Many Victories of David

1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and overthrew them; and he took Gath, and the cities thereof, out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 And he smote the Moabites: and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing him gifts.

3 And David smote Hadar-ezer king of Zobah, which is near Hamath; and he went to establish his dominion by the Euphrates.

4 And David took from him a thousand chariot horses, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved one hundred horses of them.

5 And the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadar-ezer king of Zobah: and David smote twenty and two thousand men of the Syrians.

6 David stationed garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became David's servants, bringing gifts. And the Lord protected David wherever he went. 

7 David took the shields of gold that the servants of Hadar-ezer had and brought them to Jerusalem. 

8 David also took very much bronze from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadar-ezer, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the vessels of bronze. 

9 When Tohu king of Hamath heard that David had destroyed the entire army of Hadar-ezer king of Zobah, 

10 he sent Hadoram his son to David to inquire of him and to bless him, because he had fought with Hadar-ezer and destroyed him (for Hadar-ezer was at war with Tohu). He also sent him all kinds of vessels of gold, silver, and bronze. 

11 David also dedicated them to the Lord, together with the silver and gold which he had brought from all the other nations: from the Edomites, the Moabites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and the Amalekites.

12 Abishai the son of Zeruiah also defeated eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

13 He put a garrison in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the Lord protected David wherever he went.

14 David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness to all his people.

15 Joab the son of Zeruiah was in charge of the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.

16 Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Shausa was the scribe. 

17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites: but the sons of David, the chief, were at the king's hand.

2 Também feriu os moabitas: e os moabitas ficaram servos de Davi, trazendo presentes.

3 Também Davi feriu a Hadar-Ezer, rei de Zobá, junto a Hamate, indo ele estabelecer os seus domínios pelo Eufrates.

4 E Davi lhe tomou mil cavalos de carros, e sete mil cavaleiros, e vinte mil homens de pé: e Davi jarretou todos os cavalos dos carros; porém reservou deles cem cavalos.

5 E vieram os siros de Damasco a ajudar a Hadar-Ezer, rei de Zobá: porém dos siros feriu Davi vinte e dois mil homens.

David's Prayer

16 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, "Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that you have brought me this far?"

17 And yet this, O God, was too little in your sight; therefore you have spoken of the house of your servant for a long time past, and you have granted me, according to the custom of men, this exaltation, O Lord God.

18 What more can David say to you about the honor shown to your servant? But you know your servant.

19 O Lord, for your servant's sake, and according to your own heart you have done all these great things, to make known all these great things.

20 O Lord, there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

21 And who is like thy people Israel, the only people on earth whom God went to redeem as his own people, making a name for himself by great and awesome deeds, driving out the nations before thy people whom thou didst redeem from Egypt?

 22 And thou tookst thy people Israel to be thy people for ever: and thou, O LORD, became their God. 

23 And now, O LORD, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be sure for ever: and do as thou hast spoken. 

24 And let it be established indeed, and let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, he is God to Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee. 

25 For thou, my God, hast revealed in the ear of thy servant that thou wouldest build him a house: therefore thy servant hath found boldness to pray before thee. 

26 And now, O Lord, you are God, and you have spoken this good thing concerning your servant.

27 And now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may be before you forever; for you, O Lord, have blessed it, and it shall be blessed forever.

20 Senhor, ninguém há como tu, e não há Deus fora de ti, conforme tudo quanto ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos.

21 E quem há como o teu povo Israel, única gente na terra, a quem Deus foi remir para seu povo, fazendo-te nome com coisas grandes e temerosas, lançando as nações de diante do teu povo, que remiste do Egito?

1 जब दाऊद अपके घर में या, तब दाऊद ने नातान भविष्यद्वक्ता से कहा, सुन, मैं तो देवदार के घर में रहता हूं, परन्तु यहोवा की वाचा का सन्दूक परदे के नीचे है।

2 तब नातान ने दाऊद से कहा, जो कुछ तेरे मन में हो वही कर, क्योंकि परमेश्वर तेरे संग है।

3 परन्तु उसी रात को यहोवा का सन्देश नातान के पास पहुंचा,

David Wants to Build the Temple, but God Does Not Allow It

1 Now it happened, while David was living in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, "Behold, I live in a house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under curtains."

2 Then Nathan said to David, "Do whatever is in your heart, for God is with you."

3 But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,

4 Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the Lord: You shall not build me a house to dwell in,

5 For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel until this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from one tabernacle to another.

6 6 Wherever I have walked with all Israel, have I spoken a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people, saying, ‘Why do you not build me a house of cedar?’

7 Now therefore thus shall you say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.

8 And I have been with you everywhere you went, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you, and I have made you a name like the name of the great men who are in the earth.

9 And I have appointed a place for my people Israel, and I have planted them, that they may dwell in their own place, and they shall no more be removed from one place to another; neither shall the children of wickedness weaken them any more, as at the first.

10 And since the days that I appointed judges over my people Israel, but I have subdued all your enemies. I have also made known to you that the Lord would build you a house.

11 And it shall come to pass, when your days are fulfilled that you should go to your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, which shall be of your sons, and I will establish his kingdom.

12 He shall build the house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.

13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son; and I will not take away my kindness from him, as I took it from those who were before you.

14 But I will establish him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.

15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

1 Sucedeu pois que, morando Davi já em sua casa, disse Davi ao profeta Natã: Eis que moro em casa de cedros, mas a arca do concerto do Senhor está debaixo de cortinas.

2 Então Natã disse a Davi: Tudo quanto tens no teu coração, faze, porque Deus é contigo.

3 Mas sucedeu, na mesma noite, que a palavra do Senhor veio a Natã, dizendo:

4 Vai e dize a Davi meu servo: Assim diz o Senhor: Tu  me não edificarás uma casa para morar,

5 Porque em casa nenhuma morei, desde o dia em que fiz subir a Israel, até ao dia de hoje; mas fui de tenda em tenda, e de tabernáculo em tabernáculo.

6 Por todas as partes por onde andei com todo o Israel, porventura falei alguma palavra a algum dos juízes de Israel, a quem ordenei que apascentasse o meu povo, dizendo: Por que me não edificais uma casa de cedros?

7 Agora pois assim dirás a meu servo, a Davi: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eu te tirei do curral, de detrás das ovelhas, para que fosses chefe do meu povo Israel.

8 E estive contigo por toda a parte, por onde foste, e de diante de ti exterminei todos os teus inimigos e te fiz um nome como o nome dos grandes que estão na terra.

9 E ordenei um lugar para o meu povo Israel, e o plantei, para que habite no seu lugar, e nunca mais seja removido  duma para outra parte; e nunca mais os debilitarão os filhos da perversidade, como ao princípio.

10 E desde os dias em que ordenei juízes sobre o meu povo Israel; porém abati a todos os teus inimigos: Também te fiz saber que o Senhor te edificaria uma casa.

11 E há de ser que, quando forem cumpridos os teus dias, para ires a teus pais, suscitarei a tua semente depois de ti, a qual será dos teus filhos, e confirmarei o seu reino.

12 Este me edificará a casa; e eu confirmarei o seu trono para sempre.

13 Eu lhe serei por pai, e ele me será por filho: e a minha benignidade não desviarei dele, como a tirei daqueles que foi antes de ti.

14 Mas o confirmarei na minha casa e no meu reino para sempre, e o seu trono será firme para sempre.

Thanksgiving and Songs of David

4 And he set some of the Levites before the ark of the Lord to minister, to remember, to praise, and to celebrate the Lord God of Israel.

5 Asaph was the chief, and next to him were Zechariah; Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jeiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel with psalteries and harps; and Asaph made himself heard with cymbals;

6 And Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 Then David delivered the following psalm that day, first, to praise the Lord, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren:

8 Praise the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.

9 Sing to him, sing praises to him, and speak of all his wonderful works.

10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

11 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his face continually.

12 Remember his wonders that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments of his mouth.

13 O house of Israel, his servants, you sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

15 Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded for a thousand generations,

16 the covenant that he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; 

17 He confirmed this to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 

18 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance."

 19 Although you were few in number, few in number, and strangers in it, 

20 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people. 

21 He allowed no one to oppress them, and he rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, 

22 "Do not touch my anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm."

 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation from day to day.

 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all peoples. 

25 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. 

26 For all the gods of the nations are vanity, but the Lord made the heavens.

 27 Majesty and splendor are before him; strength and joy are in his place.

28 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

29 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring gifts, and come before him; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

30 Tremble before him, let all the earth tremble; for the world is established, that it may not be moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, The Lord reigns.

32 Let the sea roar with its fullness; let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.

33 Then the trees of the wood will sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.

34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his lovingkindness endures forever. 

35 And say, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations; that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.

36 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever. And all the people said, Amen! And they gave thanks to the Lord.

37 Then he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister continually before the ark, as was appointed for each day.

38 And Obed-Edom and his brothers, sixty-eight: whom he appointed Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be doorkeepers. 

39 And Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

 40 to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law which the LORD had commanded for Israel. 

41 And with them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the chosen men who were mentioned by name, to praise the LORD, for his mercy endures forever. 

42 And with them were Heman and Jeduthun, and trumpets and cymbals for those who gave them sound, and instruments of music of God; but the sons of Jeduthun stood at the gate. 

43 Then all the people departed, each to his own house; and David returned to bless his house.

4 E pôs perante a arca do Senhor alguns dos levitas por ministros; e isto para recordarem, e louvarem, e celebrarem ao Senhor Deus de Israel.

5 Era Asafe o chefe, e Zacarias o segundo depois dele: Jeiel, e Semiramote, e Jeiel, e Matitias, e Eliabe, e Benaia e Obede-Edom, e Jeiel, com alaúdes e com harpas: e Asafe se fazia ouvir com címbalos;

The Ark is Taken from the House of Obed-Edom to Jerusalem

1 He also made a house for himself in the City of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.

2 Then David said, "No one may carry the ark of God except the Levites, for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to him forever."

3 So David gathered all Israel together in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place which he had prepared for it.

4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites.

5 Of the sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred and twenty.

6 Of the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred and twenty.

7 Of the sons of Gershon: Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred and thirty.

8 Of the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred.

9 Of the sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty.

10 Of the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred and twelve.

11 Then David called for the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and for the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.

12 And he said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses among the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it.

13 For because you did not do so at first, the LORD has broken through with us, because we did not seek him according to the ordinance.” 

14 So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

15 And the sons of the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders, as Moses commanded, according to the word of the Lord, with the staves that were on them.

16 And David commanded the princes of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers with musical instruments, with psalteries, harps, and cymbals, that they might make a sound, lifting up their voices with joy.

17 So the Levites commanded Heman the son of Joel, and of his brethren Asaph the son of Berechiah, and of the sons of Merari, their brethren Ethan the son of Kushaiah. 

18 And with them their brothers of the second order: Zechariah, Ben, and Jahaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jeiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithitas, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.

19 And the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, with brass cymbals;

20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jeiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah with psalteries on Alamoth;

21 And Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with psalteries on Sheminit, to make the tone louder.

22 And Chenaniah the prince of the Levites was in charge of the song; he taught them to sing it, for he understood.

23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

24 And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

25 And it came to pass, that David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.

26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams. 

27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who carried the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah, chief of those who carried the ark and of the singers; David also had a linen ephod on him. 

28 All Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of cornets, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, and with harps and lyres. 

29 When the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, Michal, Saul's daughter, looked out of a window and saw David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart.

A arca é levada da casa de Obede-Edom para Jerusalém

 

1 Fez também casa para si na cidade de Davi: e preparou um lugar para a arca de Deus, e armou-lhe uma tenda.

2 Então disse Davi: Ninguém pode levar a arca de Deus, senão os levitas; porque o Senhor os elegeu, para levar a arca de Deus, e para o servirem eternamente.

3 E Davi ajuntou a todo Israel em Jerusalém, para fazerem subir a arca do Senhor ao seu lugar, que lhe tinha preparado.

4 E Davi ajuntou os filhos de Aarão e os levitas.

5 Dos filhos de Coate: Uriel, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos cento e vinte.

6 Dos filhos de Merari: Asaías, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos duzentos e vinte.

7 Dos filhos de Gérson: Joel, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos cento e trinta.

8 Dos filhos de Elisafã: Semaías, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos duzentos.

9 Dos filhos de Hebrom: Eliel, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos oitenta.

10 Dos filhos de Uziel: Aminadabe, o príncipe, e de seus irmãos cento e doze.

11 E chamou Davi os sacerdotes Zadoque e Abiatar, e os levitas, Uriel, Asaías, Joel, Semaías, Eliel, e Aminadabe;

12 E disse-lhes: Vós sois os chefes dos pais entre os levitas: santificai-vos, vós e vossos irmãos, para que façais subir a arca do Senhor, Deus de Israel, ao lugar que lhe tenho preparado.

13 Pois que, porquanto primeiro vós assim o não fizestes, o Senhor fez rotura em nós, porque o não buscamos segundo a ordenança.

14 Santificaram-se pois os sacerdotes e levitas, para fazerem subir a arca do Senhor Deus de Israel.

15 E os filhos dos levitas trouxeram a arca de Deus aos ombros, como Moisés tinha ordenado, conforme a palavra do Senhor com as varas que tinha sobre si.

16 E disse Davi aos príncipes dos levitas que constituíssem a seus irmãos, os cantores, com instrumentos músicos, com alaúdes, harpas e címbalos, para que se fizessem ouvir, levantando a voz com alegria.

17 Ordenaram pois os levitas a Hemã, filho de Joel; e dos seus irmãos, a Asafe, filho de Berequias, e dos filhos de Merari, seus irmãos a Etã, filho de Cusaías.

18 E com eles a seus irmãos da segunda ordem: a Zacarias, Bene, e Jaaziel, e Semiramote, e Jeiel, e Uni, Eliabe, e Benaia, e  Maaseias e Matitas, e Elifeleu, e Micnéias e Obede-Edom, e Jeiel, os porteiros.

19 E os cantores, Hemã, Asafe e Etã, se faziam ouvir com címbalos de metal;

20 E Zacarias, e Aziel, e Semiramote, e Jeiel, e Uni, e Eliabe, e Maaséias, e Benaia com alaúdes, sobre Alamote:

21 E Matitias e Elifeleú, e Micnéias, e Obede-Edom, e Jeiel, e Azazias, com harpas, sobre Seminite, para esforçar o tom.

22 E Quenanias, príncipe dos levitas, tinha cargo de entoar o canto; ensinava-os a entoá-lo, porque era entendido.

23 E Berequias e Elcana eram porteiros da arca.

24 E Sebanias, e Josafá, e Netaneel, e Amasai, e Zacarias, e Benaia, e Eliézer, os sacerdotes, tocavam as trombetas perante a arca de Deus: e Obedete-Edom e Jeías eram porteiros da arca.

25 Sucedeu pois que Davi e os anciãos de Israel, e os capitães dos milhares, foram fazer subir a arca do concerto do Senhor, da casa de Obede-Edom, com alegria.

26 E sucedeu que, ajudando Deus os levitas que levavam a arca do concerto do Senhor, sacrificaram sete novilhos e sete carneiros.

27 E Davi ia vestido de um roupão de linho fino, como também todos os levitas que levavam a arca, e os cantores, e Quenanias, chefe dos que levavam a arca e dos cantores; também Davi levava sobre si um éfode de linho.

28 E todo o Israel fez subir a arca do concerto do Senhor, com júbilo, e com sonido de buzinas, e com trombetas, e com címbalos, fazendo sonido com alaúdes e com harpas.

29 E sucedeu que chegando a arca do concerto do Senhor à cidade de Davi, Mical, a filha de Saul, olhou duma janela e, vendo a Davi dançar e tocar, o desprezou no seu coração.

1 तब सोर के राजा हीराम ने दाऊद के पास दूत, और देवदार की लकड़ी, और राजमिस्त्री, और बढ़ई भेजे, कि उसका भवन बनाएं।

2 और दाऊद ने जान लिया, कि यहोवा ने उसे इस्राएल पर राजा ठहराया है; क्योंकि उसका राज्य उसकी प्रजा इस्राएल के कारण बहुत ऊंचा हो गया था।

5 और जिबार, और एलीशू। और एल्पेलेटे,

6 एनोगा, और नेपेग, और यापी,

7 और एलीशामा, और बेलियादा, और एलीपेलेत।

8 जब पलिश्तियों ने सुना, कि दाऊद को सारे इस्राएल पर राजा होने के लिये अभिषिक्त किया गया है, तब सब पलिश्ती दाऊद को ढूंढ़ने को चढ़ गए, और दाऊद तुरन्त उनका साम्हना करने को निकला।

9 और पलिश्ती आकर रपाईम की तराई में फैल गए।

10 तब दाऊद ने परमेश्वर से पूछा, क्या मैं पलिश्तियोंपर चढ़ाई करके उन्हें अपने वश में कर दूं? और यहोवा ने उस से कहा, चढ़, क्योंकि मैं उनको तेरे हाथ में कर दूंगा।

11 और जब दाऊद बालपरासीम को गया, तब उस ने उनको वहीं मार लिया; और दाऊद ने कहा, परमेश्वर ने मेरे हाथ से मेरे शत्रुओं को जल के नाश के समान हरा दिया है। इसलिये उन्होंने उस स्थान का नाम बालपरासीम रखा।

12 और उन्होंने अपके देवताओंको वहीं छोड़ दिया; और दाऊद ने उन्हें आग में जलाने की आज्ञा दी।

13 परन्तु पलिश्ती लौट आए, और सारी तराई में फैल गए।

14 और दाऊद ने फिर परमेश्वर से पूछा; और परमेश्वर ने उस से कहा, तू उनके पीछे न चलना; परन्तु वह उनके पीछे-पीछे चलता, और शहतूत के वृक्षों के साम्हने से उनके पास आता है;

15 और ऐसा होगा, कि जब तू शहतूत के पेड़ोंकी चोटियोंमें से किसी के चलने का शब्द सुनेगा, तब तू युद्ध करने को निकलेगा; क्योंकि परमेश्वर पलिश्तियों की सेना को मारने के लिथे तुम्हारे आगे आगे निकलेगा।

16 और दाऊद ने परमेश्वर की आज्ञा के अनुसार किया; और उन्होंने गिबोन से लेकर गजोर तक पलिश्तियोंकी सेना को जीत लिया।

17 इस प्रकार दाऊद का नाम उन सब देशोंमें फैल गया: और यहोवा ने उन सब लोगोंमें उसका भय उत्पन्न कर दिया।

David Makes an Alliance with Hiram

1 Then Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar timber, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 And David knew that the Lord had established him king over Israel, because his kingdom had been greatly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.

3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.

4 And these are the names of his sons that he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

5 And Jibar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 And when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David went out against them.

9 And the Philistines came and spread out in the Valley of Raphaim.

10 Then David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines, and deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him, Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.

11 And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there: and David said, By my hand God hath defeated my enemies, as the breaking forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

12 And they left their gods there: and David commanded to burn them with fire.

13 But the Philistines turned back, and spread out in the valley.

14 And David inquired of God again: and God said to him, Thou shalt not go up after them; but compass them about behind, and come up against them in front of the mulberry trees: 

15 And it shall come to pass, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that thou go out to battle: for God hath gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines. 

16 And David did as God commanded him: and they slew the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even unto Gazor. 

17 So the name of David spread throughout all lands: and the fear of the LORD did unto all nations.
