiplies his arguments against God.

1 Respondeu mais Eliú, e disse:

2 Ouvi, vós, sábios, as minhas razões; e vós, entendidos, inclinai os ouvidos para mim.

3 Porque o ouvido prova as palavras como o paladar prova a comida.

4 O que é direito escolhamos para nós; e conheçamos entre nós o que é bom.

5 Porque Jó disse: Sou justo, e Deus tirou o meu direito.

6 Apesar do meu direito, sou considerado mentiroso; a minha ferida é incurável, embora eu esteja sem transgressão.

7 Que homem há como Jó, que bebe a zombaria como água?

8 E caminha em companhia dos que obram a iniqüidade, e anda com homens ímpios?

9 Porque disse: De nada aproveita ao homem o comprazer-se em Deus.

10 Pelo que vós, homens de entendimento, escutai-me longe de Deus a impiedade, e do Todo-poderoso a perversidade!

11 Porque, segundo a obra do homem, ele lhe paga; e faz que cada um ache segundo o seu caminho.

12 Também, na verdade, Deus não procede impiamente; nem o Todo-poderoso perverte o juízo.

13 Quem lhe entregou o governo da terra? E quem dispôs a todo o mundo?

14 Se ele pusesse o seu coração contra o homem, e recolhesse para si o seu espírito e o seu fôlego,

15 Toda a carne juntamente expiraria, e o homem voltaria para o pó.

16 Se pois há em ti entendimento, ouve isto; inclina os ouvidos à voz do meu discurso.

17 Porventura o que aborrece o direito governaria? E quererás tu condenar aquele que é justo e poderoso?

18 Ou dir-se-á a um rei: Oh! Belial? Ou aos príncipes: Oh! Ímpios?

19 Quanto menos aquele, que não faz acepção das pessoas de príncipes, nem estima o rico mais do que o pobre; porque todos são obra de suas mãos.

20 Eles num momento morrem; e até à meia-noite os povos são perturbados, e passam, e os poderosos são tomados sem mão.

21 Porque os seus olhos estão sobre os caminhos de cada um, e ele vê todos os seus passos.

22 Não há trevas nem sombra de morte, onde se escondam os que obram a iniqüidade.

23 Porque não precisa considerar muito o homem para o fazer ir a juízo diante de Deus.

24 Quebranta os fortes, sem que se possa inquirir, e põe outros em seu lugar.

25 Ele conhece pois as suas obras; de noite os transtorna, e ficam moídos.

26 Ele bate-lhes como ímpios que são à vista de quem os contempla;

27 Porquanto se desviaram dele, e não compreenderam nenhum de seus caminhos;

28 Para fazer que o clamor do pobre subisse até ele, e que ouvisse o clamor dos aflitos.

29 Se ele aquietar, quem então inquietará? Se encobrir o rosto, quem então o poderá contemplar, seja para com um povo, seja para com um homem só?

30 Para que o homem hipócrita nunca reine, e não haja laços no povo.

31 Na verdade, quem disse a Deus: Sofri, não pecarei mais;

32 O que não vejo, ensina-mo tu; se fiz alguma maldade, nunca mais a hei de fazer.

33 Virá de ti como há de ser a recompensa, para que tu a desprezes? Faze tu pois, e não eu, a escolha; quem é logo o que saber? Fala.

34 Os homens de entendimento dirão comigo, e o varão sábio que me ouvir:

35 Jó falou sem ciência; e às suas palavras falta prudência.

36 Pai meu! Provado seja Jó até ao fim, pelas suas respostas próprias de homens malignos.

37 Porque ao seu pecado acrescenta a transgressão; entre nós bate as palmas, e multiplica contra Deus as suas razões.

1 हे अय्यूब, मेरी बात सुन, और मेरे सब वचनों पर कान लगा।

2 देख, मैं ने अपना मुंह खोल दिया है; पहले से ही मेरे तालू के नीचे मेरी जीभ बोली।

3 मेरे वचन मेरे हृदय की सच्चाई से निकलेंगे, और मेरे होठों से शुद्ध ज्ञान निकलेगा।

4 परमेश्वर की आत्मा ने मुझे बनाया, और सर्वशक्तिमान की प्रेरणा ने मुझे जीवन दिया।

5 यदि आप कर सकते हैं, तो मुझे उत्तर दें, अपना मामला स्पष्ट रूप से बताएं, और खड़े हो जाएं।

6 देख, मैं भी तेरे समान परमेश्वर के पास से आया हूँ; मैं भी मिट्टी से बना हूँ।

17 मनुष्य को उसके उद्देश्य से दूर करो, और मनुष्य से घमण्ड छिपाओ;

18 ताकि वह अपने प्राण को गड़हे में जाने से बचाए, और अपने प्राण को तलवार से मरने से बचाए।

19 वह अपने बिस्तर पर पीड़ा से दण्डित है, और उसकी हड्डियाँ लगातार संघर्ष कर रही हैं;

20 यहां तक ​​कि उसका प्राण रोटी से, और उसका मन स्वादिष्ट भोजन से घृणा करने लगता है।

21 उसका मांस हमारी आँखों के सामने गायब हो गया है, और उसकी हड्डियाँ, जो दिखाई नहीं देती थीं, अब दिखाई देती हैं;

23 यदि उसके पास कोई दूत हो, अर्थात हज़ारों में से एक ही अनुवाद करनेवाला हो, जो मनुष्य को उसका धर्म बताए,

24 तब वह उस पर दया करके उस से कहेगा, कि उसे गड़हे में जाने से बचा; मुझे पहले ही बचाव मिल चुका है।

25 उसका शरीर उसकी जवानी से अधिक कोमल हो जाएगा, और वह अपनी जवानी के दिन फिर पा लेगा।

26 वह परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करेगा, और वह उससे प्रसन्न होगा, और आनन्द से उसका मुख देखेगा, और मनुष्य को उसका धर्म फेर देगा।

27 वह मनुष्यों को देखकर कहेगा, 'मैंने पाप किया है और न्याय को बिगाड़ा है, और इससे मुझे कोई लाभ नहीं हुआ।'

28 परन्तु परमेश्वर ने मेरे प्राण को अधोलोक में जाने से बचाया; और मेरा जीवन प्रकाश देखेगा।

29 देखो, यह सब परमेश्वर का कार्य है, जो मनुष्य के साथ दो बार और तीन बार हुआ है।

30 कि उसके प्राण को नाश से बचाए, और उसे जीवतों की ज्योति से प्रकाशित करे।

31 अब हे अय्यूब, ध्यान से मेरी बात सुन; चुप रहो, मैं बोलूंगा।

32 यदि तुम्हें कुछ कहना हो तो मुझे उत्तर दो; बोलो, क्योंकि मैं तुम्हें निर्दोष ठहराना चाहता हूँ।
