1 Samuel 20 Jonathan makes a covenant with David

 1 Samuel 20

Jonathan makes a covenant with David

11 Then Jonathan said to David, Come and go out into the field. And they both went out into the field.

12 And Jonathan said to David, The Lord, the God of Israel, should I search for my father at this hour tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, and, behold, there is something favorable for David, and I will not then send it to you, and let him not know it. ,

13 The Lord do this to Jonathan just as much; but if my father sees fit to do you harm, I will also let you know; and I will let you go, and you will go in peace: and the Lord be with you, just as it was with my father.

14 And if I still live then, will you not use me with the Lord's beneficence, lest he die?

15 Nor will you cut off your house for ever, even when the Lord uproots each of David's enemies from the land.

16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, The Lord requires it from the hand of David's enemies.

17 And Jonathan made David swear again, because he loved him; because he loved him with all the love of his soul.

18 And Jonathan said to him, Tomorrow is the new moon, and they will not find you in your place, for your seat will be empty.

19 And when you were gone for three days, come down hurriedly, and go to that place where you hid on the day of business: and stand by the stone of Ezel.

20 And I will shoot three arrows at that band, as if shooting at the target.

21 And, behold, I will send the lad, saying, Come, seek the arrows: if I expressly say to the lad, Look, the arrows are beyond you; take it with you, and come; because there is peace for you, and there is nothing, the Lord lives.

22 But if you say to the boy like this: Look that the arrows are beyond you: go away; because the Lord lets you go.

23 And as for the business of which you and I speak, behold, the Lord is between you and me forever.

24 So David hid himself in the field: and when the moon was new, the king sat down to eat bread.

25 And when the king sat in his seat, as at other times, in the place by the wall, Jonathan stood up, and Abner sat beside Saul: and David's place appeared empty.

26 But that day Saul said nothing, because he said, Something has happened to him that he is not clean; it is certainly not clean.

27 It also happened on the other day, the second of the new moon, that David's place appeared empty: Saul said to Jonathan his son, Why didn't Jesse's son come yesterday or today to eat bread?

28 And Jonathan said to Saul, David asked me dearly to let him go to Bethlehem.

29 Saying, I ask you to let me go, because our lineage has a sacrifice in the city, and my brother told me to go: if now I have found favor in your eyes, I ask you to let me go, so that you may see to my brothers: that's why he didn't come to the king's table.

30 Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, Son of the wicked in rebellion; Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to shame you and to shame your mother's nakedness?

31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you shall be strong, nor your kingdom; because he is worthy of death.

32 Then Jonathan answered Saul, his father, and said to him, Why should he die? has he done?

33 Then Saul threw him with the spear to strike him: so Jonathan understood that his father had already determined to kill David.

34 So Jonathan, very angry, got up from the table: and on the second day of the new moon he did not eat bread; because he was hurt because of David, because his father had mistreated him.

35 And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field, at the time he had agreed with David, and a small boy with him.

36 Then he said to his boy, Run to find the arrows that I shoot. So the boy ran, and he shot an arrow, which he passed beyond him.

37 And when the young man came to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan shouted after the young man, and said, Is the arrow not beyond you?

38 And Jonathan shouted after the boy again: Hurry up, get up, don't delay. And Jonathan's boy took the arrows and came to his master.

39 And the boy didn't understand anything: only Jonathan and David knew about this business.

40 Then Jonathan gave his weapons to the young man he was carrying, and said to him, "Go, take them into the city."

41 And when the young man went, David arose from the south side, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed three times: and they kissed one another, and wept together, until David wept much more.

42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace: What have we both sworn in the name of the Lord, saying, The Lord be between you and me, and between my seed and your seed, be perpetually.

43 Then David arose, and went; and Jonathan entered the city.

I Samuel 20 Jônatas faz um pacto com Davi

 I Samuel 20

19 E, ausentando-te tu três dias, desce apressadamente, e vai àquele lugar onde te escondeste no dia do negócio: e fica-te junto à pedra de Ezel.

28 E respondeu Jônatas a Saul: Davi me pediu encarecidamente que o deixasse ir a Belém.

1 Samuel 20 David's interview with Jonathan

 1 Samuel 20

David's interview with Jonathan

1 Then David fled from Naioth at Ramah: and he came and said to Jonathan, What have I done? what is my crime? and what is my sin before your father, who seeks to take my life?

2 And he said to him, This is not so: you shall not die; behold, my father does not do anything big or small without first giving me a part; why would my father cover this business for me? it's not like this.

3 Then David swore again, and said, Father, it is well known to you that I found grace in your eyes; so he said, "Don't know this, Jonathan, lest you be hurt; and in truth, the Lord lives, and your soul lives, that there is only one step between me and death.

4 And Jonathan said to David, "Whatever your soul says, I will do to you."

5 David said to Jonathan, "Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, when I usually sit with the king to eat: let me go, however, and I will hide in the field until the third evening."

6 If your father notices my absence, you will say: David asked me very much to let him run to Bethlehem, his city: because there is an annual sacrifice there for the entire lineage.

7 If he says: Okay, then your servant has peace: but if he is very angry, he knows that he is already determined in evil.

8 Therefore, show mercy to your servant, because you have made your servant to enter into a covenant with the Lord with you: if there is a crime in me, kill me myself: why would you take me to your father?

9 Then Jonathan said, Far be it from you: but if I somehow knew that this evil is already entirely determined by my father, that it might come upon you, would I not discover it?

10 And David said to Jonathan, Who can tell me if your father happens to answer you harshly?

I Samuel 20 A entrevista de Davi com Jônatas

 I Samuel 20

1 Samuel 19 Michal deceives his father and saves David

 1 Samuel 19

Michal deceives his father and saves David

12 Then Michal went down to David through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

13 And Michal took a statue and laid it on the bed, and put a goatskin at his head, and covered it with a blanket.

14 And when Saul sent messengers to bring David, she said, He is sick.

15 Then Saul sent messengers to see David, saying, Bring me to the bed, that I may kill him.

16 So the messengers came, behold, the statue was on the bed and the goatskin at its head.

17 Then Saul said to Michal, Why have you so deceived me, and let my enemy go and escape? And Michal said to Saul, Because he said to me, Let me go, why should I kill you?

18 So David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel, to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and they went, he and Samuel, and stayed in Naioth.

19 And they announced it to Saul, saying, Behold, David is in Naioth in Ramah.

20 Then Saul sent messengers to bring to David, who saw a congregation of prophets prophesying, where Samuel was presiding over them: and the spirit of God came upon Saul's messengers, and they also prophesied.

21 And when Saul warned of this, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied: then Saul sent a third messengers, who also prophesied.

22 Then he went to Ramah himself, and came to the great well that was in Secu; and asking, he said, Where are Samuel and David? And they said to him, Behold, they are in Naioth, in Ramah.

23 Then he went to Naioth, in Ramah: and the same spirit of God came upon him, and he was prophesying, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

24 And he also took off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and was naked on the ground all that day and all that night; so it is said, Is Saul also among the prophets?

I Samuel 19 Mical engana a seu pai e salva Davi

 I Samuel 19

1 Samuel 19 Jonathan appeases his father's jealousy of David

 1 Samuel 19

Jonathan appeases his father's jealousy of David

1 And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and all his servants to kill David. But Jonathan, Saul's son, was very fond of David.

2 And Jonathan announced it to David, saying, My father, Saul, seeks to kill you for what he now guards you in the morning, and remains hidden, and hides.

3 And I will go out, and I will be at my father's hand in the field where you are, and I will speak to you to my father, and I will see what is, and I will announce it.

4 Then Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul, his father, and said to him, Do not sin the king against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds are very good for you.

5 For he put his soul in his hand, and smote the Philistines, and the Lord made a great deliverance to all Israel; you saw it yourself and rejoiced: why then would you sin against innocent blood, killing David without cause?

6 And Saul listened to Jonathan's voice, and Saul swore, As the Lord lives, he will not die.

7 And Jonathan called David, and told him all these words: and Jonathan took David to Saul, and stood before him as before.

8 And there was war again: and David went out, and fought against the Philistines, and smote them with a great wound, and fled before him.

9 But the evil spirit on the part of the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house, and held his spear in his hand, and David touched the musical instrument with his hand.

10 And Saul tries to drive David into the wall, but he turned away from Saul, who struck the wall with a spear: so David fled, and escaped that same night.

11 But Saul sent messengers to the house of David to keep him safe and kill him in the morning, so that Michal, his wife, warned David, saying, If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow they will kill you.

 I Samuel 19

1 Samuel 18 Michal, Saul's daughter, loves David and marries him

 1 Samuel 18

Michal, Saul's daughter, loves David and marries him

20 But Michal, Saul's other daughter, loved David: which, being announced to Saul, seemed good to her.

21 And Saul said, I will give it to him, that he may be a snare, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. So Saul said to David, You will be my son-in-law today.

22 And Saul commanded his servants: Speak in secret to David, saying, Behold, the king is very affectionate, and all his servants love you; now, therefore, you consent to be the king's son-in-law.

23 And Saul's servants spoke all these words in David's ears. Then David said, “Does it seem little to you to be the son-in-law of the king, since I am a poor and despicable man?

24 And Saul's servants announced this to him, saying, These were the words that David spoke.

25 Then Saul said, Thus you will say to David, The king has no need for a dowry, but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king's enemies. Because Saul was trying to make David fall at the hand of the Philistines.

26 And his servants announced these words to David, and this business seemed right in David's eyes, that he should be the son-in-law of the king: but the days were not yet fulfilled.

27 Then David got up and left with his men, and they struck two hundred men out of the Philistines, and David brought his foreskins, and gave them all to the king to be the king's son-in-law: so Saul gave him his daughter as wife. .

28 And he saw Saul and noticed that the Lord was with David: and Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him.

29 So Saul feared David much more: and Saul was David's enemy all his days.

30 And as the princes of the Philistines went out, it came to pass, that David went out more prudently than all the servants of Saul: because his name was highly esteemed.

 I Samuel 18

1 Samuel 18 Saul intends to kill David by cunning

 1 Samuel 18

Saul intends to kill David by cunning

17 Saul said to David, “Behold, my oldest daughter Merab, I will give you for a wife; she is only a worthy son to me, and she fights the wars of the Lord (because Saul said to herself: My hand should not be against him, but that of the Philistines).

18 But David said to Saul, Who am I, and what is my life and my father's family in Israel, to become the king's son-in-law?

19 It happened, however, that at the time that Merab, Saul's daughter, was to be given to David, she was given by woman to Adriel, Meolatite.

I Samuel 18 Saul intenta matar Davi pela astúcia

 I Samuel 18

1 Samuel 18 The song of women unworthy of Saul

 1 Samuel 18

The song of women unworthy of Saul

7 And the women tingled, answered one another, and said, Saul smote his thousands, but David his ten thousands.

8 Then Saul was very angry, and that word seemed bad to him, and he said, Ten thousands gave to David, and to me only thousands: indeed, what does he lack, if not just the kingdom?

9 And from that day on, Saul had David in suspicion.

10 And it came to pass the other day that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and prophesied in the middle of the house: and David touched the harp with his hand, as from day to day: Saul, however, had a spear in his hand .

11 And Saul threw the spear, saying, I will drive David into the wall. But David dodged him twice.

12 And Saul feared David, because the Lord was with him and had departed from Saul.

13 So Saul turned him away from him and made him chief of a thousand: and he went out and came in before the people.

14 And David conducted himself prudently in all his ways, and the Lord was with him.

15 And when Saul saw that he was being so prudent, he was afraid of him.

16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

I Samuel 18 O cântico das mulheres indigna a Saul

 I Samuel 18
