9 योआब के वंश में से; यीएल का पुत्र ओबद्याह, जिसके संग दो सौ अठारह पुरुष थे;

10 और शलोमीत के वंश में से योसिय्याह का पुत्र, जिसके संग एक सौ साठ पुरुष थे;

11 और बेबय के वंश में से बेबय का पुत्र जकर्याह, जिसके संग अट्ठाईस पुरुष थे।

12 और अजगाद के वंश में से हक्कातान का पुत्र योहानान, जिसके संग एक सौ दस पुरुष थे।

13 और अदोनियून के पुत्रों में से जो पीछे चले गए, उनके नाम ये थे, अर्थात एलीपेलेत, यीएल और शमायाह, और उनके संग साठ पुरुष थे;

27 और हज़ार दर्क्मो के बीस सोने के कटोरे, और सोने के समान चमकनेवाले, सुन्दर पीतल के दो पात्र।

28 और उसने उनसे कहा, तुम यहोवा के लिये पवित्र हो, और ये पात्र पवित्र हैं, और यह चांदी और सोना तुम्हारे पूर्वजों के परमेश्वर यहोवा के लिये स्वेच्छाबलि है।

32 फिर हम यरूशलेम को आए और वहां तीन दिन तक रहे।

33 चौथे दिन वह चान्दी, सोना और पात्र हमारे परमेश्वर के भवन में ऊरिय्याह याजक के पुत्र मरेमोत के हाथ से तौला गया; और उसके संग पीनहास का पुत्र एलीआजर, और उनके संग येशू का पुत्र योजाबाद, और बिन्नूई का पुत्र नोअद्याह नाम लेवीय थे।

1 Now these are the heads of their fathers' houses, by their genealogies, who came up with me from Babylon in the reign of Artaxerxes the king:

2 Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershon; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Hattush;

3 Of the sons of Shecaniah and of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him by genealogies were numbered one hundred and fifty men;

4 Of the sons of Pahath-moab, Elioenai the son of Zerachiah, and with him two hundred men;

5 Of the sons of Shecaniah, the son of Jehaziel, and with him three hundred men;

6 And of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty men;

7 And of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy men;

8 Of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him eighty men;

9 Of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jeiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen men;

10 Of the sons of Shelomith the son of Josiphiah, and with him one hundred and sixty men;

11 Of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight men;

12 Of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him one hundred and ten men;

13 Of the last sons of Adonikion, whose names were Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty men;

14 Of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabud, and with them seventy men;

15 And I gathered them together by the river that goeth to Ahava, and we camped there three days: then I looked among the people and among the priests, and I found none of the sons of Levi there.

16 So I sent Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Renathan, Nethan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, the leaders, and Joiarib and Elnathan, who were wise men.

17 And I sent them to Iddo the leader in the place of Casiphiah, and I put words in their mouths to tell Iddo his brother and the Nethinim in the place of Casiphiah to bring us ministers for the house of our God.

18 And they brought us, according to the good hand of God upon us, a man of understanding from the sons of Mahli the son of Levi, the son of Israel, Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; 

19 Hashabiah and Jeshaiah with him, of the sons of Merari, with his brothers and their sons, twenty; 

20 and of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had given to minister to the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims, all of whom were recorded by name. 

21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the River Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him a straight road for us, our children, and all our goods. 

22 For I was ashamed to ask the king for an army and horsemen to defend us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, "The hand of our God is for good upon all who seek Him, but His power and His wrath upon all who forsake Him." 

23 So we fasted and petitioned our God for this, and He granted our prayers. 

24 Then I set apart twelve of the chief priests: Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and with them ten of their brothers.

 25 I weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the vessels, which were the offering for the house of our God, which the king and his counselors, his princes, and all Israel who were present there had offered. 

26 I weighed into their hands six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and in silver vessels a hundred talents of silver and a hundred talents of gold. 

27 And twenty gold bowls, weighing a thousand drachmas, and two vessels of fine bright metal, as desirable as gold. 

28 And I said to them, "You are consecrated to the Lord, and these vessels are holy, as is the silver and the gold, a freewill offering to the Lord God of your fathers. 

29 Therefore watch and guard them until you weigh them in the presence of the chief of the priests and the Levites and the princes of the fathers' houses of Israel in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of our God. 

30 Then the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver, the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem, to the house of our God. 

31 Then we set out from the River Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of our enemies and from those who lay in wait for us on the way. 

32 So we came to Jerusalem and stayed there three days. 

33 On the fourth day the silver, the gold, and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest. and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas, and with them Jozabad the son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites; 

34 According to the number and according to the weight of all, and all the weight was described at the same time. 

35 And the captives who had been carried away from the captivity offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats for a sin offering; all as a burnt offering to the Lord. 

36 Then they gave the king's orders to the king's satraps and to the governors beyond the River, and they helped the people and the house of God.

18 E trouxeram-nos, segundo a boa mão de Deus sobre nós, um homem entendido, dos filhos de Maeli, filho de Levi, filho de Israel, a saber: Serebias, com os seus filhos e irmãos, dezoito;

19 E a Hasabias, e com ele Jesaías, dos filhos de Merari, com seus irmãos e os filhos deles, vinte;

23 Nós pois jejuamos, e pedimos isto ao nosso Deus, e moveu-se pelas nossas orações.

24  Então separei doze dos maiorais dos sacerdotes: Serebias, Hasabias, e com eles dez dos seus irmãos;

25 E pesei-lhes a prata, e o ouro, e os vasos, que era a oferta para a casa de Nosso Deus, a qual ofereceram o rei e os seus conselheiros, e os seus príncipes, e todo o Israel que ali se achou.

26 E pesei em suas mãos seiscentos e cinqüenta talentos de prata, e em vasos de prata cem talentos de prata, e cem talentos de ouro.

27 E vinte taças de ouro, de mil dracmas, e dois vasos de bom metal lustroso, tão desejável como ouro.

28 E disse-lhes: Consagrados sois do Senhor, e sagrados são estes vasos, como também esta prata e este ouro, oferta voluntária, oferecida ao Senhor Deus de vossos pais;

29 Vigiai pois e guardai-os até que os peseis na presença dos maiorais dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, e dos príncipes dos pais de Israel, em Jerusalém, nas câmaras da casa de nosso Deus.

30 Então receberam os sacerdotes e os levitas o peso de prata, e do ouro, e dos vasos, para trazerem a Jerusalém, à casa de nosso Deus.

31 E partimos do rio de Aava, no dia doze do primeiro mês, para irmos para Jerusalém: e a mão do nosso Deus estava sobre nós e livrou-nos da mão dos inimigos, e dos que nos armavam ciladas no caminho.

32 E viemos a Jerusalém, e repousamos ali três dias.

33 No dia quarto se pesou a prata e o ouro, e os vasos, na casa do nosso Deus, por mão de Meremote, filho do sacerdote Urias; e com ele estava Eleazar, filho de Finéias, e com eles Jozabade, filho de Jesua, e Noadias, filho de Binuí, levitas;

34 Conforme ao número e conforme ao peso de tudo aquilo; e todo o peso se descreveu no mesmo tempo.

2 शल्लूम का पुत्र। सादोक का पुत्र, अहीतूब का पुत्र,

3 वह अमर्याह का पुत्र था, यह अजर्याह का पुत्र था, यह मरायोत का पुत्र था।

4 वह जर्कयाह का पुत्र था, यह जर्कयाह का पुत्र था, यह जर्कयाह का पुत्र था, यह जर्कयाह का पुत्र था।

11 यह उस पत्र की प्रतिलिपि है जिसे राजा अर्तक्षत्र ने एज्रा याजक को दिया था, जो यहोवा की आज्ञाओं और इस्राएल के विषय में उसकी विधियों के वचनों का लेखक था।

12 राजाओं के राजा अर्तक्षत्र की ओर से एज्रा याजक, स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के शास्त्री, पूर्ण शान्ति आदि।

13 मैं यह आज्ञा देता हूँ कि इस्राएल के सभी लोग, उनके याजक और लेवीय, जो तुम्हारे साथ यरूशलेम जाना चाहते हैं, मेरे राज्य में जा सकते हैं।

14 क्योंकि तुझे राजा और उसके सातों मन्त्रियों ने इसलिये भेजा है, कि अपने परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के अनुसार जो तेरे हाथ में है, यहूदा और यरूशलेम में पूछताछ कर।

15 और जो चांदी और सोना राजा और उसके मंत्रियों ने स्वेच्छा से इस्राएल के परमेश्वर को दिया है, जिसका निवास यरूशलेम में है, उसे ले जाओ;

16 और जितना चान्दी-सोना बाबुल के सारे प्रान्त में मिलेगा, और जो भेंटें लोगों और याजकों ने अपनी अपनी इच्छा से यरूशलेम में अपने परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये दीं हैं, उन सभों को भी ले आ।

17 इसलिये तुम उस रूपये से बैल, मेढ़े, और भेड़ के बच्चे, और उनके अन्नबलि और अर्घ मोल लेकर यरूशलेम में अपने परमेश्वर के भवन की वेदी पर चढ़ाना।

18 और जो कुछ तुझे और तेरे भाइयों को अच्छा लगे, उसी से तेरा परमेश्वर अपनी इच्छा पूरी करे।

19 और जो पात्र तेरे परमेश्वर के भवन की सेवकाई के लिये तुझे दिए गए थे, उन्हें यरूशलेम के परमेश्वर के साम्हने लौटा दे।

20 और जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये आवश्यक हो, और जो कुछ तुझे देने का अवसर हो, उसे राजकोष में से देना।

21 और मैं, हे राजा अर्तक्षत्र, महानद के पार रहने वाले सब खजांचियों को अपनी यह आज्ञा देता हूं, कि जो कुछ एज्रा याजक, जो स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का लेखक है, तुम से मांगे, वह तुरन्त किया जाए।

22 सौ किक्कार चान्दी, सौ सेर गेहूँ, सौ बत दाखमधु, और सौ बत तेल; और अनगिनत नमक.

23 जो कुछ स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की ओर से आज्ञा हो, वह स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये तुरन्त पूरी की जाए; क्योंकि राजा और उसके पुत्रों के राज्य पर बड़ा क्रोध क्यों भड़कने पाए?

24 हम तुम्हें इस परमेश्वर के भवन के सब याजकों, लेवियों, गवैयों, द्वारपालों, नतीनों और सेवकों के विषय में भी सूचित करते हैं, कि उन से कोई चुंगी, कर या कर न लिया जाए।

25 और हे एज्रा, तू अपने परमेश्वर की बुद्धि के अनुसार जो तेरे हाथ में है, ऐसे हाकिम और न्यायी ठहरा जो महानद के पार रहने वाले सब लोगों का न्याय करें, अर्थात जितने तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था जानते हैं उन को भी उसका ज्ञान कराएँ।

26 और जो कोई तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था और राजा की व्यवस्था को न माने, उसका न्याय तुरन्त किया जाए, चाहे वह मृत्युदंड हो, या देश निकाला, या उसकी सम्पत्ति पर जुर्माना या कारावास हो।

27 धन्य है हमारे पूर्वजों का परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिस ने राजा के मन में यह बात डाली है, कि यरूशलेम में यहोवा के भवन को सुन्दर बनाया जाए।

Artaxerxes sends Ezra to Jerusalem to proclaim the edict in favor of the Jews

1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 the son of Zerachiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the high priest,

6 This Ezra went up from Babylon, and was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, given by the Lord God of Israel; and the king granted him all that he requested, according to the hand of the Lord his God that was upon him.

7 Some of the Israelites, including the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. 

8 In the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, which was the seventh year of the king.

 9 For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 

10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do and to teach in Israel his statutes and ordinances. 

11 This is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord and of his statutes concerning Israel. 

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, etc.

 13 I decree that all those in my kingdom who are willing to go with you to Jerusalem from the people of Israel, including their priests and Levites, must go.

14 For you have been sent by the king and his seven counselors to search Judah and Jerusalem according to the law of your God, which is in your hand.

15 And to take the silver and gold that the king and his counselors have freely given to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem.

16 And all the silver and gold that you can find in the whole province of Babylon, with the freewill offerings of the people and the priests who have willingly offered for the house of their God in Jerusalem.

17 Therefore you shall buy with this money bulls, rams, and lambs, with their grain offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them on the altar of the house of your God in Jerusalem. 18 And whatever seems good to you and your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and gold, you shall do according to the will of your God.

19 And the vessels that were given you for the service of the house of your God, you shall restore before the God of Jerusalem.

20 And whatever else is necessary for the house of your God, which you may find it convenient to give, you shall give from the king's treasury.

21 And by myself, King Artaxerxes, I make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, be done quickly:

22 Up to a hundred talents of silver, and up to a hundred measures of wheat, and up to a hundred baths of wine, and up to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without measure. 

23 Whatever is ordered by the command of the God of heaven, let it be done quickly for the house of the God of heaven, for why should there be great wrath on the kingdom of the king and his sons?

24 We also inform you concerning all the priests and Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinims, and ministers of this house of God, that no duty, tribute, or revenue may be imposed on them.

25 And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which is in your hand, appoint rulers and judges who will judge all the people who are beyond the River, all those who know the laws of your God, and you shall make known to those who do not know them.

26 And whoever does not keep the law of your God and the law of the king, let justice be done to him quickly, whether it be death, banishment, a fine on his property, or imprisonment. 

27 Blessed be the Lord, the God of our fathers, who put this in the king's heart to beautify the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, 

28 and who extended kindness to me in the sight of the king and his counselors and all the king's mighty princes. So I took courage, according to the hand of the Lord on me, and gathered together leaders from Israel to go up with me.

1 E passadas estas coisas, no reinado de Artaxerxes, rei da Pérsia, Esdras, filho de Seraías, filho de Azarias, filho de Hilquias,

2 Filho de Salum. Filho de Zadoque, filho de Aitube,

3 Filho de Amarias, filho de Azarias, filho de Meraiote,

4 Filho de Zeraquias, filho de Uzi, filho de Buqui,

5 Filho de Abisua, filho de Finéias, filho de Eleazar, filho de Aarão, o sumo sacerdote,

6 Este Esdras subiu de Babilônia: e era escriba hábil na lei de Moisés, dada pelo Senhor Deus de Israel; e, segundo a mão do Senhor seu Deus, que estava sobre ele, o rei lhe deu tudo quanto lhe pedira.

7 Também subiram a Jerusalém alguns dos filhos de Israel, e dos sacerdotes, e dos levitas, e dos cantores, e dos porteiros, e dos netineus, no ano sétimo do rei Artaxerxes.

8 E no mês quinto veio ele a Jerusalém; e era o sétimo ano deste rei.

9 Porque o primeiro dia do primeiro mês foi o princípio da sua subida de Babilônia; e no primeiro dia do quinto mês chegou a Jerusalém, segundo a boa mão do seu Deus sobre ele.

10 Porque Esdras tinha preparado o seu coração para buscar a lei do Senhor e para cumprir e para ensinar em Israel os seus estatutos e os seus direitos.

11 Esta é pois a cópia da carta que o rei Artaxerxes deu ao sacerdote Esdras, o escriba das palavras dos mandamentos do Senhor, e dos seus estatutos sobre Israel.

12 Artaxerxes, rei dos reis, ao sacerdote Esdras, escriba da lei do Deus do céu, paz perfeita, etc.

13 Por mim se decreta que no meu reino todo aquele do povo de Israel, e dos seus sacerdotes e levitas, que quiser ir contigo a Jerusalém, vá.

14 Porquanto da parte do rei e dos seus sete conselheiros és mandado, para fazeres inquirição em Judá e em Jerusalém, conforme à lei do teu Deus, que está na tua mão;

15 E para levares a prata e o ouro que o rei e os seus conselheiros voluntariamente deram ao Deus de Israel, cuja habitação está em Jerusalém;

16 E toda a prata e o ouro que achares em toda a província de Babilônia, com as ofertas voluntárias do povo e dos sacerdotes, que voluntariamente ofereceram, para a casa de seu Deus, que está em Jerusalém.

17 Portanto comprarás com este dinheiro novilhos, carneiros, cordeiros, com as suas ofertas de manjares, e as suas libações, e oferece-as sobre o altar da casa de vosso Deus, que está em Jerusalém.

18 Também o que a ti e a teus irmãos bem parecer fazerdes do resto da prata e do ouro, o fareis conforme à vontade de vosso Deus.

19 E os vasos que te foram dados para o serviço da casa de teu Deus, restitue-os perante o Deus de Jerusalém.

20 E o resto do que for necessário para a casa de teu Deus, que te convenha dar, o darás da casa dos tesouros do rei,

21 E por mim mesmo, o rei Artaxerxes, se decreta a todos os tesoureiros que estão dalém do rio que tudo quanto vos pedir o sacerdote Esdras, escriba da lei do Deus dos céus, apressuradamente se faça.

22 Até cem talentos de prata, e até cem coros de trigo, e até cem batos de vinho, e até cem batos de azeite; e sal sem conta.

23 Tudo quanto se ordenar, segundo o mandado do Deus do céu, prontamente se faça para a casa do Deus do céu, porque, para que haveria grande ira sobre o reino do rei e de seus filhos?

24 Também vos fazemos saber acerca de todos os sacerdotes e levitas, cantores, porteiros, netineus, e ministros desta casa de Deus, que se lhes não possa impor, nem direito, nem antigo tributo, nem renda.

25 E tu, Esdras, conforme à sabedoria do teu Deus, que está na tua mão, põe regedores e juízes, que julgam a todo o povo que está dalém do rio, a todos os que sabem as leis de teu Deus, e ao que as não sabe as fareis saber.

26 E todo aquele que não observar a lei do teu Deus e a lei do rei, logo se faça justiça dele: quer seja morte, quer degredo, quer multa sobre os seus bens, quer prisão.

27 Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de nossos pais, que tal inspirou o coração do rei, para ornarmos a casa do Senhor, que está em Jerusalém:

28 E que estendeu para mim a sua beneficência perante o rei e os seus conselheiros e todos os príncipes poderosos do rei. Assim me esforcei, segundo a mão do Senhor sobre mim, e ajuntei dentre Israel alguns chefes para subirem comigo.

14 और यहूदियों के पुरनियों ने हाग्गै नबी और इद्दो के पुत्र जकर्याह की भविष्यद्वाणी के द्वारा उसे बनाया और तरक्की की। और उन्होंने फारस के राजा कुस्रू, दारा और अर्तक्षत्र की आज्ञा के अनुसार भवन बनाकर पूरा कर दिया।

15 और यह भवन अदार महीने के तीसरे दिन बनकर तैयार हुआ, जो राजा दारा के राज्य का छठा वर्ष था।

16 और इस्राएलियों, याजकों, लेवियों और बन्धुआई से आए हुए शेष लोगों ने परमेश्वर के उस भवन की प्रतिष्ठा आनन्द के साथ की।

17 और उन्होंने परमेश्वर के उस भवन के अभिषेक के लिये इस्राएल के गोत्रों की गिनती के अनुसार, सारे इस्राएल के लिये एक सौ बैल, दो सौ मेढ़े, चार सौ भेड़ के बच्चे, और बारह बकरे पापबलि के लिये चढ़ाए।

18 और उन्होंने याजकों को उनके दल में, और लेवियों को उनके दल में नियुक्त किया, कि वे परमेश्वर की उस सेवा के लिये जो यरूशलेम में है, मूसा की पुस्तक के लिखे हुए के अनुसार करें।

19 और जो लोग बन्धुआई से छूटकर आए थे उन्होंने पहिले महीने के चौदहवें दिन को फसह मनाया।

13 Then Tatnai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharboznai, and their companions did so in haste, according to the decree of King Darius.

14 And the elders of the Jews were building and prospering through the prophecy of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo; and they built the house and finished it according to the command of Cyrus and Darius and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15 And the house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.

16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the exile, dedicated this house of God with joy.

17 And they offered for the dedication of this house of God one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and twelve kids of the goats, for a sin offering for all Israel, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18 And they set the priests in their courses, and the Levites in their divisions, for the ministry of God which is in Jerusalem, according to the writing in the book of Moses.

19 And those who had come out of the captivity kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

20 For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves as one man, and were all clean; and they killed the Passover lamb for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21 So the children of Israel who had come out of the captivity ate the Passover, with all who separated themselves with them from the uncleanness of the people of the land, to seek the Lord, the God of Israel. 

22 And they kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy, because the Lord had made them glad and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

14 E os anciãos dos judeus iam edificando e prosperando pela profecia do profeta Ageu, e de Zacarias, filho de Ido; e edificaram a casa e a aperfeiçoaram conforme ao mandado de Ciro e de Dario, e de Artaxerxes, rei da Pérsia.

15 E acabou-se esta casa no dia terceiro do mês de Adar, que era o sexto ano do reinado do rei Dario.

16 E os filhos de Israel, os sacerdotes, e os levitas, e o resto dos filhos do cativeiro, fizeram a consagração desta casa de Deus com alegria.

17 E ofereceram para a consagração desta casa de Deus cem novilhos, duzentos carneiros, quatrocentos cordeiros, e doze cabritos por expiação do pecado de todo o Israel, segundo o número das tribos de Israel.

18 E puseram os sacerdotes nas suas turmas e os levitas nas suas divisões, para o ministério de Deus, que está em Jerusalém; conforme ao escrito do livro de Moisés.

19 E os que vieram do cativeiro celebraram a páscoa no dia catorze do primeiro mês;

20 Porque os sacerdotes e levitas se tinham purificado como se fossem um só homem, e todos estavam limpos; e mataram o cordeiro da páscoa para todos os filhos do cativeiro, e para seus irmãos, os sacerdotes, e para si mesmos.

21 Assim comeram a páscoa os filhos de Israel que tinham voltado do cativeiro, com todos os que a eles se apartavam da imundícia das gentes da terra, para buscarem o Senhor, Deus de Israel;

22 E celebraram a festa dos pães asmos os sete dias com alegria, porque o Senhor os tinha alegrado e tinha mudado o coração do rei da Assíria a favor deles, para lhes fortalecer as mãos na obra da casa de Deus, o Deus de Israel.

2 और मेदा प्रान्त के अख्मेता राजगढ़ में एक पुस्तक मिली, और उसमें एक स्मरण पुस्तक लिखी थी, जिसमें यह लिखा था:

3 राजा कुस्रू के पहले वर्ष में राजा कुस्रू ने यह आज्ञा दी, कि यरूशलेम में परमेश्वर के भवन के विषय में यह भवन बलि चढ़ाने के स्थान के लिये बनाया जाए, और इसकी नींव दृढ़ हो, और इसकी ऊंचाई साठ हाथ और चौड़ाई साठ हाथ की हो।

6 इसलिये अब महानद के पार के अधिपति तत्तनै और महानद के पार रहने वाले शतर्बोजनै और उनके साथी अफार्साकी लोग वहां से चले जाएं।

7 उन्हें परमेश्वर के इस भवन पर काम करने दो, ताकि यहूदियों और यहूदियों का शासक इसके स्थान पर परमेश्वर का यह भवन बनाए।

King Darius Confirms the Order to Build the Temple

1 Then King Darius gave orders, and they searched the storehouse where the treasures were stored in Babylon.

2 And at Achmetha, in the palace, which is in the province of Media, a scroll was found, and in it a memorial was written, which read as follows:

3 In the first year of King Cyrus, King Cyrus gave this order: Concerning the house of God in Jerusalem, this house shall be built as a place for offering sacrifices; and its foundations shall be firm, its height sixty cubits, and its width sixty cubits.

4 With three courses of large stones, and one course of new timber: and the expense shall be paid for the king's house.

5 Moreover, the gold and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar carried away from the temple that was in Jerusalem and carried to Babylon, shall be given back to them, that they may go to their place, to the temple that is in Jerusalem, and they shall bring them to the house of God.

 6 Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the River, and Shetharboznai, and their companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the River, depart from there. 

7 Leave them to work on this house of God, so that the governor of the Jews and the Jews may build this house of God in its place. 

8 I also decree what you shall do to the elders of the Jews, to build this house of God: that the expense be paid promptly to these men out of the king's wealth from the taxes beyond the River, so that they will not be hindered. 

9 And whatever is needed, such as bulls, rams, and lambs, for a burnt offering to the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the ordinance of the priests who are in Jerusalem; let it be given to them daily, that there be no shortage; 

10 that they may offer sacrifices of a sweet aroma to the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king and his sons. 

11 And I decree that whoever changes this decree, a tree shall be pulled out of his house, and he shall be lifted up and hanged on it, and his house shall be made a dunghill for this. 

12 Therefore may the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all the kings and peoples who stretch out their hand to change it and to destroy this house of God which is in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have given the decree; let it be carried out quickly.

3 No ano primeiro do rei Ciro, o rei Ciro deu esta ordem: Com respeito à casa de Deus em Jerusalém, esta casa se edificará para lugar em que se ofereçam sacrifícios, e seus fundamentos serão firmes, a sua altura de sessenta côvados, e a sua largura de sessenta côvados.

4 Com três carreiras de grandes pedras, e uma carreira de madeira nova: e a despesa se fará da casa do rei.

5 Demais disto, os vasos de ouro e de prata da casa de Deus, que Nabucodonosor transportou do templo que estava em Jerusalém, e levou para Babilônia, se tornarão a dar, para que vão ao seu lugar, ao templo que está em Jerusalém, e os levarão à casa de Deus.

6 Agora, pois, Tatenai, governador de além do rio, Setarboznai, e os seus companheiros, os afarsaquitas, que estais de além do rio, apartai-vos dali.

7 Deixai-os na obra desta casa de Deus: para que o governador dos judeus e os judeus edifiquem esta casa de Deus no seu lugar.

11 Também por mim se decreta que todo homem que mudar este decreto, um madeiro se arrancará da sua casa e, levantando, o pendurarão nele, e da sua casa se fará por isso um monturo.

Haggai and Zechariah exhort the Jews to continue building the temple

1 Now Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem; they prophesied to them in the name of the God of Israel.

2 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and with them the prophets of God who helped them.

3 At that time came to them Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharboznai, and their companions, and said to them, "Who gave you orders to build this house and to restore this wall?"

4 Then they said to them, "And what are the names of the men who built this building?" 

5 But the eye of God was upon the elders of the Jews, and they did not hinder them, until the matter came to Darius, and then they answered him by letter concerning it. 

6 A copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, with Shetharboznai and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to King Darius. 

7 They sent him a report; and it was written in it: All peace to King Darius.

 8 Let it be known to the king that we went to the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and the timber is being laid upon the walls; and the work is done hastily and is progressing in their hands. 

9 Then we inquired of the elders, and said to them thus: Who gave you orders to build this house, and to restore this wall? 

10 Moreover, we asked them their names, that we might tell you, that we might write down for you the names of the men who were chief among them.

11 And they gave us answers, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we have rebuilt the house that was built many years ago; for a great king of Israel built it and finished it.

12 But after our fathers provoked the God of heaven to anger, he delivered them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon the Chaldean, who destroyed this house and carried its people away to Babylon.

13 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, King Cyrus gave orders to build this house of God. 

14 And even the vessels of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, and they were given to a man named Sheshbazzar, whom he appointed governor. 

15 And he said to him, Take these vessels, and go, and carry them to the temple that is in Jerusalem, and have the house of God built in its place. 

16 Then the said Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God that is in Jerusalem; and from that time onward it has been building, and it is not yet finished. 

17 Now therefore, if it please the king, let search be made in the king's treasury that is in Babylon, whether there is a commandment from King Cyrus to build this house of God in Jerusalem; and let the king make known to us his will concerning this matter.

1 E Ageu, profeta, e Zacarias, filho de Ido, profetas, profetizaram aos judeus que estavam em Judá e em Jerusalém; em nome do Deus de Israel lhes profetizaram.

2 Então se levantaram Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e Jesua, filho de Josadaque e começaram a edificar a casa de Deus, que está  em Jerusalém; e com eles os profetas de Deus, que os ajudavam.

3 Naquele tempo veio a eles Tatenai, governador daquém do rio, e Setarboznai, e os seus companheiros, e disseram-lhes assim: Quem vos deu ordem para edificares esta casa, e restaurardes este muro?

4 Então assim lhes disseram: E quais são os nomes dos homens que construíram este edifício?

5 Porém os olhos de Deus estavam sobre os anciãos dos judeus, e não os impediram, até que o negócio veio a Dario, e então responderam por carta sobre isso.

6 Cópia da carta que Tatenai, o governador daquém do rio, com Setarboznai e os seus companheiros, os afarsaquitas, que estavam daquém do rio, enviaram ao rei Dario.

7 Enviaram-lhe uma relação; e assim estava escrito nela: Toda a paz ao rei Dario.

8 Seja notório ao rei que nós fomos à província de Judá, à casa do grande Deus, que se edifica com grandes pedras, e já a madeira se está pondo sobre as paredes; e esta obra apressuradamente se faz, e se adianta em suas mãos.

9 Então perguntamos aos anciãos, e assim lhes dissemos: Quem vos deu ordem para edificardes esta casa, e restaurardes este muro?

10 Demais disto, lhes perguntamos também pelos seus nomes, para tos declararmos, para que te pudéssemos escrever os nomes dos homens que são entre eles os chefes.

11 E as respostas nos deram, dizendo: Nós somos servos do Deus dos céus e da terra, e reedificamos a casa que foi edificada muitos anos antes; porque um grande rei de Israel a edificou e a aperfeiçoou.

12 Mas depois que nossos pais provocaram à ira o Deus dos céus, eles os entregou na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, o caldeu, o qual destruiu esta casa, e transportou o seu povo para Babilônia.

13 Porém no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei da Babilônia, o rei Ciro deu ordem para que esta casa de Deus se edificasse.

14 E até os vasos de ouro e de prata, da casa de Deus, que Nabucodonosor tomou do templo que estava em Jerusalém e os meteu no templo de Babilônia, e foram dados a um homem cujo nome era Sesbazar, a quem nomeou governador.

15 E disse-lhe: Toma estes vasos, vai, e leva-os ao templo que está em Jerusalém, e faze edificar a casa de Deus, no seu lugar.

16 Então veio o dito Sesbazar, e pôs os fundamentos da casa de Deus, que está em Jerusalém; e desde então para cá se está edificando, e ainda não está acabada.

17 Agora pois, se parece bem ao rei, busque-se lá na casa dos tesouros do rei, que está em Babilônia, se é verdade  haver uma ordem do rei Ciro para edificar esta casa de Deus em Jerusalém; e sobre isto nos faça o rei saber a sua vontade.

4 तौभी उस देश के लोगोंने यहूदा के लोगोंको ढाढ़स दिया, और उनको भवन बनाने में घबरा दिया।

5 और उन्होंने फारस के राजा कुस्रू के जीवन काल से लेकर फारस के राजा दारा के राज्यकाल तक, उनकी युक्ति को निष्फल करने के लिथे उनके विरूद्ध मन्त्रियों को नियुक्त किया।

6 और क्षयर्ष के राज्य में उसके राज्य के आरम्भ में उन्होंने यहूदा और यरूशलेम के निवासियोंके विरूद्ध दोष लिखा।

7 और अर्तक्षत्र के दिनों में बिशलाम, मित्रदात, ताबील और उनकी सारी मण्डली के लोगों ने फारस के राजा अर्तक्षत्र को लिखा; और पत्र सीरियाक अक्षरों में, और सीरियाक भाषा में लिखा गया था।

8 सो रहूम राजकुलपति और शिनशै मंत्री ने यरूशलेम के विरूद्ध राजा अर्तक्षत्र को इस प्रकार पत्र लिखा।

9 फिर रहूम राजधिपति, और शिमशै मंत्री, और उनके मण्डली के औरोंको यह लिखकर दिया, अर्यात्‌ दीनानियों, अपफरसकियों, तारपेलियों, अपहारियों, पुरालेखपालों, कसदियों, सुनसंकियों, डेवियों, एलामियों,

1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were building the temple to the Lord God of Israel,

2 They came to Zerubbabel and the heads of the fathers' houses and said to them, "Let us build with you, for we will seek your God as you do, as we have sacrificed to him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Asshur, who brought us here."

3 But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the other heads of the fathers' houses of Israel said to them, "It is not right that you and we should build a house to our God; but we alone will build it to the Lord God of Israel, as Cyrus king of Persia commanded us."

4 But the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah and made them uneasy in building.

5 And they hired counselors against them to frustrate their plan, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, until the reign of Darius king of Persia. 

6 And under the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. 

7 And in the days of Artaxerxes Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their company, wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the letter was written in Syriac characters, and in the Syriac language. 

8 So Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to King Artaxerxes, in this manner. 

9 Then Rehum the chancellor, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of his company wrote: the Dinaites, the Apharzachites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archivists, the Babylonians, the Sunsankites, the Deavites, the Elamites, 

10 and other peoples whom the great and renowned Ashnappar carried away and settled in the city of Samaria, and the rest beyond the River, at such and such a time. 

11 This is the letter they sent to King Artaxerxes: Your servants, the men beyond the River, at such and such a time.

13 Now let the king know that if that city is rebuilt and the walls are repaired, they will not pay the duties, taxes, and revenues; and so the king's wealth will be ruined.

14 Now therefore, since we are hired servants of the palace, and it is not fitting for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore we have sent word to the king.

15 So that he may search in the book of the chronicles of your fathers, and then you will find in the book of the chronicles, and you will know that that was a rebellious city, and a troublemaker to the kings and provinces, and that there was rebellion in it in the old days; therefore that city was destroyed.

16 Therefore we make it known to the king that if that city is rebuilt and its walls are repaired, in this way you will have no portion on this side of the River. 

17 And the king sent this answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shishai the scribe, and to the rest of their company that dwelt in Samaria, and to the rest of them that were beyond the River: Peace! And at such a time.

18 The letter that you sent us was plainly read before me.

19 And when I commanded, they sought, and found that of old time this city had risen up against kings, and that rebellion and sedition had been made therein.

20 And there were mighty kings over Jerusalem, who ruled over every place beyond the River, and they paid them dues, tributes, and revenues.

21 Now therefore command those men to stop, that the city be not built, until an order be given by me.

22 And beware of doing wrong in this matter: why should you increase the damage to the hurt of kings? 

23 So when the copy of King Artaxerxes' letter had been read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they hurried to Jerusalem to the Jews and stopped them by force and violence. 

24 Then the work on the house of God in Jerusalem ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

1 Ouvindo pois os adversários de Judá e Benjamim que os que tornaram do cativeiro edificavam o templo ao Senhor Deus de Israel,

2 Chegaram-se a Zorobabel e aos chefes dos pais, e disseram-lhes: Deixai-nos edificar convosco, porque, como vós, buscaremos a vosso Deus; como também já lhe sacrificamos desde os dias de Asaradom, rei de Assur, que nos mandou vir para aqui.

3 Porém Zorobabel, e Jesua, e os outros chefes dos pais de Israel lhes disseram: Não convém que vós e nós edifiquemos casa a nosso Deus; mas nós sós a edificaremos ao Senhor, Deus de Israel, como nos ordenou o rei Ciro, rei da Pérsia.

4 Todavia o povo da terra debilitava as mãos do povo de Judá, e inquietava-os no edificar.

5 E alugaram contra eles conselheiros para frustrarem o seu plano, todos os dias de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, até ao reinado do Dario, rei da Pérsia.

6 E sob o reino de Assuero, no princípio de seu reinado, escreveram uma acusação contra os habitantes de Judá e Jerusalém.

9 Então escreveu Reum, o chanceler, e Sinsai o escrivão, e os outros da sua companhia: dinaitas e afarsaquitas, tarpelitas, afarsitas, arquivistas,babilônios, sunsanquitas, deavitas, elamitas,

10 E outros povos, que o grande e afamado Asnapar transportou, e que fez habitar na cidade de Samaria, e os outros dalém do rio, e em tal tempo.

11 Este pois é o teor da carta que ao rei Artaxerxes lhe mandaram: Teus servos, os homens daquém do rio, e em tal tempo.

12 Saiba o rei os judeus que subiram de ti vieram a nós a Jerusalém, e edificaram aquela rebelde e malvada cidade, e vão restaurando os seus muros, e reparando os seus fundamentos.

13 Agora saiba o rei que, se aquela cidade se reedificar, e os muros se restaurarem, eles não pagarão os direitos, os tributos e as rendas; e assim se danificará a fazenda dos reis.

14 Agora pois, como somos assalariados do paço, e não nos convém ver a desonra do rei, por isso mandamos dar aviso ao rei.

15 Para que se busque no livro das crônicas de teus pais, e então acharás no livro das crônicas, e saberá que aquela foi uma cidade rebelde e danosa aos reis e províncias, e que nela houve rebelião em tempos antigos; pelo que foi aquela cidade destruída.

16 Nós pois fazemos notório ao rei que, se aquela cidade se reedificar, e os seus muros se restaurarem, desta maneira não terás porção alguma desta banda do rio.

17 E o rei enviou esta resposta a Reum, o chanceler, e a Sisai, o escrivão, e aos mais da sua companhia, que habitavam em Samaria; como também ao resto dos que estavam dalém do rio: Paz! E em tal tempo.

18 A carta que nos enviastes foi explicitamente lida diante de mim.

19 E, ordenando-o eu, buscaram e acharam que de tempos antigos aquela cidade se levantou contra os reis, e nela se têm feito rebelião e sedição.

20 Também houve reis poderosos sobre Jerusalém, que dalém do rio dominaram em todo o lugar, e se lhes pagaram direitos, e tributos, e rendas.

21 Agora pois dai ordem para que aqueles homens parem a fim de que se de que não se edifique aquela cidade, até que se dê uma ordem por mim.

22 E guardai-vos de cometerdes erro nisto; por que crescerias o dano para prejuízo dos reis?

23 Então depois que a cópia da carta do rei Artaxerxes se leu perante Reum, e Sinsai, o escrivão, e seus companheiros, apressadamente foram eles a Jerusalém, aos judeus, e os impediram à força de braço e com violência.

9 तब येशू, और उसके बेटे, और उसके भाई, और कदमीएल और उसके बेटे, जो यहूदा के थे, परमेश्वर के भवन में काम करनेवालोंकी चौकसी करने को एक मन होकर खड़े हुए, अर्थात हेनादाद की सन्तान, और उसके भाई, और लेवीय।

10 जब राजमिस्त्रियों ने यहोवा के भवन की नेव डाली, तब इस्राएल के राजा दाऊद की आज्ञा के अनुसार याजक वस्त्र पहिने हुए और तुरहियां लिए हुए, और आसाप के पुत्र लेवीय भजन बजाते हुए यहोवा की स्तुति करने के लिये आगे आए।

11 और वे बारी बारी से यहोवा की स्तुति और जयजयकार करने लगे, क्योंकि वह भला है; क्योंकि उसकी करूणा इस्राएल पर सर्वदा बनी रहेगी। और सब लोग बड़े आनन्द से आनन्दित हुए, और यहोवा के भवन की नेव के विषय में यहोवा की स्तुति की।

12 परन्तु बहुत से याजक, और लेवीय, और पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य पुरुषोंमें से जो पहिले भवन को उसकी नेव पर देखते थे, इस भवन को अपनी आंखों के साम्हने देखकर ऊंचे शब्द से रोने लगे; परन्तु बहुतों ने हर्ष और उल्लास से अपनी आवाजें उठाईं।

The foundations of the temple are laid

8 In the second year of their coming to the house of God in Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jehozadak, and their brothers, the priests and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, began to carry out the work on the house of the Lord.

9 Then Jeshua and his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, stood up as one man to oversee those who were doing the work on the house of God, the sons of Henadad and their sons and their brothers, the Levites.

10 When the builders had laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, then the priests stood dressed and with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with psalteries, to praise the Lord, according to the order established by David king of Israel.

11 And they sang in turn, praising and making merry to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with great joy, when they praised the Lord for the foundation of the house of the Lord.

12 But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' houses, who were old, who had seen the first house on its foundation, when they saw this house before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; but many lifted up their voices with joy and gladness.

13 So that the voice of joy could not be distinguished from the voice of the people's weeping, for the people shouted with such great joy that their voices could be heard from afar.
