1 Samuel 31 The killing of the Israelites and the death of Saul

 1 Samuel 31

The killing of the Israelites and the death of Saul

1 So the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell through the mountain of Gilboa.

2 And the Philistines pressed with Saul and his sons: and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua the sons of Saul.

3 And the battle raged against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he feared greatly because of the archers.

4 And Saul said to his page in arms, Pluck out thy sword, and pierce me with it, lest these uncircumcised come and pierce me and mock me. But his page-at-arms would not, because he feared greatly: so Saul took the sword, and fell upon it.

5 When his page in arms saw that Saul was slain, he also fell upon his sword, and died with him.

6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his page in arms, and all his men also died together that day.

7 And when the men of Israel, that were on this side of the valley and on this side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

8 And it came to pass, when the Philistines came the other day to plunder the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons lying on the mountain of Gilboa.

9 And they cut off his head, and stripped him of his weapons, and sent around the land of the Philistines to preach him in the temple of their idols, and among the people.

10 And they put their weapons in the temple of Ashtaroth, and his body they fixed on the wall of Beth-san.

11 When the inhabitants of Jabesh of Gilead heard this, what the Philistines did to Saul,

12 Every valiant man arose, and walked all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons out of the wall of Beth-san, and when they came to Jabesh, they burned him.

13 And they took his bones, and buried them under a grove in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

 I Samuel 31

26 और जब दाऊद सिकलग में आया, तब उस ने लूट में से अपके मित्र यहूदा के पुरनियोंके पास कहला भेजा, कि यहोवा के शत्रुओं की लूट में से तेरे लिथे आशीष हो;

1 Samuel 30 David establishes the law of division of the prey

 1 Samuel 30

David establishes the law of division of the prey

22 Then all the wicked, and the sons of Belial, among the men that went with David, answered, and said, Since they have not gone with us, we will not give them of the spoil which we have delivered; but let each one take his wife and children, and go.

23 But David said, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, whereby the LORD hath given us, which hath guarded us, and hath given the troops against us into our hands.

24 And who in such would listen to you? for what is the part of those who went down to battle, so shall be the part of those who are left with the baggage; they will also dish out.

25 Which was so from that day forward, because he made it a statute and a right in Israel to this day.

26 And when David came to Siklag, he sent of the spoil to the elders of Judah, his friends, saying, Behold a blessing for you from the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;

27 To Bethel, and to Ramoth in the south, and to Jater,

28 And to Aroer, and to Sifmoth, and to Estemoa,

29 And to Racals, and to those who were in the Jerameeeelite cities, and in the cities of the Kenites.

30 And to those of Hormah, and to those of Korahan, and to those of Assault.

31 And to those of Hebron, and to all the places where David walked, he and his men.

I Samuel 30 Davi estabelece a lei da divisão da presa

 I Samuel 30

26 E, chegando Davi a Siclague, enviou do despojo aos anciãos de Judá, seus amigos, dizendo: Eis aí para vos uma benção do despojo dos inimigos do Senhor;

15 दाऊद ने उस से कहा, क्या तू उतरकर मुझे उस दल के पास ले जा सकता है? उस ने उस से कहा, परमेश्वर की शपय खाकर कि तू मुझे न मार, और न तू मेरे प्रभु के हाथ में कर देगा;

1 Samuel 30 David chases the Amalekites and frees the captives

 1 Samuel 30

David chases the Amalekites and frees the captives

7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Achimelech, Bring me, I pray thee, here the ephod. And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

8 Then David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I persecute this host? will I reach her? And the Lord said to him: Persecute her, for surely you will overtake her, and deliver everything.

9 So David, he and the six hundred men that were with him, departed, and came to the brook Besor, where those who were left behind stopped.

10 And David followed them, he and the four hundred men, for two hundred men were left behind, because they were not able, because they were weary, who were passing over the brook of Besor.

11 And they found an Egyptian man in the field, and brought him to David: they gave him bread, and he ate, and gave him water to drink.

12 And they gave him a piece of dried fig dough and two bunches of raisins, and he ate, and his spirit returned, because for three days and three nights he had not eaten bread or drunk water.

13 Then David said to him, Whose are you, and where are you from? And the Egyptian boy said, I am the servant of an Amalekite man, and my lord has left me, because I was sick three days ago.

14 We spurred on towards the south side of the Cherenites and towards the side of Judah, and towards the south side of Caleb, and set Shiklag on fire.

15 And David said to him, Could you, coming down, lead me to that troop? And he said unto him, By God swear unto me that thou shalt not kill me, neither shalt thou deliver me into my lord's hand;

16 And going down, he led him; and, behold, they were scattered over the face of all the earth, eating and drinking and dancing, through all that great spoil which they took from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

17 And David smote them from the twilight until the evening of the next day, and none of them escaped, save the four hundred young men who, riding on camels, fled.

18 So David delivered all that the Amalekites took: his two wives also delivered David.

19 And they lacked none, from the least to the greatest, and even the sons and daughters; and also from the spoil to all that they had taken from them, all David brought back.

20 And David took all the sheep and herds, and led them before the other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.

21 And when David came to the two hundred men, who were weary and could not follow David, and who left to stay in the brook Besor, they went out to meet David and the people who came with him: and when David drew nigh to the people , greeted them in peace.

I Samuel 30 Davi persegue os amalequitas e livra os cativos

 I Samuel 30

Davi persegue os amalequitas e livra os cativos

7 E disse Davi a Abiatar, o sacerdote filho de Aquimeleque: Traze-me, peço-te, aqui o éfode. E Abiatar trouxe o éfode a Davi.

11 E acharam no campo um homem egípcio, e o trouxeram a Davi: deram-lhe pão, e comeu, e deram-lhe a beber água.

15 E disse-lhe Davi: Poderias, descendo, guiar-me a essa tropa?

1 Samuel 30 Siklag is plundered by the Amalekites

 1 Samuel 30

Siklag is plundered by the Amalekites

1 So it came to pass, when David and his men came to Sheklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had come upon the south with a rush, and upon Shiklag, and had smitten Shiklag, and had set her on fire.

2 And they took captive the women that were in it, but they slew no one, neither small nor great; they just took them with them and went their way.

3 And David and his men came into the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire, and its wives, and its sons, and its daughters, were carried away captive.

4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice, and wept, until there was no more strength in them to weep.

5 Also the two wives of David were taken captive; Aquinoan, the Jezreelite, and Abigail, the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6 And David was very distressed, because the people spoke of stoning him, because the spirit of all the people was in bitterness, every one because of his sons and his daughters: yet David exerted himself in the Lord his God.

I Samuel 30 Siclague é saqueada pelos amalequitas

 I Samuel 30

1 Samuel 29 David marches with Achish against the Israelites

 1 Samuel 29

David marches with Achish against the Israelites

1 And the Philistines gathered all their armies to Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by the spring that is in Jezreel.

2 And the princes of the Philistines went thither with hundreds and thousands: but David and his men went with Achish in the rear.

3 Then said the princes of the Philistines, What are these Hebrews doing here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who was with me some days or years? and I found nothing in him since the day he rebelled, until today.

4 But the princes of the Philistines were very angry with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto them, Return this man, and return to his place where thou hast set him, and go not down with us to the battle, lest he turn to us in the adversary's battle: your lord? would it not be with the heads of these men?

5 Is not this that David, of whom they answered one another with dances, saying, Saul smote his thousands, but David his tens of thousands?

6 Then Achish called to David, and said to him, As the LORD liveth, that thou art upright, and that thy going in and thy going out with me into the camp is good in my sight; for I have found no harm in you, from the day you came unto me, until this day; but in the eyes of princes they do not like.

7 Return therefore now, and return in peace: that you may not do harm in the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.

8 Then David said to Achish, Why? What did I do? Or what hast thou found in thy servant, from the day that I stood before thee, until this day, that he may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

9 But Achish answered and said unto David, I know well: and that thou art indeed in my sight as an angel of God: but the princes of the Philistines said, Let him not go up with us to battle.

10 Now therefore, in the morning, rise up with thy lord's servants, who have come with thee: and in the morning rising, when there is light, depart.

11 Then David arose early in the morning, he and his men, to depart in the morning, and they returned to the land of the Philistines: and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

I Samuel 29 Davi marcha com Áquis contra os israelitas

 I Samuel 29

1 Samuel 28 Saul consults an Endor python

 1 Samuel 28

Saul consults an Endor python

1 And it came to pass in those days, when the Philistines gathered their armies to battle, to make war against Israel, that Achish said to David, Surely thou shalt go out to the camp with me, thou and thy men.

2 Then David said to Achish, Thus shalt thou know what thy servant shall do. And Achish said to David, Therefore I will keep thee for my head forevermore.

3 And Samuel was already dead, and all Israel had wept for him, and had buried him in Ramah, which was his city; and Saul had banished the soothsayers and the sorcerers.

4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came, and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel, and encamped in Gilboa.

5 And when Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he feared, and his heart trembled greatly.

6 And he asked Saul of the Lord, but the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

7 Then Saul said to his servants, Seek me a woman who has the spirit of a witch, that I may go to her and consult her. And his servants said to him: Behold, in Endor there is a woman who has the spirit of guessing.

8 And Saul disguised himself and put on other garments, and he went and two men with him, and at night they came to the woman; and she said, I ask you to guess me by the spirit of a witch, and bring me up to whomever I tell you to.

9 Then the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath destroyed diviners and sorcerers out of the land: why then thou lay a snare upon my life, to make me slay?

10 Then Saul swore to him by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, that no harm will come to thee for this.

11 Then the woman said to him, To whom shall I bring thee up? And he said, Bring me up to Samuel.

12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why have you deceived me? for thou art Saul.

13 And the king said to him, Fear not: but what do you see? Then the woman said to Saul: I see gods that come up out of the earth.

14 And she said to him, How is your figure? And she said: An old man is coming up, and he is swathed in a cloak. Realizing that Saul was Samuel, he bowed his face to the ground, and prostrated himself.

15 Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou troubled me by bringing me up? Then Saul said, I am greatly distressed, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me, and answereth me no more, neither by the ministry of the prophets, nor by dreams; That's why I called you to let me know what to do.

16 Then Samuel said, Why then ask me, seeing that the LORD hath forsaken thee, and hath become thine enemy?

17 For the LORD hath done unto thee as he hath spoken to thee through my mouth, and hath torn the kingdom out of thine hand, and hath given it to thy fellow David.

18 As thou hast not heeded the voice of the LORD, and hast not carried out the fervor of his wrath against Amalek, therefore the LORD has done this unto thee today.

19 And the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow thou and thy children shall be with me; and the camp of Israel the Lord will deliver into the hand of the Philistines.

20 And immediately Saul fell to the ground, and he feared greatly because of those words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; because he hadn't eaten bread all that day and all that night.

21 Then the woman came to Saul, and seeing that he was so troubled, she said to him, Behold, thy maiden has given ear to thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and I have heard the words which thou hast spoken.

22 Now therefore hear thou also the words of thy handmaid, and I will set a morsel of bread before thee, and eat, that thou mayest have strength to go forth.

23 But he refused it, and said, I will not eat. But his servants and his wife constrained him; and he listened to his voice: and he arose from the ground, and sat upon a bed.

24 And the woman had a barley heifer in the house, and he hurried, and cut her throat, and took flour, and kneaded it, and baked it in unleavened cakes.

25 And he brought them before Saul and his servants, and they ate: after which they rose and went away that very night.

I Samuel 28 Saul consulta uma pitonissa de Endor

 I Samuel 28

11 A mulher então lhe disse: A quem te farei subir? E disse ele: Faze-me subir a Samuel.

15 Samuel disse a Saul: Por que me desinquietaste, fazendo-me subir?

1 Samuel 27 David goes again to Achish, king of Gath

 1 Samuel 27

David goes again to Achish, king of Gath

1 But David said in his heart, Now some day I will perish by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than to hurriedly flee to the land of the Philistines, that Saul may lose hope of me, and cease to seek me in all the borders of Israel; and so will I escape from his hand.

2 Then David arose, and went with six hundred men who were with him to Achish the son of Maoch king of Gath.

3 And David stayed with Aquis in Gath, he and his men, each with his house: David with both his wives, Aquinoan the Jezreelite, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

4 And when Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he took no further care to look for him.

5 And David said to Achish, If I have found grace in thy eyes, give me a place in one of the cities of the earth, that I may dwell there; for why shall thy servant dwell with thee in the royal city?

6 Then Achish gave him the city of Shiklag that day (wherefore Shiklag belongs to the kings of Judah to this day).

7 And it was the number of days that David dwelt in the land of the Philistines, one year and four months.

8 And David went up with his men, and they fell upon the Geshurites, and the Gersites, and the Amalekites: for of old were these dwellers of the land from as one goes to Sur unto the land of Egypt.

9 And David smote that land, and gave neither man nor woman life, and took sheep, and cows, and donkeys, and camels, and garments; and he come back, and come to Aquis.

10 And Achish saying, Where have you gone today? David said: Over the south of Judah, and over the south of the Jerameleites, and over the south of the Kenites.

11 And David gave neither man nor woman life, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest he denounce us, saying, Thus did David. And this was his custom for all the days that he dwelt in the land of the Philistines.

12 And Achish trusted in David, saying, He hath certainly made himself abhorrent to his people in Israel; wherefore you shall be my servant forever

 I Samuel 27

10 E dizendo Áquis: Sobre onde destes hoje?
